2 Applications for the Fall Semester For the fifth year in a row, the number of fee-paid applications increased for the Fall 2002 semester. Applications rose 3.5% in Fall 2002 over the number of Fall 2001 applications. As shown in table 2, the number of positive responses to admission offers increased 14%, reaching 50% of all applicants who have been offered regular or conditional admission. Table 1. 6 Applications By Program Figure 3: Applications for Watson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences The Watson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences experienced the greatest increase in applications for the academic year. Total applications for the school increased by 29% for the last year and almost three-fold over the last five years. Interest in Computer Science, Electrical and Industrial Engineering has increased steadily since Figure 4: Applications for SEHD The School of Education and Human Development and Harpur College of Arts and Sciences witnessed an increase in the number of applications for the academic year. Applications for Harpur College increased by 4% for the academic year. Figure 5: Applications for Harpur College of Arts and Sciences On the other hand, both the Decker School of Nursing and the School of Management experienced a year of declining fee-paid degree applications.
