1 Roofing & Sheet Metal Contractors Association The Finest in the Georgia Roofing Industry 2017 Presidents Message WINTER 2017 ISSUE I hope the New Year has been wonderful for everyone. It appears the Georgia roofing market is red hot and set to stay that way. This work abundance still has its challenges and we all need to keep up to date on them. Our newly elected President Trump will be addressing the following issues soon; Tax reform, ACA (Affordable Care Act), regulatory reform, and immigration reform. Each one of these issues directly affect all Georgia roofing companies. Our association, along with the NRCA, plan to do all we can to help keep you informed. IN THIS ISSUE: Pheasant Shoot Photos 3 Education Update 4 Support Associate Members 5 CPR & First Aid The board members of RSMCA have been working very hard on several items. First, the annual convention will be held July 20-23, 2017 at the King and Prince Resort in St. Simons. We have a super line up of speakers to help keep us updated on everything affecting our businesses. Secondly, the voluntary licensing program is up and running with a new test, testing procedure, accreditation system, and cost structure. This test and license will be available twice per year to contractors who meet the requirements to hold the license. We expect this licensing effort to really take off with companies who want to set themselves apart from other companies. I d like to thank the board and Gina Grantham for investing so much of their time and effort to update this program of RSMCA. It was not an easy task! We have also updated our decals, logos, and letterheads to give a fresh look to the association. We are constantly looking for ways to assist the roofing trade. If you have any suggestions of things we need to be addressing, please let us know. Don t forget that we are still offering First Aid/CPR through the association. This training can be used anytime that fits your schedule with classes in Kennesaw and Norcross. It is an honor to be serving as your president this year. 2 RSMCA s Events Save the Date for the RSMCA Annual Conference at St. Simons! RSMCA s Annual Conference will again be held at the wonderful King and Prince at St. Simon s Island, GA. This is a well anticipated event for the whole family and your board and education committee are working hard on creating an interesting, and informative program! In case you missed it last year, we highly encourage you to attend as the rave reviews we receive every year after this event are proof alone that this conference should not be missed! The education, entertainment, comradery and family fun will be a lasting memory! 4 RSMCA Education Update Don t forget about the essentials! C.P.R & First Aid available to fit within your own schedule! The course is essential for employees designated as first responders RSMCA Scholarship Competition Open Applications for the 2017 RSMCA Scholarship are available online and must be postmarked by March 15 th, to be considered. Any college-bound dependents of an RSMCA member can apply for the scholarship. Award criteria and forms are available on the website at Please encourage eligible students to apply for this opportunity! 5 RSMCA Education Series: CPR & First Aid When: Anytime you have some free time! What: RSMCA has negotiated a great member rate for CPR & First Aid Classes. Where: Two Locations: Norcross and Kennesaw (Kennesaw Saturdays only) This is a new opportunity that we feel will allow members to take a CPR & First Aid class, with a discount through RSMCA, but at their own leisure through a great local company that offers classes all week and on Saturdays. Once payment is received, you will be sent the instructions on how to take the course and sign up. Course Overview: This course covers the American Heart Association's program for CPR and First Aid. Learn important guidelines and techniques to safely address medical emergencies.
