3 Welcome to Post 16 at Bradford Academy We hope you find this course booklet useful in helping you make the right decisions about your studies after Year 11. For September 2018 we are offering over 15 subjects at Levels 1, 2 & 3 in both academic and vocational courses. We always endeavour to meet the subject requirements of all our applicants and allow everyone to maximise their success and potential. Learners with 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 including English and Maths have access to select from all Level 3 subject choices, providing that they meet the specific subject entry criteria. Those who have 5 GCSEs grades 4-9 but did not attain a 4 grade in either English or Maths will have access to select some Level 3 subjects and the opportunity to resit the core GCSE not yet attained. Learners who cannot access Level 3 courses directly have the opportunity to study an Access course, which when passed, guarantees access to the Level 3 subjects or opportunities at college or in apprenticeships. Bradford Academy has an experienced and dedicated team to support you during your time with us. Whatever challenges and opportunities you face, we will be there to support you. OFSTED, on their last visit to us judged our provision as good and stated that Post 16 is well led and managed so that provision meets students needs well. The curriculum stretches from level 1 to 3 encompassing a good range of courses and learning styles are well matched to students prior attainment and aspirations. Students say they value highly the dedication which staff support them.

4 Level 2 Access The Bradford Academy Level 2 Access course is designed for those learners who achieve less than five 4-9 passes at GCSE. Resit Mathematics and English will be compulsory for those learners without a GCSE grade 4 or above in either subject. It is important that you read the course content carefully and choose the course that best suits you, your skills and ambitions. Bradford College One day a week all learners on the Level 2 Access course will attend Bradford College to complete a programme where learners gain employability skills and additional qualifications that are recognised by employers such as First Aid at Work, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding. The quality of the programme is carefully planned and monitored. This programme is used as a gateway for our learners who may potentially access college provision next year or want to go directly into employment or apprenticeships. Both the College and Academy will speak to the learners about the aspirations for the following year and throughout the year discussions will take place with their school tutor and the Academy s Prospects adviser to ensure each learner moves on to a viable destination.
