8 Inspiring consultancy and knowledge exchange Inspiring consultancy and knowledge exchange Focus area at faculty level: Strategic objectives at faculty level ST will: Critical success factors To succeed, ST must: Goals The goal for ST is to: Initiatives/ projects Therefore ST will: Strengthen the quality of the consultancy Strengthen research which supports consultancy Retain and recruit highly-qualified employees within consultancy Increase the number and impact of peer-reviewed publications which support consultancy and which are published in international Journals Provide new employees with consultancy tasks the necessary consultancy knowhow Ensure that newly employed researchers with consultancy tasks have a strong international body of scientific work Ensure that newly employed researchers with consultancy tasks have a talent for research collaboration Ensure financial incentives for the departments to take on consultancy tasks Develop courses aimed at new employees with consultancy tasks Develop a credit system for consultancy tasks by 2013 Establish a credit system for consultancy tasks Strengthen research-based consultancy Increase the scope of the faculty s total consultancy Maintain framework agreements with the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries and the Ministry of the Environment Identify and develop new national and international markets for consultancy Maintain the contract sum with ministries with a total volume of approx. DKK 420 million a year Increase funding from new national and international sources for consultancy tasks Proactively seek a long-term optimisation of existing and new framework agreements via dialogue with the Ministry of Food and the Ministry of the Environment etc. Participate in research strategy development work in collaboration with e.g. the Ministry of Food and the Ministry of the Environment as well as international authorities and businesses In collaboration with the Danish Centre for Food and Agriculture (DCA) and the Danish Centre for Environment and Energy (DCE) and the other main areas, develop new combined consultancy areas for potential national and international stakeholders Strengthen AU s visibility within consultancy Disseminate knowledge about the national centres externally and internally All stakeholders know the DCA and DCE and their tasks Establish professional websites for DCA and DCE in 2012

10 Study programmes of the highest quality Study programmes of the highest quality Focus area at faculty level: Strategic objectives At faculty level, ST will: Critical success factors To succeed, ST must: Goals The goal for ST is to: Initiatives/ projects Therefore ST will: Offer research-based study programmes of a high academic level, within strong professional contexts and with clear progression Ensure the students active participation in the teaching Ensure a strong research base Ensure dedicated academic s Achieve increased efforts from the students as measured in the study surveys The faculty s guidelines are used when revising and developing study programmes Make optimum use of the teaching resources Offer full-time BSc students min. 18 hours of teaching per teaching week Allocate sufficient teaching resources Prepare guidelines for developing study programmes Close study programmes which are not deemed to attract a sufficient number of students or to be strategically vital Strengthen the quality and internationalisation of the study programmes Strengthen recruitment for BSc and MSc programmes nationally and internationally Attract more students with the necessary potential Provide focused information about study programmes and educational choices to potential students Provide effective information about what is required to be a university student Increase the proportion of students completing a firstyear programme in the prescribed study period Increase enrolment in BSc and MSc programmes Increase the proportion of international students on the MSc programmes Reduce the drop-out rate but if occurring drop-outs primarily happen in the first years of study Initiate analysis work to identify successful students in order to target guidance before their choice of study programme Set up a pilot project re prequalification interviews Change the title of the BSc in Agriculture, Food and Environment to Agrobiology and combine the teaching with the BSc in Biology Coordinate the MSc programmes within the and agricultural area across the faculty Increase awareness nationally and internationally of the MSc programmes with a view to recruiting excellent Danish and international students Hold supervisory interviews with students at risk of dropping out Ensure an international educational at the faculty Ensure that ST s researchers with a foreign background and visiting researchers contribute to the teaching Increase the proportion of international teachers on the courses Allow the teaching in selected courses in the third year of the BSc programmes to take place in English

11 Ensure that newly employed foreign researchers very quickly learn about the form and content of the programmes as well as student expectations Strengthen the interdisciplinary element in the study programmes Ensure that space is made in the core subject study programmes for interdisciplinary courses or for carrying out interdisciplinary projects Remove any barriers to educational collaboration (within and across the faculties) Increase the number of study programmes containing interdisciplinary elements Allocate space in the core subject study programmes for interdisciplinary elements Improve the study Improve the teaching, learning and study at the faculty Focus on the researchers teaching competencies Ensure that the faculty s pedagogical units effectively develop and support teaching Introduce an efficient IT-based learning platform (Learning Management Systems - LMS) Have good physical and psychological study frameworks for students Ensure good possibilities for interaction between students and teachers Have attractive and modern teaching facilities Integrate physical study and reading spaces in the academic s Ensure the students a good psychological study Achieve a high level of satisfaction with the study as measured in the study survey Conduct performance reviews with teachers who receive poor teaching evaluations Ensure continuous pedagogical/didactic upgrading of teachers Implement a professional e-learning system In planning new or renovating older buildings, incorporate attractive and flexible study facilities integrated with the academic s Consider whether the quarter model needs to be modified or replaced by a semester model where exams for several courses are held simultaneously Draw up local policies and goals for study s Offer good frameworks for study-social activities
