2 Hello Marathon 4 H Members and Leaders! Decorations are everywhere; it s very clear that a celebration is near! As a 4 H youth or adult, is it obvious that you are a leader? Are you making the best better? In the weeks coming up, please take some time to reflect on your year in Marathon 4 H. What was the best part? Which days could have used some improvement? In what ways can you use more assistance from me? And how can you be of more help to your fellow 4 Hers? I m excited to see what 2017 will bring within our program. The potential I see in our youth and leaders is extraordinary! Let s continue to make Marathon 4 H the very best country program in Wisconsin. Best wishes for your holiday season! Megan Suehring Marathon County 4 H Program Advisor Merry Christmas from the Suehrings! Our Place, Our Community 2016 Wraps Up! The OPOC Project recently wrapped up their year long project featuring the values of rural life. Perspectives of eight youth and adults in Marathon 4 H were shared using art as the conversation piece. We would like to thank Eric Giordano of WIPPS for his partnership with this project. Youth and adults were charged with taking pictures of their own rural life to use as conversation pieces, which culminated in a rural issue guide lead community conversation held on December 1st, 2016 at Willow Spring Gardens. The group also spoke to the Marathon County Board in June. Please contact the office if you are interested in having one of the participants share more about their experience, or if you are interested in having the banners (large) displayed in your community. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to the eight Marathon 4 H Participants of 2016: Ariel Graveen, Emma Walters, Emma Loucks, Annabeth Bartelt, Martha Luckey, Linda Graveen, Jen Loucks, Rhonda Bartelt. Pictured is the group who spoke to County Board in June. Page 2
