School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT) ii. School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET) iii. School of Earth and Mineral Sciences (SEMS) iv. School of Environmental Technology (SET) v. School of Management Technology (SMT) vi. School of Sciences (SOS) Candidates should possess WASC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB at not more than two sittings with a minimum of Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two of the following subjects relevant to their discipline: Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Science, Economics, and Geography. Credit pass in Economics is compulsory in the School of Management Technology. QUALIFYING TEST: Candidates for Pre-Degree Science Programme must perform to a satisfactory level in a Computer- Based qualifying test to be conducted on Thursday, 1 st and Friday 2 nd November, 2012 at 9:00 am at the e-test Centre, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State. Candidates are expected to visit the website of the Federal University of Technology, Akure for the results of the qualifying test as from Monday 12 th November, The programme is full-time, residential and will run for one academic session of Two (2) Semesters. REGISTRATION AND COMMENCEMENT OF LECTURES: Screening and registration of successful candidates begin on Monday, 19 th November, 2012 while lectures commence on Monday, 3 rd December, Candidates who successfully complete the programme and meet the cut-off mark for the course applied for as determined by the University Admission Committee as well as meet the JAMB cut-off mark would be admitted into 100 level of the University undergraduate degree programme in relevant discipline.

2 METHOD OF APPLICATION: 1. Candidates are to pay application fee of ten thousand naira (N10,000.00) excluding bank charges on e-transact platform in any bank that is on e-transact platform. 2. Candidates are to complete and print the PDS Application Form online after payment by logging on to the Federal University of Technology, Akure s website and click on the online PDS Application Form. 3. Submit the Online application form and print out a copy. 4. The application opens on Monday, 9 th July, 2012 and closes on Friday, 26 th October, All candidates are requested to bring along the following items to the e-test venue: i) Depositor s copy of bank teller(s) indicating payment of TEN THOUSAND NAIRA (N10,000.00) Application Fee in candidates name. ii) Completed Application Form (downloaded from the FUTA website). iii) e-test scheduling slip which must contain a registration number. iv) Copy of e-transact receipt obtained from the bank. b. The venue of e-test exercise is the Electronic Test Centre (etc) Obakekere Campus Federal University of Technology, Akure. c. Candidates are NOT allowed to bring cell phones or electronic gadget(s) into the e-test hall. d. Any candidate who fails to present himself/herself for the computer based e-test will NOT be considered for admission. e. Candidates are requested in their own interest to have a feel of (practice) the computer based test by visiting http.//test.jketc.net. f. DURATION OF PROGRAMME: Postgraduate Diploma Programmes are run for a duration of three semesters but Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science, Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Applied Geology and all courses in the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology are run for a duration of four semesters. PURCHASE OF ADMISSION FORMS Application forms for PGD Programmes are obtainable from the Office of the Administrative Secretary, Centre for Continuing Education, Federal University of Technology, Akure at the rate of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00) only. Sale of forms starts from Monday, 2 nd July, 2012 and ends on Friday, 31 st August, 2012 for all PGD Programmes. Payment of application fees should be made at the Accounts Section of the Centre for Continuing Education. CERTIFICATE IN CRAFT TRAINING PROGRAMME IN THE FOLLOWING: i. Fitting/Machining ii. Welding/Metal Fabrication iii. Furniture Craft iv. Electrical Installation v. Refrigeration/Air Conditioning vi. Draughtmanship vii. Masonry (Bricklaying) viii. Tile Laying i. WASC/NECO/GCE or NABTEB attempted. Passes in at least two science subjects will be an advantage. ii. Candidates who do not have the above stated requirements but have relevant professional qualification and/or practical working experience may be considered. Two (2) Years B. PROFESSIONAL ENHANCEMENT TRAINING PROGRAMME The Programme is for candidates pursuing: i. Accounting Technician Scheme (ATS) ii. ICAN Professional Examinations (ACA) As required by the professional bodies. Four Months and will run bi-annually: January April & July October (Weekends) C. EXECUTIVE CERTIFICATE IN GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM (GIS) i. GCE O/Level or its equivalent with at least a Pass in English and Credit in three other subjects which preferably must include Mathematics, Geography/Technical Drawing. ii. iii. At least three (3) years working experience. Candidates who do not have GCE O/L but have relevant professional qualification and/or practical working experience may be considered. Three (3) Months (Full Time and Weekend runs are available)

6 D. COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN PROGRAMME FOR PROFESSIONALS i. Five (5) Credits at WASC/NECO/GCE O Level or NABTEB ii. Ten (10) years experience in professional practice. Four (4) Months (Weekends: Fridays & Saturdays) E. EXECUTIVE CERTIFICATE COURSE IN TEXTILE DESIGN, GRAPHICS/PRINTING TECHNOLOGY, CERAMICS, AND POTTERY DESIGN At least two (2) Credits passes at WASC/NECO/GCE O Level or NABTEB One (1) Year of three(3)terms. F. CERTIFICATE COURSE IN SPORTS SCIENCE a. Candidates must have minimum of three credit passes at WASC/NECO/GCE O Level or NABTEB. b. Recommendation confirming cognate experience from Director of Sports, FUTA or from any other institution endorsed by the Director of Sports, FUTA Three (3) Semesters G. CERTIFICATE COURSE IN METEOROLOGY i. Candidates must have five (5) O Level WASC/GCE in any of the following: Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics or any other relevant subject; ii. World Meteorology Organization (WMO) Class II Meteorology Certificate normally required for Direct Entry in the Department of Meteorology and/or a minimum, of 7 years professional experience in any related field; iii. Graduates in related disciplines like Geography, Geology, Geophysics, Physics, Mathematics, Agric. etc The Certificate course will be on full time and will last for five (5) months. This is made up of one (1) semester of coursework and one (1) month of simple student research project. H. CERTIFICATE COURSE IN FRENCH LANGUAGE i. No previous knowledge of French Language is required as this is a beginner s course. ii. Ability to read and write English Language is the only requirement. Three (3) months of six hours per week. I. COMPUTER TRAINING PROGRAMME (MORNING & EVENING SESSIONS): Training programmes are available in the following: i. Executive Certificate Course in Computer Studies (3 Months) ii. Advanced Certificate Course in Computer Studies (3 Months) i. At least possession of Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent for the Executive Certificate Course. ii. To qualify for the Advanced Certificate Course, candidates must obtain a minimum of Upper Credit at the Executive Certificate Course.

7 J. CERTIFICATE COURSE IN POULTRY MANAGEMENT, ANIMAL PRODUCTION, FISHERY AND SNAIL FARMING (WEEKEND PROGRAMME) Any literate Poultry/Fish farmer or those interested in Poultry/Fish farming can apply. Three (3) Months (Weekends: Fridays & Saturdays) K. DIPLOMA IN FINANCE AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY With the trend of development at the global level, there is the need to introduce technology into the curricula of Business and Financial Management in Nigeria in order to develop a middle-level manpower that will produce a high performance management framework. In view of the above, the Diploma in Finance and Business Management Technology of the Centre has been packaged into various options to achieve the objective. i. Candidates should possess O/L WASC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB at not more than two sittings with a minimum of credit passes in English Language and Mathematics and any other two relevant subjects. Two Academic Sessions of 4 semesters. L. DIPLOMA IN FORESTRY AND RANGE MANAGEMENT i. Four Credits including English Language and Mathematics, at WASC/NECO/GCE O Level or NABTEB ii. Mature candidates who have worked for at least five years in related area and who have undergone training at the Forestry Training School may be considered for admission. Two (2) Academic Sessions M. DIPLOMA IN SPORTS SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY i. Four Credits including English Language, Mathematics, Biology and any other subject at not more than two sittings at WASC/NECO/GCE O Level or NABTEB ii. FUTA Certificate in Sports Science. Two (2) Academic Sessions N. DIPLOMA IN LIBRARY MANAGEMENT i. Four Credits including English Language and Mathematics, at WASC/NECO/GCE O Level or NABTEB ii. Mature candidates who have worked for at least five years in related area and who have undergone Certificate in Library Management may be considered for admission.. Two (2) Academic Sessions

8 PURCHASE OF ADMISSION FORMS Application forms are obtainable from the Office of the Administrative Secretary, Centre for Continuing Education, Federal University of Technology, Akure at the rate of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00) only for Diploma Programmes and Two Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (N2,500.00) only for all other Programmes. Sale of forms starts from Monday, 2 nd July, 2012 and ends on Friday, 5 th October, Payment should be made at the Accounts Section of the Centre for Continuing Education. CLOSING DATE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS All completed application forms with the required relevant documents should be returned to the Short Term Courses/Certificate Programme Office of the Centre for Continuing Education not later than Friday, 19 th October, 2012 for all Programmes Candidates are expected to enclose four self-addressed stamped envelopes (35cm and 22.5cm) indicating the Programmes applied for at the top left hand corner of the envelopes.
