3 Payment Hours: January M-Th 8-6 pm and Fridays 8-5pm When is my Last Day to Pay? The last day to pay without fees is Friday, January 14, by 5 pm. Student s full account balance must be paid by this date and includes students receiving financial aid or other scholarships such as millennium. All payments must be received (not postmarked) by January 14. Beginning Tuesday, January 18 a $25 per day late registration/payment penalty. Monday, January 24 is the last day to pay with late fees, $125 total. This is also the last day to add or drop classes with a full refund. Failure to pay constitutes a withdrawal from class. Where do I Pay? Make payments in the cashier s office, 1st floor student services complex. Find out if you owe money online at or at the Bursars office (8:30-5pm). Students are encouraged to pay for courses online. Credit/debit daily cash limits may apply. To assure that payments are applied correctly students are encouraged to use credit cards for transactions over $ Payments can be made in drop boxes located in the visitor parking booth outside of Maude Frazier Hall, inside Maude Frazier Hall, inside the Lied Library, and inside the Reynolds Student Services Complex. Non-admitted students are not eligible for federal, state, or institutional financial aid, but may apply for alternative educational loans through private lenders. Information available online at What is my Enrollment Status? Full time enrollment is 12 credits for undergrads, 9 for graduate students. Your actual enrollment must match the enrollment status (ex. Full-time, three-quarter time, half-time) reported upon financial aid award activation for funds to pay. If you will be enrolled in more or less credits than originally reported, please contact Student Financial Services at or Student Services Complex 232 to report change in enrollment. Always add classes before you drop to maintain full-time status. Student loan borrowers are required to complete online loan counseling and an online Master Promissory Note (MPN) for loan funds to pay. Complete instructions on these steps are located in the Resources column of the Financial Aid page of the UNLV website: Select Forms and Instructions and download Master Promissory Note Instructions for Students. 2

4 Financial Aid: In Depth Do I have a Financial Need? Visit the bursar s site for up-to-date information on tuition and fees at bursar/tuition.html. A student s award package can include scholarships, federal and state grants, federal work study employment, and loans. A student s financial need is determined by using the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) derived from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The EFC takes into account the number of people in a student s household, the number of people in college, the age of students and/or parents, as well as the student s and/or parent s income and assets. For most scholarships at UNLV, it is required that you maintain enrollment in at least 12 credits (full-time) per semester to assure that the scholarship credits your account. If you get an outside agency scholarship, all checks and correspondence should be forwarded to the address below. Checks should be made out to Board of Regents. Since most checks are copayable to you and UNLV, both parties must endorse the check before it can be applied to your account. UNLV Scholarships Office Box Las Vegas, NV Fax: When do I receive a Refund? A refund check is sent to the student when the students financial aid is greater than his or her charges for a particular semester. To determine the amount of your refund check, you should compare your university charges with your anticipated financial aid. Refund checks representing financial aid proceeds will be mailed to the address on file with Student Enrollment Services. Federal financial aid cannot be received at two different institutions concurrently. You must select only one school to be the school to administer your financial aid. 3

5 What is my Financial Aid Status? You may check your financial aid status online through the My Aid log in located on the righthand side of the Financial Aid page of the UNLV website: Financial aid funds will be credited to your UNLV account the week before classes begin. You will see the word Disbursed next to your awards when funds have been credited to your account. You may then view your bill through Online Registration to view the amount of your refund or the remaining balance owed. Verify that all activity (add/drops) have posted to your account before determining your refund amount. After the add/drop period, your charges will not be reduced and you will be paying for the original number of hours you were enrolled for in that term. This may affect your Satisfactory Academic Progress at the end of the academic year. Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is a measurement of your academic performance and one of many requirements to maintain eligibility for financial aid. SAP consists of three different components: grade point average, minimum credit hours, and maximum credit hours. If you withdraw from UNLV during the first 60% of the semester, your financial aid may be adjusted depending on the Return to Title IV Calculation. The Student Financial Services will review what charges you are responsible for and what financial aid you were eligible to receive at the time of your withdrawal. You aid may be reduced or canceled based on this process and you may owe a balance to the University. All students should verify their account balance on their electronic billing statement. What is Federal Work Study? There are several ways to find a job at UNLV. When you complete the FAFSA, you will be considered for Federal Work Study (FWS) if you mark it on the application. If you qualify for FWS at UNLV it will be included on your financial aid award letter. All students who are currently enrolled at least half-time are eligible to find employment through the Student Enrollment & Financial Services Employment page. What are Short Term Loans? The purpose of a Short-Term Loan (STL) is to provide temporary cash for educational expenses for a brief period of time until other resources become available. A STL is normally paid back depending on when you apply for it (15-45 days depending on the billing cycle). A financial aid counselor can let you know. The Millenium Scholarship (MS) pays $80 per credit. Payments occur in two cycles. The first disbursement pays for 12 credits, and the second occurs on the last day of late registration and pays for any additional credits. Students are required to pay for fees not covered by the scholarship by January 14 to avoid late registration/payment fees. 4

6 Registration & Enrollment Hours During Enrollment: January M-Th 8-6 pm and Fridays 8-5pm When is the Last Day to Drop Classes? Monday, January 24 is the last day to add/drop classes and receive a full refund. Friday, February 25 is that last day to drop and receive a 50% refund. Friday, March 18 is the final day to drop or withdraw from classes or change from credit to audit. When should I check the Catalog? Students should check the catalog for pre-requisites. If they feel they have met these requirements, they should refer to the Student Authorization Guide page within the registration guide at for the appropriate contact. You can also buy a paper copy at the UNLV bookstore. Why am I on Hold? An Admissions Hold is typically an indicator that a student immunization records are needed or incomplete. An Academic Hold is typically an indicator that a student needs to receive academic advising. Immunization records may be submitted to the Student Enrollment Services office located in Maude Frazier Hall or faxed to A Financial Hold is when you owe money from a previous semester. During opening, the Office of Undergraduate Recruitment, located in Maude Frazier Hall, will also accept these records. How do I reset my PIN? Choosing to attend college and come to UNLV was an important decision; we encourage students to prepare themselves with the best chances of succeeding by attending Orientation. A $60 Orientation fee is placed on the student s university bill the first semester. This is a one-time, non-refundable fee. As part of this $60, students receive academic advising, undergraduate catalog, student handbook/planner, student ID, and other supplies during Orientation. Graduate College students are invited to attend orientation as well. Graduate College (FDH 314) questions should be directed to Parents During scheduled Orientation, specific sessions will be offered for parents. We will answer all parents questions and help them understand what their son or daughter will experience as they enter the university. 11
