1 Hong Kong Unison Limited 香港融樂會有限公司 Scholarships Schemes - Hong Kong Unison Application Guidelines Scholarships Schemes for Ethnic Minority Students administrated by Hong Kong Unison Application Guideline About Hong Kong Unison Hong Kong Unison is a non-governmental organization founded in March 2001 and recognized as a public charitable institution (IR File No. 91/7763) in We believe that people are born equal and endeavor to assist ethnic minorities to participate in Hong Kong society. Over the past 10 years, we have advocated for better Chinese language education policies for ethnic minorities, worked on expanding ethnic minority students' post-secondary options in education, and fought for equal access to public services. We also provide Scholarships for ethnic minority students who wish to further their post-secondary education, provide guidance support services to school receiving ethnic minority students and promote racial equality education at mainstream schools. Scholarships Background Hong Kong Unison has administered the Scholarship for Ethnic Minority Students since Under the generous support of various donors, we are able to financially support ethnic minority students in their pursuit of post-secondary education. The scholarships administered by Hong Kong Unison in include the following: Zonta Scholarships for Ethnic Minority Students Rotary Club of Hong Kong Northeast Scholarships for Ethnic Minority Students Yun Lin Hu Memorial Scholarship for Ethnic Minority Students Unison Scholarships

2 Hong Kong Unison Limited 香港融樂會有限公司 Scholarships Schemes - Hong Kong Unison Application Guidelines Objectives To support ethnic minority youths who are keen to pursue their tertiary education but facing financial difficulties; To widen their career paths and provide them equal opportunity to become contributing members of the Hong Kong society; To instill the spirit of hope and a sense of direction among the ethnic minority youth. Who can apply? Only open to all ethnic minority (Non-Chinese) residents in Hong Kong with right of abode and holding a valid Hong Kong Identity Card. Note: Students holding study, travel or visit visa are NOT eligible for the application. Full-time / part-time students who are enrolled or will enroll in a degree programme in any tertiary education institute in Hong Kong in the coming academic year. Only students who are pursuing their first degree will eligible. Eligibility Full-time / part-time students who have already completed a minimum of one year in a sub-degree programme and will continue to enroll in the sub-degree programme in any tertiary education institute in Hong Kong in the coming academic year. All the post-secondary education programmes except the Degree programmes are regarded as Sub-degree programmes. You must have studied in a Sub-degree programme for at least 1 year.

We are sorry that you are NOT eligible to any of our scholarships scheme until you promote to Year 2. I will be the Year 1 student in the Foundation Diploma in September 2014, can I apply the Scholarships? We are sorry that you are NOT eligible to any of our scholarships scheme until you promote to Year 2. I am entering my first year of associate degree, / diploma degree but I have already studied for a year in another post-secondary program (e.g foundation diploma or diploma program). Am I eligible? 4 Hong Kong Unison Limited 香港融樂會有限公司 Scholarships Schemes - Hong Kong Unison Application Guidelines Membership of Selection Board A representative from the Board of the Directors of Hong Kong Unison Donor or his appointee(s) A representative from the Unison Scholarship Committee Obligation and duties of the awardees Submit the tuition fee receipts, periodic academic reports and self-reflections to Unison the donor; Be responsible for and committed to their studies; Join Unison Scholarship programmes and community activities to support the mission of Hong Kong Unison and contribute to ethnic minority communities or in the Hong Kong society as a whole. Application Procedure Fill out the application form which is available at your school office or Hong Kong Unison s website at Send the completed form to Hong Kong Unison by post/ in person to Flat 1303, 13/F, Wang Yip Building, 1 Elm Street, Tai Kok Tsui, Kowloon before the deadline. Application Deadline On or before 5PM, 29 th August 2014 (Friday) Late application will not be considered.

Awardees will also be notified individually by mail Please check the following items before sending out your application form to Unison You MUST provide the following documents together with the application form: (1) The completed application form; (2) A photocopy of your valid Hong Kong Identity Card; (3) Photocopies of your public examination results (HKCEE, HKAL or HKDSE) and other qualifications; (4) Photocopies of transcripts of your college/university record; (5) A recent (taken within the last 2 years) passport size photo to be pasted securely to the application form; (6) Pamphlet and confirmation letter of the enrolled course/ programme ** call us at or service@unison.org.hk for enquiries **
