Researchers and MSCA Research Experience Mobility rule Early Stage Researchers ESR: in their first 4 years of FTE research experience, no PhD at the time of recruitment (ITN) Experienced Researchers ER: be in the possession of a doctoral degree or have at least 4 years of FTE research experience at the deadline of submission (IF) Must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity in the country of the host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to deadline of submission (IF) or prior to the time of recruitment (ITN) IF exceptions No mobility rule in RISE 8

MSCA IF: Objectives and modes Enhance the creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers by providing them with opportunities to acquire new knowledge, work on research projects in a European context or outside Europe Special eligibility conditions for those resuming a career, returning to Europe, moving sector PILOT 2016 Society and Entreprise (SE) Panel For fellows coming to or moving within Europe (Duration: months) For fellows from Europe going to Third countries and returning (Duration: 12 to 24 TC + 12 return to Europe) 12

MSCA IF: Eligibility criteria for researchers STANDARD EUROPEAN FELLOWSHIP (EF ST) ER from any nationality and country, who moves or will move to the host institution/country located in MS / AC Mobility rule: no + than 12 months / 3 years prior to the deadline in the host country CAREER RESTART PANEL (CAR): Restart a research career in Europe after a break in research ER from any nationality and country, who moves or will move to the host institution/country located in MS / AC Break in research: min. 12 month prior to the deadline of submission REINTEGRATION PANEL (RI): Return to Europe to a more permanent position ER national from a MS / AC or long-term resident Mobility from a Third Country to the country (MS / AC) where the host institution is located SOCIETY AND ENTERPRISE PANEL (SE): Research and innovation projects in non-academic sector Facilitating career moves between the academic and non-academic sector Only competition wiht other projects in non-academic sector (10 M for 2016) GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP (GF) ER national from a MS / AC or long-term resident Mobility rule to be fulfilled in the outgoing phase: Third Country (no + than 12 months / 3 years) Beneficiary: institution from MS/ AC Partner Organisation: institution in TC (Letter of Commitment) CAR, RI, SE: Multidisciplinary panels. Mobility rule more relaxed: no + de 36 months / 5 years prior to 14/09/

MSCA IF: Main Characteristics The proposal is prepared between the Experienced researcher (ER) and the Host Institution, who appoints a scientific supervisor (acts as contact point towards the EC). Secondments are possible: can be realized in a MS / AC, in the same or different sector Improvement of future career prospectives after this mobility and training scheme. Career development Plan: not only scientific objectives, but also training capacities throughout the project (transferable skills training, Publication planning, participation in conferences ). Bottom-up approach: 8 scientific panels + 3 multidisciplinary panels (CAR + RI+ SE). 14

MSCA ITN: Objectives Train a new generation of creative, entrepreneurial and innovative researchers, able to face current and future challenges and to convert knolwedge and ideas into products and services for economic and social benefit. Joint research training/doctoral programmes implemented by partnerships of universities, research institutions, businesses, SMEs and other socio-economic actors from different countries across Europe (and beyond). Focus on scientific/ technological knowledge through research on individual/personalised projects Exposure to non-academic sector Transferable skills training e.g. communication, research management, IP, ethics, societal outreach, entrepreneurship

19 II. MSCA ITN: Who can be recruited? EARLY STAGE RESEARCHES (ESR) ESR should be in their first 4 years of research experience and no doctoral degree at the time of their first recruitment in the ITN. Full time equivalent research, FTE (investigación a tiempo completo): is measured form the date when a researcher obtained the degree which would formally entitle him/her to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the researcher is recruited, irrespective of whether or not a doctorate is or was ever envisaged. Mobility rule: could not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the host institution for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the first contract in the ITN Recruitment period: min. 3, max. 36 months, 100% funding, 100% dedication-time 19

MSCA RISE: Objectives and characteristics Aim to promote international and intersectorial collaboration through research and innovation staff exchanges and Sharing knowledge and ideas from research to market (and vice-versa) for the advancement of science and the development of innovation. MAIN CHARACTERISTICS Project based in R&D and innovation activities through the secondment of personnel from the participating institutions Should involve institutions from the academic and non-academic sectors based in MS/AC and/or third countries Knowledge sharing via international and/or inter-sector mobility through two way secondments of (ESRs /ERs/support staff) with built-in return mechanism High impact expected, transfer of knowledge and technology Any country can participate in RISE (not all are eligible for funding) Duration of the project: 48 months. Max: 540 researchers-month 26

Duration 1 month, Max. 12 months (split stays possible) Staff must be active at their host for 6 months before secondment: Early Stage Researchers (ESR) Experienced Researchers Administrative, managerial or technical staff supporting the research and innovation activities under the action Must be reintegrated after secondment (no duration or mechanism specified) They must be actively engaged in or linked to research and/or innovation activities for at least six months (full- time equivalent) at the sending institution, before the first period of secondment. 27
