2 Student Profile Mason School of Business currently enrolls 506 undergraduate students in its full-time program, accepting around 200 new students each year. Students in the program have the opportunity to major or minor in four different areas of business: Accounting, Marketing, Finance, and Process Management and Consulting. In addition, students may also study a business discipline outside of their major by taking 6-7 additional credits of coursework in another discipline, including Entrepreneurship and Management and Organizational Leadership. Summary of Services Top Full-Time Hiring Companies (by Number of Hires) The Undergraduate Business Program partners with the College s Cohen Career Center to provide students with resources to aid in career exploration and planning. This includes workshops, programs, events, online tools, oncampus recruiting for internships and employment and professional and graduate school advising. Our office believes that students find the most success in their career planning when they use all the tools available to them, and strives to aid all students in their professional goals. Full-time Employment Data Upon graduation, 60% of our students report receiving an offer for full-time employment. An additional 24% report receiving a job within an additional three months after graduation (with 87% of graduates reporting their post-graduation plans). 3 Employment By Region Our students found employment across the United States, but 79% stayed in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast after graduation, due to the close geographic proximity and expanding economy in those regions. In 2012, career placement in the finance, accounting, and consulting industries was exceptionally strong. 4 Opportunities to Connect Meet the Firms Friday - Fall The Mason School of Business and the Sherman & Gloria H. Cohen Career Center co-sponsor this annual event targeted towards students interested in careers in accounting and consulting. Throughout the day, industry professionals lead various panel discussions to give students a glimpse into opportunities in the field. Students and recruiters also have an excellent opportunity to connect in a career fair format. From DoG Street to Wall Street - Fall This annual event, co-sponsored by the Mason School of Business and the Sherman & Gloria H. Cohen Career Center, provides students with an opportunity to learn about careers in Finance and network with potential employers and contacts. Panelists cover topics including Finance 101, Interviewing 101, International Finance, Sales and Trading, Investment Banking, and Private Banking. Marketing Symposium - Spring The Sherman & Gloria H. Cohen Career Center and the Mason School of Business co-sponsor this annual opportunity for students interested in marketing, advertising, public relations, and related fields. This interactive symposium provides information on different pathways in these industries and networking opportunities with potential employers and contacts. DC Consulting Trip - Winter Each winter, the Cohen Career Center sponsors a trip to D.C. to give students the opportunity to connect with alumni and other professionals in the consulting field through company site visits and a networking dinner. The Winter 2012 trip included visits to IBM, Grant Thornton, CGI Federal, Deloitte Consulting, & Booz Allen Hamilton. NYC Marketing Immersion - Winter This two-day trip, sponsored by the Cohen Career Center, gives students the opportunity to explore careers in marketing while networking with alumni. The Winter 2012 trip included visits to Saatchi & Saatchi, Edelman, Colgate-Palmolive, Kraft and MediaVest. Wall Street Program - Winter Students interested in careers in Finance are invited to attend this trip to New York City to visit financial institutions and network with alumni on Wall Street. The Winter 2012 trip included visits to Bank of New York Mellon, Deutsche Bank, Freeman & Co., Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo Securities, LiquidNet and the New York Stock Exchange. 5 A Unique Educational Experience At Mason, IPS stands for Individual Program of Study, an idea which focuses on creating well rounded graduates by educating both in and out of the classroom. Each student works directly with an advisor to develop their individual IPS, which supplements traditional learning with a balance of real-life experience and a global perspective. Our graduates leave well equipped to become tomorrow s leaders. The William & Mary Difference The Mason School of Business is at the frontier of global experiential learning. We encourage each student to incorporate an international experience into their IPS. We provide curricular sequencing so all students may study abroad for a semester without delaying graduation and personalized advising so students maximize their experience while abroad. Furthermore, we offer unique curricular opportunities that incorporate study abroad, such as a summer program in Budapest and the Global Immersion Analysis course where students visit Southeast Asia over winter break. Our faculty love to teach. And they re among the best in the world. For the second year in a row they have received an 'A+' in the BusinessWeek ranking of faculty and they are perennially top 10 in Princeton Review s Best Professors.
