Produced PowerPoint presentations for the Academic Advising Center staff to use during New Student Orientation. Lectured two first-year seminar courses each fall and spring semester for the Entering Student Program. Program Coordinator (UTEP) Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) April 2000-November 2004 Managed a $5.1 million National Science Foundation grant for the University of Texas System. Planned and coordinated the annual undergraduate research conference for the UT System LSAMP program. Gathered and organized statistical data for the annual Government Performance and Results Act Review sent to the National Science Foundation. Prepared and made presentations on program assessment at national LSAMP meetings in Washington, DC. Maintained a database of all current and former students in the UT System LSAMP program. Created recruitment brochures and flyers for the state-wide Summer Research Academy and Bridge to the Doctorate.

Collaborated with regional program coordinators and faculty in the selection of students and mentors at alliance institutions. Coordinated bi-weekly graduate school preparation workshops for research students. Adjunct faculty for the Entering Student Program. Director Academic Advising Center Sul Ross State University (SRSU) June 1995 July 1999 Administratively responsible for undeclared/undecided advising, new student orientation, student disability services and developmental education. Implemented a developmental advising program for students on academic probation. Initiated and managed a campus-wide mid-semester grade warning system. Provided input into University policies and procedures that impacted the academic advising process. Provided academic, career, financial and personal guidance to college students. Coordinated testing services with Career Services and Testing Center. Advised students on the appropriate developmental course sequence needed to satisfy state requirements. Secured new funding for New Student Orientation. Planned, organized and implemented all activities and assessment of New Student Orientation. Created the training manual for orientation leaders. Developed an office procedures manual for the Academic Advising Center. Updated and distributed the university s Handbook on Academic Advising and annual Student Handbook. Collaborated with faculty to provide accommodations for students with disabilities. Facilitated professional development workshops for faculty, staff and student employees. Assisted in the planning of the university s recruitment plan with the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. Implemented the first annual Freshmen Convocation. Coordinated the second annual SRSU Heritage Festival. Compiled regular weekly, monthly, and semester reports. Compiled data for two federally funded grants. The course places strong emphasis on academic, career, life, and leadership skills necessary to succeed at the college level. UNIV 2350: Students in this course are introduced to approaches to technology assessment and examine social, cultural, and environmental consequences of technology. The course includes problem solving in small groups assigned to research, analyze, discuss, and arrive at possible solutions for a broad range of topics related to technology and society.
