4 Job description Post: Grade Head of Sixth Form Inner London Spine + TLR1D Responsible to: Assistant Principal Director of Sixth Form Student outcomes, the day-to-day running of the Sixth Responsible for: Form, the academic progress and pastoral welfare of the Sixth Form students and the future development of Sixth Form Principal Accountabilities: To assist the Principal and Assistant Principals in the overall leadership and management of the academy Sixth Form To provide professional leadership and management of the Sixth Form ensuring high quality teaching, effective use of resources, and high standards of learning and achievement for all students Main Activities and Responsibilities Main duties and responsibilities are indicated here. Other duties at an appropriate level and nature may also be required and will be negotiated. Promote high expectations in all aspects of Sixth Form and Academy life Lead and manage a tutor team to ensure that all students receive appropriate personalised support Work with Subject Leaders, and Personal Advisers, to drive forward the Academy target setting and support strategy. Set up and use data systems in order to systematically monitor and evaluate each student s attendance, attainment and progress, in liaison with the AVP Liaise effectively with Subject Leaders, teachers and parents/carers to ensure that each student makes expected progress, and plan appropriate interventions where necessary Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Sixth Form study rooms and other related facilities Plan and deliver the Sixth Form induction programme Organise and implement the Sixth Form enrichment activities Assist with the administration of admissions to the Sixth Form of both internal and external admissions (including being available on A level and GCSE results days). Assist with the marketing and recruitment activities for the sixth form Plan and implement the Duke of Edinburgh award for all sixth form students Contribute to the development of the Higher Education strategy

5 Produce reports and references as required, including contributing to the UCAS process Work closely with the work related coordinator and the Academy sponsors to develop a coherent work related/careers strategy for the sixth form Assist with the organisation of open evenings/consultation evenings and other events relating to the Sixth Form Work closely with the Year 11 Achievement Leader, Heads of Houses and the careers adviser to support the transition programme Develop and deliver a targeted support programme for the Oxbridge/Russell group students Work closely with local forums (e.g. Hackney Oxbridge Forum) Support the effective implementation of the Progression projects to targeted students To support the development of the CPD programme for tutors, teachers, subject leaders and TAs where necessary Lead and support Sixth Form assemblies and leaver s party Participate in the Academy Performance Management Scheme, agree an action plan and undertake the required training in order to update skills and meet the requirements of the Academy Strategic Plan. Supporting whole school and faculty Self-Evaluation strategies Support extended day activities to enhance student learning experiences To teach subjects and classes as required by the Principal Other Responsibilities include: Analyse and interpret relevant national, local and Academy data, plus research and inspect evidence, to inform policies, practices, expectations, targets and teaching methods Use data effectively to identify students who are underachievement in the Sixth form and create and implement effective plans of action to support those students Manage systems for target setting Be responsible for maintaining high standard of behaviour within the Sixth Form by enforcing the agreed Academy expectations concerning dress, behaviour, attendance and discipline Patrol corridors and visit Sixth Form lessons daily to ensure high standard of behaviour around the Academy site Work closely with students to create a distinctive Sixth Form ethos Liaise with outside agencies such as educational welfare officer, social services, police liaison officer, volunteers, PAs etc Organise and take Sixth Form assemblies according to the pattern established by the Senior Leadership Team Lead KS5 PHSCE Programme Standards/ Quality Assurance and Additional Responsibilities Support extended day activities to enhance students learning experiences. Adhere at all times to professional business standards of dress, courtesy and efficiency in line with the ethos and specialism of the Academy. Attend and participate in open evenings and student performances. Uphold the Academy s behaviour code and uniform regulations Participate in staff training and development Attend team and staff meetings Develop links with Governors, LEAs and neighbouring schools/ Academies.

Special Conditions of Service Because of the nature of the post, candidates are not entitled to withhold information regarding convictions by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975 as amended. Because this post allows substantial access to children, candidates are required to comply with departmental procedures in relation to Police checks.
