3 WHO WE ARE About NEC New England College (NEC) is a regionally accredited, private college* grounded in the liberal arts and located in Henniker, New Hampshire. Founded in 1946, NEC was established to educate servicemembers returning home after World War II. We provide a valuable foundation of knowledge necessary to excel in for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Developing critical-thinking skills, being able to write persuasively, performing quantitative analysis and making effective presentations are hallmarks of a liberally educated person who can help a business succeed in a rapidly changing global economy. AA Sociology Cover a spectrum of social issues that can prepare you to work with diverse populations, including seniors, juveniles and families in need. The program can also serve as a springboard to a BA in Sociology and graduate study in law, business, education, health and medicine, and social work. Also explore deviant behavior and social inequality. AA Criminal Justice Lay the foundation for a multitude of options over the course of your career, from local and federal law enforcement to social work. From the moment you first connect with NEC, you ll receive guidance and support through a number of touch points. Transfer up to 44 credits toward your AA/AS, or up to 90 credits toward your BA/BS. If eligible after individual evaluation, you can earn college credit for your life or work experience. Students in good academic standing with an accredited community college will be granted automatic acceptance through our CC2NEC program. 9

10 LONG-STANDING Military Support NEC maintains its founding mission of proudly welcoming students with military service. NEC provides all the financial guidance necessary to help you take full advantage of your military education benefits and special tuition rates to further reduce the cost of education. Active Duty We offer a special undergraduate tuition rate of $750 per 4-credit course for active-duty servicemembers, including selected Reservists and National Guard members, as well as their spouses and dependents. That represents more than 50% savings on tuition. Veterans A 10% tuition savings is available for veterans, Reservists, Guardsmen and their spouses, as well as for dependents of disabled or deceased veterans. Additional financial assistance may be available through U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Educational Benefits, including: Post-9/11 GI Bill * Montgomery GI Bill Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance (DEA) Program National Call to Service Program Prospective students should visit the VA website or call for information on these education and training programs. Associate degree (60 credit hours)... $24,300* Bachelor s degree (120 credit hours)... $48,600* Cost per credit hour... $405 Course total (4 credit hours)... $1,620 Federal Plus Loans Federal PLUS Loans are unsubsidized loans made to parents. If you are independent or your parents cannot get a PLUS loan, you may be eligible to borrow additional Direct Unsubsidized Loan funds. Federal Pell Grants Federal Pell Grants are available to undergraduate students and do not have to be repaid. Visit the Financial Aid Federal Pell Grant page for this year s maximum award amount. Federal Student Aid The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to apply for federal student aid, such as grants, loans and work-study. To determine your eligibility for federal student aid, complete the FAFSA, available at Interest-Free Payment Plans There are several interest-free payment options available that separate tuition fees into three payments over each session. Contact us to determine which of these flexible options fits you best. We accept all major credit cards. Federal Direct Loans Federal Direct Loans must be repaid and are available to those who qualify. If you qualify (based on need) for a Direct Subsidized Loan, the government will pay the interest on your loan while you are in school. Alternative Student Loans Many financial institutions offer commercial private education loan products that can supplement other financial aid to help you successfully manage college costs. *Textbooks and materials are not included.
