What is Talentia TALENTIA Fellowship Program is an initiative by the Ministry for Innovation, Science and Enterprise in Andalusia, Spain, that provides postgraduate scholarships to students from Andalusia allowing them to study abroad in selected institutions. (138 recommended destinations in 21 countries). Talentia fellowships are addressed to university graduates with outstanding intellectual and human excellence, an international profile and commitment to the development of Andalusia. Our short term goals are: Reaching more and better candidates. Stimulating entrepreneurial spirit among awardees. Matching supply and demand of professionals in our labour market. Promoting alliances with leading universities around the world to promote our talent. A bit of history and a look ahead The Talentia Fellowship program was created in In the first call 23 scholarships were awarded. Since then, two calls have been opened each year. Below, the number of grantees per call (green figures), and the number of awards offered for the next two years (grey figures). Our budget till 2011 amounts to a total of 60 million euros million euros
What do we do TALENTIA Fellowships are awarded to students for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 24 months. (minimum of 2 and a maximum of 12 months in case of specialization programs). Guidance and Advice Assistance to candidates in their selection of programs and the admission process to further advance their educational careers. Economic Incentive ntive TALENTIA pays for tuition, travel expenses and a living allowance (housing, health insurance) for a maximum of two academic years. Return Plan Upon completion of the post-graduate course, Talentia awardees will receive assistance in joining the Andalusian job market. Furthermore, Talentia will encourage entrepreneurship, helping the awardees to launch their start-ups in essential sectors to Andalusia s economic development. Economic incentive The TALENTIA Fellowship includes: Full university tuition fee (TALENTIA advances all tuition expenses directly to each university). Monthly allowance: grantees receive an ample living allowance inclusive of housing and health insurance, based upon costs indexes and university estimates. (transferred to the student on a four-monthly basis). A return flight every six months (in accordance to the maximum of two academic years). # Average package: EUR #
Key phases in award process TALENTIA holds bi-annual calls awarding several hundred fellowships every year enabling successful postgraduate candidates to pursue masters or Ph.D. programs in leading universities and educational institutions abroad. Candidates come from all disciplines and apply directly for admission to the universities or educational institutions of their choice and apply separately to TALENTIA for the distinction of a grant. 1. Launch call for applications 2. Final date for submission of applications 3. Request for additional information 4. Additional information deadline 5. Evaluation & Selection Selections for TALENTIA Fellowships are conducted in two phases: profile evaluation and personal interviews, conducted by the TALENTIA Selection and Evaluation Committee. Profiles are evaluated for: Outstanding academic and professional merit, plus social commendations. Quality of the proposed program of study for which admission is considered. Proposed career and professional return plan. Foreign language proficiency or foreign university endorsing admission. To hone the process, personal interviews may be decided for select candidates in order to assess the candidate s global perspective, personality, creativity, initiative and leadership potential. 6. Publication awarded grantees 7. Acceptance deadline Commitment Grantees must pursue the program for which the scholarship was awarded adhering to the dates indicated in the application. Recipients commit to continue their career in Andalusia during 4 years starting within 18 months after completing the program.
Requirements Applicants must have: citizenship from an European Union member State a connection with Andalusia by birth, residence, work, university or blood an EU undergraduate degree graduated within 8 (10 years for specialization programs) before the application receipt of proof of application/admission to a university of international prestige Applications are completed and submitted online using digital signature. Application Requirements: Completed application form (dully filled in and signed) CV Official EU undergraduate degree Official document certifying connection with Andalusia Paper/essay on Return plan Although TOEFL, IELTS, etc. are not admission requirements of the fellowship, applicants must provide proof of sufficient knowledge of foreign language demanded by the university Document on state of admission process with university Additionally accepted: paper on social commendations, company support letter on possible collaboration upon completion of program, recommendation letters, etc. Applications will not be considered by the Evaluation and Selection Committee until all required materials are received. We are looking for: Talent Ambition Motivation International profile Entrepreneurial spirit Commitment with Andalusia
Talentia Profile Average age: 27 Average work experience: 2 years Average languages spoken: 2 Average experience abroad: 1 academic year Though in Andalusia more women than men go to university, there are more male than female awardees. This deviation comes mainly from the MBA candidates, as the male/female ration in leading business schools is around 1 to 3. As for the destination, most awardees go to European and North American universities. One of our challenges is placing more students in Asian countries, where Andalusian companies have interests. Most awardees take Masters programs. Up to 25% of awards have been reserved for MBA candidates since 2009 and the percentage is since then going up. As for the area of study, awards reflect proportions out of Andalusian universities. Since 2009 up to 60% of the awards can be reserved for programs in the areas of science and technology.
Academic partners MOU s To better serve students TALENTIA is advancing a dialogue with leading universities throughout the world that recognize international education as a means to mutual understanding, dynamic cooperation and growth. This network will support exchanges of information, ideas and goals that transform learning outcomes into remarkable educational achievements. The main objective of the Memorandum of Understanding is to facilitate academic/administrative cooperation between institutions and to promote alliances with leading universities around the world. Talentia Fellowship awardees will interrelate and make leading contacts with the world s most prestigious professors and with students from all around the globe, called upon to lead their sectors of activity. We would like to train a new generation of bilingual Andalusian graduates, with a global perspective and a wish to exploit their talent. Because they will become the leaders of Andalusia s future!
