EDUCATOR S LICENCE (Blended Mode) Main Fields of Study: (iii) Business Education (Economics, Accounting, Business Studies, Travel & Tourism) Home Economics (Design & Textiles, Food Studies) (iv) Design & Technology Mathematics (v) Social Sciences (History, Geography, Sociology) (vi) Visual Arts (vii) English (viii) French (ix) Science with Physics or Chemistry or (x) Computer Education Biology (xi) Music (Oriental: Vocal or Instrumental)* (xii) Dance (Oriental)* (xiii) Hinduism* Asian/ Arabic / Islamic Languages: (xiv) Asian Language (Hindi, Marathi, Modern Chinese, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu)* (xv) Arabic (xvi) Islamic Studies* *In collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Institute (iii) (iv) A Cambridge School Certificate with Credit in at least five subjects including English Language obtained at not more than two sittings or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the MIE; A Cambridge Higher School Certificate or Passes in at least two subjects obtained at one sitting at the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level ; A relevant degree from a recognized university in the required discipline; and Personal and easy access to computer and internet facilities given that the course is run on a blended mode. Duration of Course: One Semester on a Part-Time basis 2

3 Course Fee: A fee of Rs 6000/- for the whole course is payable at the beginning of the semester 3. POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT (PGDEM) (For Deputy Rectors, Acting Rectors and Rectors/ Principals of Secondary Schools) Minimum Admission Requirement: Potential candidates should be practising in any of the above-mentioned positions. Duration of Course: Two Years (4 semesters) Registration Fee: A fee of Rs 30,000/- for the whole course payable in two equal instalments at the beginning of each academic year (excluding Library and Union fees). 4. CERTIFICATE IN SPECIAL EDUCATION (CSE) (For Educators or support personnel working in specialised schools) Minimum Admission Requirement: Five passes at SC/GCE O level including English Language or acceptable alternative qualifications/ relevant experience. Duration of Course: 2 Years (4 semesters) Registration Fee: A fee of Rs 1000/- is payable at the beginning of each year 5. CERTIFICATE OF PROFICIENCY IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (CPECE) (For Pre-Primary Educators) Applicants should hold a certificate of successful completion of an orientation/basic training programme from a recognized/registered institution/agency in the related field; and At least 3 years of proven practice in a registered early childhood setting. 3

4 Note: Applicants should have adequate access to an early childhood setting throughout the duration of the programme. Duration of Course: 2 Years (4 semesters) by Distance Education. Registration Fee: A fee of Rs 1000/- is payable at the beginning of each year FOR CANDIDATES IN RODRIGUES 6. POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT (PGDELM) (For Secondary Educators practising in Rodrigues) A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Or A first degree and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) A minimum of five years post-degree experience as Educator. Duration of Course: Two Years (4 Semesters) Registration Fee: A fee of Rs 30,000/- for the whole course payable in two equal instalments at the beginning of each academic year (excluding Library and Union fees). FOR BOTH MAURITIAN AND RODRIGUAN CANDIDATES 7. CERTIFICATE OF PROFICIENCY IN SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS (CPSEN) (For Educators, support personnel or cadres working in specialised schools) Holder of Foundation in Special Education provided by the MIE Or Recognition of Prior Learning (SEN) Certificate (Level 2) awarded by the MIE At least 3 years of proven practice in specialised schools. 4

5 Note: Applicants should have adequate access to a specialised school setting throughout the duration of the programme. Duration of Course: 2 Years (4 semesters) on a Blended Mode Registration Fee: A fee of Rs 1000/- is payable at the beginning of each year NON-AWARD COURSE 1. FOUNDATION IN SPECIAL EDUCATION Entry Requirement: Applicants should be Educators, support personnel or cadres working in specialised schools. Duration of Course: 45 hours over 1 year (during primary school term holidays) Registration Fee: A total fee of Rs 500/- is payable at the time of registration. General Notes: (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g) Online Applications should bear all relevant details as per the stipulated entry requirements since selection will be based solely on information provided online. A School Certificate pass in English Language together with a credit in English Literature or a Higher School Certificate pass in General Paper may be considered as an acceptable alternative to a School Certificate credit in English Language. Qualifications obtained after the closing date will not be considered. Seniority will be the determining criterion for in-service courses. As such, in-service educators have to prove their experience through testimonial(s) at the time of registration. The Post Graduate Certificate in Education programme will be accredited for future access to a Master s programme. Exceptionally, the MIE will accept application in hard copy only from those applicants applying for the Foundation Course in Special Education programme. Forms will be made available at the Reception desk. Courses will be run subject to satisfactory response in the respective programmes. 5

6 (h) (j) Candidates are required to follow only one course at a time at the MIE. Only successful applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications. The MIE reserves the right not to run any of the above-mentioned courses nor will it assign any reason thereof. Applications must be made online through the MIE website: Once the application is completed, an Online Declaration Form has to be completed, printed and signed while accepting the Terms and Conditions stipulated for the programme. The form should reach the Office of the Registrar, MIE, Réduit, by Monday 31 st October 2016 at 3.00 pm at latest. Applicants who do not have Internet facilities or are unable to apply online should call in person at the MIE, 1 st Floor, Teacher Education Section, during weekdays between to noon and to Facilities will be provided against payment of a nominal fee of Rs 200/- per application.
