1 5936 Seminole Centre Court Madison WI (608) Madison Area Builders Association Scholarship Application For Careers in the Building and Construction Industry The Madison Area Builders Association has established a scholarship program. Each year, the Association will award scholarships to students pursuing post high school education. Preferences for scholarships will be given to students pursuing construction-related education, and students who are family members of or employed by members of the Madison Area Builders Association. The scholarship may be used to fund college, technical or vocational school, public or private post-secondary institutions. Scholarships will be paid directly to the school of choice of the winners to help defray the cost of tuition. The Scholarship is an up to $2,000 grant paid directly to the post-secondary educational institution. Distribution: Scholarship recipients are required to submit proof of enrollment to the Association. The scholarship award must be used in the current academic year. Scholarship recipients may be required to submit a copy of their tuition expense report. Deadline: Applicant is responsible to ensure all application materials and requirements are submitted to the Madison Area Builders Association by September 30th annually. 2 Scholarship Application Objective Criteria Used to Select Recipients of Scholarship and Rules for Eligibility. 1. A transcript of grades must be submitted with each application. 2. Recipient must be enrolled or planned to be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution. 3. The recipient's major field of study must be directly related to the construction industry, as determined by the Madison Area Builders Association Workforce Committee. 4. Scholarship awards will be evaluated and determined by majority vote of the Madison Area Builders Association Workforce Committee. 5. Applicants must be Wisconsin residents located in one of five counties (Dane, Iowa, Columbia or Marquette) or planning to relocate. 6. At least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, prior employer, colleague, etc. (Non family) Procedures To Supervise Use of Scholarship Funds 1. The Workforce Committee will review the information required to be submitted by each recipient annually and for each academic term, as previously described. 2. Scholarships will be paid directly to the educational institution. An agreement between the institution and the Association will require the educational institution to use the funds received from the Association exclusively for tuition and fees of the named recipient, unless otherwise approved. 3. Each recipient must submit, in advance of receipt of any funds, invoices from an educational institution for tuition, for courses that meet the other requirements of the Association. 4. The Association will aggressively seek refund of any scholarship funds, which are not used exclusively for tuition, books or supplies by a qualified recipient enrolled in a qualified field of study.
