1 TUSCULUM COLLEGE PROFESSIONAL STUDIES Testing Packet For DANTE and CLEP Exams 2005 To register for an exam at Tusculum, you MUST contact Joan Carter to be added to the list. Paying for an exam at the Business Office or the Knoxville front desk does not register you. 2 TESTING POLICIES 1. Approval requests must be made at least 5 business days in advance of the date you plan to take the exam whether it is at Tusculum College or another institution. 2. Payments for testing at Tusculum must be made on the day of registering for the exam. Payments can be made by credit card, cash, or check. You are not registered until payment is received. 3. Payments for testing must be made through Joan Carter. 4. To register for an exam at Tusculum, you MUST contact Joan Carter to be added to the list. Paying for an exam at the Knoxville Center front desk or the Business Office does not register you. 5. A student may receive a maximum 30 hours of proficiency credit (DANTES, CLEP, etc.). 6. There is a two test limit per testing day. 7. If you do not receive an updated core sheet within 6 to 8 weeks (from the date of taking the exam) from Tusculum College showing that we have received your test scores, please contact the Registrar s Office. 8. Because of the multiple ways you have for earning additional core/elective hours, you are urged to confirm the approval of an exam that you are unable to take within 60 days. 9. A Student must wait six months (180 days) before retaking a DANTE or Clep exam that was not passed. PREPARING FOR AN EXAM 1. Study Courses are available from 2. For each test, there is a Fact Sheet that outlines the topics covered by each test and includes a list of sample questions and a list of recommended book references. You can obtain Fact Sheets by downloading them from 3. DSST Study Guide offers sample exams in the following subject areas: Business Math, Ethics in America, Financial Accounting, Human Resource Management, Introduction to Business, Organizational Behavior, Personal Finance, Principles of Supervision. The Official DSST Test Preparation Guide can be obtained through the TC Bookstore or 4. Online Practice Tests contain items, which reflect a partial range of difficulty identified on the Fact Sheet. Practice Tests are available on the following subjects: Drug & Alcohol Abuse, Ethics in America, Here s to Your Health, Human Resource Management, Introduction to World Religions, Principles of Finance, Principles of Supervision. Practice exams can be found at The price for each exam varies. ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM 1. Arrive on time. 2. MUST have Tusculum College ID. 3. Bring several No. 2 pencils with good erasers. 4. Do not bring books, an alarm watch that beeps, a calculator that beeps, a telephone, or pager into testing room. 5. Due to limited seating and Business Office issues, payment must be made upon registration or the student s name will be deleted from the testing list after 5 business days. Credit card or check Credit card or check (made payable to Tusculum College) will be acceptable payment. Checks may be mailed to the attention of Joan Carter, P.O. Box 5004, Greeneville, TN A student must wait six months (180 days) before retaking a DANTES exam that was not passed. 4 Directions to Tusculum College, Greeneville (Library Room 112) BUILDING 16 Directions From Knoxville/ Morristown: 1. Take 40 East until the 40/81 split (around exit 421) 2. Take 81 North towards Bristol 3. Exit #23 Greeneville, Bulls Gap, Mosheim exit 4. Take a right off the ramp towards Greeneville onto the 11-E Bypass 5. Stay on the Bypass for approximately minutes until you see a Waffle House on your left and a Hardee s on your right 6. Then take a right on Hwy 107 (towards Erwin) 7. Stay on Hwy 107 for less than a mile and you will see Tusculum College on your right and the Tusculum Eatery Restaurant on your left 8. After passing the restaurant, turn right on Shiloh Road. 9. Open parking (white lines only) can be found in the lot behind building #3 (Katherine Hall). Make a left on the road right after Katherine Hall (2 nd road on your left you turn onto Shiloh Road). Parking will be behind Katherine on your left. Directions From Bristol/Kingsport/Johnson City: 1. Take I181S to exit 38 (Boones Creek Road exit) 2. Take a right off the exit onto Boones Creek Road 3. Go all the way down Boones Creek Road until you come to the light in Jonesborough. Go to the right and merge into 11E 4. Stay on the Bypass for approximately minutes until you see a Waffle House on your right and a Hardee s on your left 5. Then take a left on Hwy 107 (towards Erwin) The rest of the directions are the same as 7-9 above. PARKING IN ANYTHING BUT OPEN PARKING (White lined parking spaces) WILL RESULT IN A TICKET AND POSSIBLY A DEVICE PUT ON YOUR CAR THAT WILL NOT ALLOW IT TO MOVE UNTIL THE FINE HAS BEEN PAID. 5 Study Materials are available at or or Revised: 08/04/05 Directions and Map to the Knoxville Regional Center of Tusculum College The Knoxville Regional Center is located on the west side of Knoxville at 1305 Centerpoint Boulevard near the intersection of Lovell Road and Pellissippi Parkway. As indicated in the map below, take I-40 to Exit 376A for Rte 162, the Pellissippi Parkway, going toward Oak Ridge. Take the second exit onto Lovell Road, making a complete circle under the Parkway. Take the first right into Centerpoint Business Park; the Tusculum building is the first one on the right.
