8 Outcomes of the FP MCA MCA fellows were of 140 different nationalities. 24% were from countries outside the EU Member States or FP7 Associated Countries. 21% of participants in Initial Training Networks were from the private sector. 95% of MCA fellows had employment positions two years after the end of their fellowship. 37% of MCA fellows were women, whereas on average 33% of EU researchers were female. Evidence that participating organisations improved their practices in respect of recruitment and working conditions.
9 Fellows at the cutting edge of science Stefan W. Hell, one of the winners of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry 2014 was awarded an MCA postdoctoral Individual Fellowship in 1996: 'a critical moment in my career'. 30 scientists supported by the FP7 MCA were involved in the 2012 discovery of the Higgs Boson at CERN. The 2016 discovery of gravitational waves, an FP7 MCA project contributed to the breakthrough with 14 early-stage researchers, coordinated by the European Gravitational Observatory. Takaaki Kajita Nobel Prize in Physic 2015 for the discovery of neutrino oscillations, which shows that neutrinos have mass, is involved in two RISE projects. Richard Henderson Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2017 for developing cryo-electron microscopy for the high-resolution structure determination of biomolecules in solution, was involved in an FP6 IF.

22 Example of Innovative Training Network (ITN) Project PURESAFE 'Preventing human intervention for increased SAfety in infrastructures Emitting ionizing radiation' Duration: From to EU contribution: EUR The network is led by Tampere University of Technology. The participants of the PURESAFE consortium are universities, international research organisations and industrial partners. Aim: enhancing career development and training of 15 Early-Stage Researchers in the field of systems engineering. The network answers to the increasing need of skilled and well trained researchers possessing a holistic system understanding of scientific and energy generation facilities. In addition to the training objectives, the project will significantly increase the RTD efficiency of public and private organizations in the life-cycle management and safe operation of the infrastructures. The trained researchers receive excellent career prospects on RTD of scientific facilities, knowledge intensive products and services, including decommissioning of nuclear power plants.

33 Example of Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) project EXANDAS ( RISE-2015) project aims at applying emerging eco-friendly Chemistry technologies in order to fully and efficiently exploit the wastes and by-products produced during the processing of aromatic/medicinal plants. Participants: six academic groups and six SMEs partners, from 4 EU + 3 TC The implementation of the EXANDAS project aspires to develop international and intersectoral collaboration, that will contribute to the most effective exploitation of natural resources and the development of novel cosmeceuticals and food supplements.
