1 Becoming Eligible to Apply for Graduation: Requirement 1: Each student is required to have a minimum amount of credits passed and/or enrolled before becoming eligible to apply for graduation. If possible, students should register for their final term before applying. Graduate Certificate: 1 unit passed or enrolled Master s: 24 units passed or enrolled Doctoral: 48 units passed or enrolled Requirement 2: Each student must obtain a Program of Study that is approved by their advisor and department chair. The approved Program of Study must be uploaded in to the Milestones section of your LOUIE- Student Service Center. Once uploaded, you will become eligible to apply for graduation within an hour. Please contact gradgraduation@nau.edu if you are unable to apply for graduation after an hour. NOTE: For students who are unable to secure signatures due to distance locations, approvals via from the responsible parties are acceptable. Those approvals, along with the final Program of Study, will need to be uploaded in the Milestones section in LOUIE-Student Service Center. Programs of Study are located here: Programs/Programs-of-Study-Page/. Please work with your department to obtain the appropriate signatures. Uploading the Program of Study: 1. Log into LOUIE and locate the Milestones section. Select the details link. Page 1 of 6

3 Submitting a Graduation Application: Once you are eligible to apply for graduation, please visit your LOUIE-Student Service Center to complete the online Graduation Application. 1. Log into LOUIE-Student Service Center and begin the application process. In the drop down menu named other academics choose the Apply for Graduation link. On the following page, select the program of which you would like to apply for graduation. NOTE: If the green link is not available to you, follow the instructions on the first page to become eligible to apply. Page 3 of 6

4 2. Verify your personal information. In the "Expected Graduation Term" drop down menu select the term in which you intend to complete your degree requirements. 3. Verify your name. It will be printed exactly as it appears. Please note the spelling, format, and capital/lower case letters. If your diploma name is incorrect select the Change Name option to enter the corrected version. Select Save my Name to update your official NAU student record. Page 4 of 6

4. Verify that your phone number is current. If your phone number is incorrect select the Change Phone Number option to enter the corrected version.

Verify your address information is accurate for the mailing of your diploma, or indicate that you will update your address in LOUIE. If you need to update your address, you may do so in your LOUIE- Student Service Center. Please note that an incorrect address will delay or prevent delivery of your diploma. If you have multiple addresses on file in LOUIE, please update both HOME and DIPLOMA addresses. Doctoral students only: Verify Dissertation Title and Dissertation Advisor(s), Your dissertation title and dissertation advisor(s) will be printed as they appear below in the commencement program. This is your last chance to review your information and verify that everything is correct. Verify that your NAME, ADDRESS and DEGREE. Any replacement diplomas will be mailed at the student's expense. Review the acknowledgements and terms. Click on the "I agree" check box if you agree to the terms and understand the acknowledgements. Click on "Continue" and submit the application.
