1 Early Admissions Program Instructions for Summer/Fall 2017 Welcome to Las Positas College (LPC)! Please read through all the instructions before starting your application. This guide provides detailed instructions on how to complete each step. Retain this document for your own records to ensure that you satisfied all the necessary steps to participate in the Early Admissions Program for LPC. High School Seniors: If you are currently taking a class at LPC (or have taken a class last semester), you must still complete all the steps listed in this document to participate in the Early Admissions Program for Summer/Fall Submit your online application to LPC. Submission Period: Feb. 1-Mar a. Online application for admissions available at: b. If you are a new user you will need to create an account. c. If you are a returning OpenCCC user and need assistance finding your account, click the I Forgot My Username button on the sign in webpage. d. After you create a new account or sign into your OpenCCC account, there will be several pages of the application to complete including: Enrollment information i. Select Fall 2017 (Do NOT submit another application for Summer Your Fall 2017 application will allow you to enroll in Summer 2017 classes, if you wish). Personal information Residency Needs & interests Education i. Complete this section as of 8/16/2017, the first day of Fall 2017 semester. ii. Select First-time student in college (after leaving high school). iii. High School & Expected Graduation Date (you can estimate, e.g., 06/09/2017). Supplemental Questions i. Select YES to Question: Are you a graduating high school senior applying for the Early Admissions Program? Consent and Review application On the last page ( Submission ), make sure to click on Submit My Application button. 2 Receive your confirmation s. a. After you submit your application, check your for a confirmation indicating that your application has. Complete been processed. the Online Orientation. the confirmation s. b. Check your spam/junk folder for c. Later, you should receive an with Submission your Student Period: ID number Feb. 1- (W#). Once you receive your W#, please wait up to 48 hours before accessing Class-Web. e. Please be aware that you may not be able to access all the services in Class -Web until after April My Student ID # (W#): W PIN for Class-Web: (6 digits. Initially set to your date of birth. E.g., Feb 4, 1998 = ) 2. Complete the New Student Online Orientation. Deadline: March 31, Instructions on how to submit your online application to LPC. Submission Period: Feb. 1-29, 2016 Access the New Student Online Orientation at: a. On the sign in webpage, type in your first name, last name, and your W#. Click the Enter button to start the orientation. If you are using a public computer or a computer that had previously accessed this online orientation, you need to clear the history or memory cache of the computer before you can start the online orientation. You must enter your W# and pass the final quiz to receive credit for the orientation. b. After you sign in, you will go through several pages that provide important information for new students about academic programs, class registration procedures, available student support services, and the assessment process. c. On the last page, you ll take and pass the final quiz to receive credit for this orientation. After you pass the final quiz, you will see a certificate of completion indicating that you have completed the online orientation. It should have your name and your W#. You can print this page for your own records. d. If you wish, you can always go back into the online orientation and click on Enter as Guest to review any information (e.g., how to add/drop classes using Class-Web, academic calendar, sample pathways). e. It takes 24 hours for your orientation completion to be updated in Class- Web. Check your Class-Web account to see if your orientation component is satisfied: From the Main Menu => Check Your Priority Registration Status => Student Success Priority Registration Status (select SUBMIT)=> Under Student Success Services Status: Orientation is satisfied. Completed Online Orientation. Verified Class-Web: orientation is satisfied. 2
3 3. Complete your English or English as a Second Language (ESL) assessment Due: April 2, 2017 Majority of students will need to take the English or ESL assessment test. Schedule an appointment to take your assessment. Do not wait until the last week to schedule your appointment; sessions may be completely full! Please take the English/ESL assessment seriously as this will determine your starting English/ESL course at LPC. Prepare for your English or ESL assessment by reviewing the student guides available at: Appointments are required for testing (max: 45 students) at: A photo ID and "W" ID number are REQUIRED. We do not accept a conditional score. Please note that your Level 4 on the CAASPP tests is valid for only one year after high school graduation and then they expire. If you have documentation for any of the above items, please read the instructions in Step 4A. By completing Step 4A, this will also satisfy your assessment component through alternative means. Do not wait until the last week to schedule your appointment; sessions may be completely full! Please take the math assessment seriously as this will determine your starting math course at LPC. Do not wait until the last minute to take your tests or to sign up for a group session as they may be completely full! During this session, you ll go over the registration process, what courses are needed for specific majors, general education and/or for transfer. You must complete your assessment tests or Step 4A at least 24 hours prior to your group session. It takes at least 24 hours for your assessment completion to be updated in Class-Web after you take your assessments. Check your Class-Web account to see if your assessment component is satisfied: From the Main Menu => Check Your Priority Registration Status => Student Success Priority Registration Status (select SUBMIT)=> Under Student Success Services Status: Assessment is satisfied. At the end of the group session, you ll receive a copy of the abbreviated Student Education Plan (SEP) as a guide to enroll in classes on your registration date. Your abbreviated SEP is your receipt that you have completed Step 6. It takes at least a week for your Student Ed. Plan completion to be updated in Class-Web after attending a group session. Check your Class-Web account to see if your Student Education Plan component is satisfied: From the Main Menu => Check Your Priority Registration Status => Student Success Priority Registration Status (select SUBMIT)=> Under Student Success Services Status: Student Education Plan is satisfied. Scheduled Group Session Date: Time: Room: Check Class-Web for priority registration date: Assessment is satisfied. Student Ed. Plan is satisfied. I can sign up for classes starting at 7:00 am on: 5

Clear Prerequisites (if needed) If you completed any college course or have AP exams with a score of 3 or higher that fulfill prerequisites for specific classes, you want to clear the prerequisite requirement at least a week prior to your registration time/date. Course descriptions (including any prerequisites) are listed in the LPC Catalog at: For example, if you have a 4 on AP Spanish Language and you want to enroll in Spanish 2A (prerequisite: Spanish 1B) at LPC or if you have a 3 on AP Chemistry exam and you want to enroll in Chemistry 1A (prerequisites: Math 55 and Chem 31), you will need to complete this Step 5A. Completed Step 5A if needed Submit all documents to the Counseling office: Completed prerequisite override form available at: 1. Prepare for your registration date Make sure you can log into your Class-Web account, you don t have any holds, and check all the different menu options at least a week before your registration date at: You don t want to be locked out of your account the day of your registration! Review LPC s online orientation to go over how to add classes, information about waitlists, and sample pathways: Select Enter as Guest to view Registration Information on how to add classes and view Sample Pathways for: General Education requirements for CSU or UC Major courses for sample majors Use the Search for Classes (outside of Class-Web, under the Searchable Schedules) to view available classes (i.e., open, waitlisted, or closed) Have all your CRN #s ready so that you can enter your CRN #s all at once on the Add Classes screen of Class-Web. You can view all the courses for LPC s degree and certificate programs at: 6

Prepare for your registration date (continued) Read the FAQs about Wait lists at: Review Step by Step information about waitlists at: Read about how to set up your LPC s account (zon ) at: Set up my zon account. Date: 7. Register for Classes May 6, 2017* Sign up for classes starting at 7:00 am, May 6*, online using Class-Web If you need assistance with registration, LPC s Admissions & Records office (building 1600, room 1650 (2nd floor) ) will be open May 6* (9am-12 noon). After you enroll in your classes, print a copy of your registration for your own records. *Subject to Change. Please check website for updated information. Registered for classes. Date: 8. Pay fees before the drop deadline (Apply for financial aid, if applicable) Pay your fees via Class-Web using your credit card before the drop deadline. Or you may pay your fees in-person at LPC s Admissions & Records office, building 1600, room 1650 (2nd floor) during regular business hours. The drop deadline is posted on the Main Menu in Class-Web. OPTIONAL: You may apply for financial aid to help pay for your college education. Apply for aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Information on how to apply at: Apply before March 2, 2017 for the academic year to be eligible for Cal Grants! Apply early so that your financial aid package will be available to help pay for your fees. For more information, visit LPC s Financial Aid office online ( or in-person, building 1600, room 1650 (2nd floor). Paid fees. Time: Optional: I applied for financial aid and have completed all the necessary steps for that process. If you are going to receive financial aid but you know that your financial aid will not be processed in time before the drop deadline, go to the Admissions & Records office with a copy of your financial aid letter so that they do not drop you from your classes for nonpayment of fees. 7
