This course will be using McGraw Hill s Connect Math platform. To access your course, you will need to go to and select Sign Up Now!. Here, you will need a 10 digit class code which is R3GME-NGLQP. Follow the prompts to complete your registration. The Connect Math access codes can be purchased at the FIU Bookstore or direct through the Connect Math site. You are not required to have a physical book, as Connect Math will contain an e-book. However, you do have the option to purchase the loose-leaf both at the bookstore and through the Connect Math platform. Topics include limits; continuity; differentiation and integration of polynomial, logarithmic and exponential functions with applications to business. In order to complete this course successfully, you must obtain a grade of C or better. Course Prerequisites: MAC 1140 with a grade of C or better (Knowledge of Precalculus Algebra).

2 Attendance: It is strongly recommended that you attend all class meetings. If you cannot attend a lecture, it is your responsibility to cover the missed material or to get the notes from a classmate. Classroom Decorum: In order to optimize your learning experience, classroom interruption must be kept to a minimum. Please, make every effort to arrive on time and avoid causing an interruption if you need to leave early. Please, turn your cell phone or any other noising electronic devise to a silent mode and avoid using it during class. In the event of an emergency, you may excuse yourself and leave the classroom. Office Hours: I urge you to avail yourself of my individual instruction during office hours. Do not wait until you are in trouble. If you have been absent or late to class, please read the lesson you missed and come to my office prepared with questions. Homework: It is strongly recommended that you do all the suggested problems in each section. Doing the homework consistently will do several things for you when it comes to take a test: Increase your speed and accuracy. Increase your confidence. Increase your understanding of the directions on the test Classroom etiquette: For the best learning environment, students are expected to arrive and leave on time, turn off all phones or beepers while in class, and not carry out side discussions while class is in session. Arts & Sciences Policy on Saving Instructional Records: It is the student's responsibility to save all material distributed by the instructor and 1. Make duplicate copies of all papers. 2. Save all examinations and papers that are returned. 3. Raise any questions about grades within 45 days of the date classes begin in the following semester. See student handbook REQUIREMENTS FOR COLLEGE OF BUSINESS STUDENTS For all FIU students initially starting a program within the College of Business since the Fall 2016 term, the GPA earned for the seven lower division Common Prerequisite Course (or equivalent) credit hours must be 2.5 or higher. Additionally, students must earn a C or higher in each of the seven lower-division Common Prerequisite Courses (or equivalents). Further, each of these courses cannot be attempted more than twice. Drops after the add/drop period, which result in a DR grade, are considered an attempt in the course and count as an unsuccessful enrollment. Common Prerequisite Courses include:

College of Business students starting a program since the Fall 2016 term, (a) failing to complete the seven Common Prerequisite Courses (or equivalents) with a 2.5 or higher, or (b) failing to pass any of the seven Common Prerequisite Course (or equivalents) in two attempts, can no longer continue to pursue any major within the College of Business. Effective Fall 2017 and going forward, each student within the College of Business gets two drops after the add/drop period, which result in DR grades, in their first 60 credits attempted as a College of Business student. Each College of Business student gets two additional drops after the add/drop period, which result in DR grades, in the second 60 credits attempted. Unused drops after the add/drop period, which result in DR grades, do not carry over from the first 60 credits attempted to the second60 credits attempted. Students entering the College of Business as transfer students with an A.A. degree from a Florida public college or with 60 or more transfer credits earned from another college or university only get two drops after the add/drop period, which result in DR grades. Students with disabilities who need to drop a course due to disability related reasons are allowed to petition for additional drops after the add/drop period, which result in DR grades. Students who can document extenuating circumstances may petition the College for additional drops. Approval to drop additional courses in excess of those allowed must be obtained from the College of Business. 4 Examinations and Grading Policy Testing/Grading: Four exams and a cumulative final will be given during the semester. Each one of the four exams constitutes 15% of the final grade; the cumulative final constitutes 25% of the final grade as well. If you miss one of the four exams and you have a documented valid excuse, the final exam will also be considered as a makeup for it.
