POST-BACCALAUREATE SPECIAL EDUCATION GENERALIST LICENSING The Post-baccalaureate Special Education Generalist program is designed for those who have already completed a bachelor s degree and wish to obtain a Colorado license that allows them to teach special education kindergarten through grade 12 in the state of Colorado. GRADUATE MASTER OF EDUCATION IN SPECIAL EDUCATION (LICENSURE AND NON-LICENSURE) The Master of Education in Special Education program is designed for graduate students to earn a master s degree in education while pursuing Special Education Generalist Licensure from the state of Colorado. A non-licensure track is also available if you don t wish to pursue licensure. This degree in special education is focused on preparing you with advanced competencies related to a field of special education. The special education curriculum seeks to build strong connections between theory and practice through quality classroom instruction paired with extensive field experiences. You will gain a strong foundation in teaching and content knowledge from experts in the field of education, all taught from a Christian perspective. M.ED. IN SPECIAL EDUCATION WITH ALTERNATIVE LICENSING EMPHASIS This one-year program is designed for teachers without a license who are teaching in a special education classroom in a Colorado charter or private school. The program includes supervised coaching in the classroom, as well as 29 credit hours of graduate coursework, which are a part of the M.Ed. in Special Education Alternative Emphasis. The combination of classroom teaching and graduate coursework may lead to an institutional recommendation from the University for an initial teaching license in special education, the standard entry-level license in Colorado. M.ED. IN SPECIAL EDUCATION WITH SPECIAL EDUCATION GENERALIST ENDORSEMENT EMPHASIS The endorsement in Special Education Generalist program plays a critical role in teaching special education students and providing support for students with disabilities across multiple tiers of instruction. 7 CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION GRADUATE MASTER OF ARTS IN CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION The Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction (MACI) at Colorado Christian University provides you with the tools to enhance your professional career in teaching, training, administration, and curriculum development. MACI is designed to further your cognitive abilities, relational skills, commitment to values, and worldview informed by biblical scholarship, science, experience, and history. You can earn a general master s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, or you can choose one of two options for an emphasis: Biblical Studies or Alternative Teacher. M.A. IN CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION WITH ALTERNATIVE LICENSING EMPHASIS You will take requirements (18 ) and 15 for the Alternative Emphasis. An additional three (3) elective are required to complete the MACI degree. M.A. IN CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION WITH BIBLICAL STUDIES EMPHASIS You will take requirements (18 ) and 18 of biblical learning for the Biblical Studies Emphasis. M.A. IN CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION CERTIFICATES Graduate-level certificates are offered in conjunction with CCU s MACI program. Each certificate consists of three, 3-credit courses for a total of nine credits. INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATE The Certificate in Instructional Technology provides you with exposure to instructional approaches and technology tools for developing effective strategies to deliver training to learners. ONLINE COURSE DEVELOPER CERTIFICATE The Certificate in Online Course Developer trains you to effectively design, develop, and evaluate online classes in educational or corporate settings. ONLINE TEACHING AND LEARNING CERTIFICATE The Certificate in Online Teaching and Learning gives you the tools you need to develop an online teaching strategy that enables you to significantly impact individual learners.

8 EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP GRADUATE MASTER OF EDUCATION IN EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP (LICENSURE AND NON-LICENSURE) The Master of Education in Educational Leadership is a comprehensive graduate program for experienced teachers, school administrators, and district personnel who seek to further their career in an academic leadership role. Offered through our College of Adult and Graduate Studies, the program is designed to address many of the issues faced by educators in the public and private sectors alike. The primary aim of the educational leadership curriculum is to provide you with a tangible framework of leadership skills that prepare you for the challenges faced by school administrators in the 21st century. Graduates who satisfactorily complete all requirements of the Master of Education in Educational Leadership (licensing) program may apply to the Colorado Department of Education for a principal license.

9 UNDERGRADUATE TEACHING PROGRAMS NOW OFFERED ONLINE CCU s College of Adult and Graduate Studies offers both undergraduate licensure and non-licensure K-12 teach programs that are hosted 100% online. Offered in a flexible format, students can enroll in the Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or Special Education Generalist online programs and graduate in as little as 18 months. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT CCU S ONLINE TEACHING PROGRAMS: You will need to apply for initial licensure through your state s Department of Education. Contact your state s Department of Education to discuss licensure requirements. Even though you can complete your coursework online, you will be required to complete a minimum of 800 hours of supervised classroom experience. Education faculty will work closely with you as you progress through your program. For online courses, you ll be required to purchase a fisheye lens that adheres to either a cellphone or peripheral webcam a more affordable and available solution than proposed alternatives. You will also use video software built into your courses on Blackboard to capture video footage as you practice teaching. Field supervisors will view the videos and provide time-stamped feedback. You will receive peer-to-peer feedback through Blackboard discussion forums and the occasional seminar when you re required to be online at the same time as other program students.
