5 NEXT WEEK: Ms. Noonkester and Ms.Tribble (Navarro, Dual Credit Coordinator) will begin meeting with each junior student individually to set up senior schedules and make sure everyone is on track for their associates. Some students may need to take summer college courses to complete their degree plan on the college side.

Off Period *You MUST have at least 6 classes during senior year Note: If you take summer courses you may have 2 off periods!!

Application: Apply Texas for most Texas colleges Global students already have an account used to apply to UT Tyler You need to use the same account The Common Application for colleges outside of Texas SAT or ACT test scores Official Transcripts Waxahachie Global High School- Request from Mrs. Barker (free) Navarro College- Request on Navarro Campus - Building A (10 free) UT Tyler Request online at ($2.50 each) Application Fee Varies with each college Fee Waivers are available to those who qualify (see Mrs. Cox in room 213)

Not Required by All Colleges Essay Prompts change yearly-wait for the application to open for the new year to see the current prompt Resume This can also be used to replace the section on Apply Texas that requires you to list your campus involvement, awards and community service Letters of Recommendation Request letters of recommendation at least 2 weeks in advance Provide a brag sheet or resume to the person you make your request to

10 Assured Admission to Colleges Top 10% rule in Texas, excluding University of Texas in Austin In addition to the above rule, most colleges have criteria set for assured admission: If a student meets the criteria, they will be accepted once they complete the applications process. Criteria are usually based on GPA, rank and/or SAT/ACT scores Students who do not meet assured admission criteria are still considered; however, it is a review process. Essay - If you are required to write an essay, include any extenuating circumstances that may have affected your grades in high school and how you overcame obstacles. Review process may take longer

13 When Should I take SAT/ACT? You should take the ACT and/or SAT in the spring of your junior year. If you want or need to improve your scores, you can then retake these tests in the fall of your senior year. All colleges accept both the ACT and SAT scores; therefore, you can take either test. Since admission and scholarship opportunities are linked to these scores, the higher the score, the more opportunities you may have. While some students choose to take one of the tests, others choose to take both to see which one they do better on.

17 UT Tyler College Application Fee is waived for Global graduates ($40) Global Seniors can apply for the Greater Texas Foundation Scholarship This GTF Scholarship program is specifically for Early College High School students and may pay up to 100% of a students tuition. In order to be considered a student must be: 1) Admitted to UTT 2) Must have a 2.5 or higher for college hours completed 3) Must have at least 50 hours of college work 4) Meet all deadlines 5) Complete FAFSA *NEW: UTT has assured admission to their nursing program for incoming freshman who meet certain requirements.

18 GTF Scholarship is also offered at several other institutions in Texas. The list changes yearly. Currently it is offered at UNT, U of Houston, UTT and Texas A&M. It may or may not cover costs as the UTT scholarship does.
