3 WELCOME As Principal of Regent College, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Regent family. The rapidly changing economic situation means having the right qualifications is more important for students than ever. Regent College divisions have been operating successfully for over 18 years, and this is the ninth year we have provided Higher Education programmes. We have built our reputation on well-qualified and experienced staff, small group sizes, and well-funded facilities. This allows our students to flourish and succeed whether it is to build their careers or go on to further study. We are dedicated to widening access to education for all prospective learners. As well as offering our services to 18+ students from across the country, we are recognised for our success in attracting applications from under-represented groups, those who are returning to education to gain new or higher level skills, and from those with varying levels of academic success in the past. We are able to work very effectively with students of all abilities to improve their prospects, carry them forward into achieving their academic aspirations, or to forge successful careers. We offer a range of business-related Higher Education courses that are designed with future professional success in mind. All our courses are fully accredited. At Regent College, as well as the Principal, we also have an Executive Principal who is responsible for the whole of the Regent Group and for meeting the College s strategic objectives and plans. 10 ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIPS All degrees and top-up courses offered by Regent College are awarded by our two trusted partner universities, Buckinghamshire New University and the University of Northampton. Buckinghamshire New University is a long-lasting established university with history dating back to An established educational institution for over 125 years it is renowned for innovation, teaching and student excellence. They are ranked as a top 20 UK University for student experience and teaching quality (NSS 2018), and in 2018 Bucks received a TEF Silver Award in recognition of their teaching excellence. They were proud to see Bucks ranked 16th in the UK for teaching quality (out of 130 institutions) in the 2018 Good University Guide. The University of Northampton is one of the youngest universities in the UK and continues to make an award-winning impact year after year. With multiple awards for its work in adding value to society, it recently received Gold accreditation in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Year Three and was the first university in the UK to be named as a Changemaker Campus in Both universities put students at the heart of everything they do. 11 EXTERNAL EVALUATIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS Regent College delivers high quality teaching, learning and outcomes for students. We consistently exceed rigorous national quality requirements for UK higher education. Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) In June 2018, Regent College was awarded TEF Silver status. Drawing on national data combined with evidence submitted by each university or college, the TEF measures excellence in three areas: teaching quality, the learning environment, and the educational and professional outcomes achieved by students. The level of satisfaction with teaching and academic support are exceptionally high and above the provider s benchmark and satisfaction with assessment and feedback is high and above the provider s benchmark. Continuation rates are above the provider s benchmark. Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) QAA works to safeguard quality and standards in UK universities and colleges, so that students have the best possible learning experience. QAA reports highlight good practice and contain recommendations to help improve quality. Regent College underwent a review by the QAA in September 2016 and received a commendable outcome from its 2017 monitoring visit. An annual return visit in September 2018 confirmed that we are continuing to maintain academic standards and enhance the quality of, and information about, student learning opportunities. Pearson Regent College is inspected by Pearson twice per year, once via an Academic Management Review (AMR), and once via a Standards Verification process. Our most recent AMR took place in March Extracts from the report include: A dynamic teaching team is supported by a robust administration process. Formal and informal tutorials are a great strength at this college. There are numerous opportunities for learners to achieve merit and distinction grades through individual and group activities. The college has very good quality assurance procedures ensuring the reliability of assessment and verification management. The Internal Verification process is robust, transparent and rigorously applied ensuring consistency across units and assessors. 12

TiC is designed to help you think better, set and achieve meaningful goals, and take actions which will lead to a productive and happy future. Led by Dr Selva Pankaj, CEO of Regent Group, and trained facilitators, the programme is unique to Regent College and is delivered digitally through our new virtual campus. It is based on in-depth, pioneering research into the science and methodology of personal achievement, and includes insights from many inspirational entrepreneurs and leaders from across the globe. 16 FEES AND FUNDING UK/EU tuition fees At Regent College, we provide students with the same rich experience as an international university, but at a competitive cost. If you would like to study with us, see the tuition fees below for the academic year 2018/19 the fees for the 2019/20 academic year will be published in due course. This possible increase will be in line with inflation. This allows us to provide tuition and course materials as directed by Pearson. You will be charged the registration fee if no funding is in place at the start of term. If you are applying for a loan via the Student Loans Company, you can claim this fee back once your funding is secured. The fee is payable via debit/credit card. Tuition loan and maintenance support All UK and EU students entering UK education are entitled to pay fees at the home rate for the academic years 2018/19 and 2019/20. Eligibility for fee assistance or maintenance support is also open to UK/EU students. This does not need repaying until the study period has finished and you are earning more than 21,000 per year. Funding UK/EU students may be able to borrow money to help pay for university or college tuition fees and to help with living costs. For more details, visit 17

17 THE STUDENT VOICE Our success is based on student satisfaction, which is why feedback is incredibly important. Each year we strive to do better, become more innovative and provide courses that our students can benefit and grow from. We can only do this through continuous, honest and transparent feedback. Combing qualitative input from students with our creative aspirations, we hope to excel in becoming the recommended educational institute for operational excellence and student support in London. The National Student Survey (NSS) 2018 The NSS 2018 survey, published by the Office for Students, surveyed over 320,000 students in the UK about their university experiences. Students were asked about a variety of factors, including the teaching on their courses, learning opportunities and resources, academic support and feedback, the university community, their students union and student representation, along with their overall satisfaction with the quality of their course. 19 FOUNDATION YEAR AND DEGREE COURSES Regent College foundation year and degrees are awarded by Buckinghamshire New University. An undergraduate degree from Regent College is a qualification that the world will recognise and appreciate. A degree is not a magic key that will open the door to your dream job, but it does make success more likely. Worldwide statistics prove that university graduates are less likely to be unemployed. Graduates also command salaries up to 40% higher than those without higher education. All undergraduate degrees at Regent College are designed to provide you with key subject understanding and insights. The aim is to prepare you for diverse employment opportunities across a wide range of industries. These are one-year bridging courses designed to prepare you for progression on to a degree programme. They are aimed at students who have the ability to take a degree, but don t have the formal qualifications to go directly on to a degree course. 20

20 BA (HONS) BUSINESS MANAGEMENT WITH FOUNDATION YEAR The BA (Hons) Business Management with Foundation Year allows you to develop your study skills and build confidence in your academic abilities, while identifying your own strengths and development needs for progression onto an undergraduate degree programme. Two of the modules enable you to develop your general academic study skills and your employability skills. The other two modules aim to equip you with the more specialised skills and understanding necessary for progression on to a Level 4 business qualification (first year of the degree). 21 Level 2 qualification in both English and maths by attending additional sessions. On successful completion of the foundation year, you will have met the entry requirement for progression on to the undergraduate degree programme offered by Buckinghamshire New University. Many of our students are in full-time employment or have family commitments. We strive for a diverse student group from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. The BA (Hons) Business Management programme will set you apart in the graduate market. During your course, you will be working on live project briefs giving you real business and industry experience. We have also ensured that many of our modules cover contemporary technology issues in business, futureproofing you for a modern business environment. Students choose to study business for a variety of reasons, and exposure to various disciplines. As a result, this programme offers a wide range of knowledge and skills, so you can pursue a career in any professional business-related role, such as operations and service management, customer management, project management or retail management. The expected level is IELTS 5.0 or equivalent, with no element below 4.5. These are our standard entry requirements, but we may consider lowering these for students that perform well in interview. You will also be asked to attend an academic interview. Suitability for entry to our programmes can be demonstrated in several ways and is not limited to academic qualifications alone. Applicants who do not meet our published entry requirements are encouraged to contact our recruitment and admissions team for advice. 25 Foundation year, degree & BA (Hons) Business Management (Top-up) HOW TO APPLY From choosing your desired course, writing your personal statement and submitting the application, you can count on our friendly Recruitment Team for help and guidance at every step of the way. Get in touch to make an initial appointment to discuss your situation. Step 1: Initial consultation. Step 2: Register. If you are a UK or EU applicant, you will need to apply through the UCAS website. You can register with UCAS directly or through your college. UCAS gives you the option of applying for up to five courses and charges you for each course you apply for. Completing the application is your chance to sell yourself. It is your moment to highlight the skills and knowledge you have learnt to date, any qualifications gained and why you want to study your chosen course. There is a step-by-step guide to help with applications on the UCAS website. Step 3: Interview. After applying for a course with Regent College, you will need to attend an admissions interview with our course team. Your recruitment advisor can book the interview for you and help you prepare for it. Step 4: Submit your application. This is the time to submit your application. Check that you have completed every section before submission. Once you have applied, you will receive an acknowledgement that your application has been received. If any further information is needed, we will contact you. You can use the Track section on the UCAS website to monitor the progress of your application. Offer received Once we have all the necessary information regarding your application, we will make a final decision. Our decision will be uploaded to the UCAS Track section and you will also receive a letter. If you are offered a place, the offer may be conditional or unconditional. If you have been accepted onto the course, you will then receive your joining instructions and more information about starting your studies. Stage 1: Offer selection You can keep track of all your applications through the UCAS Track section, including all the final offers you receive. Once you have heard back from all the universities you applied to, you will need choose which offer you want to accept, together with a back-up second choice. Stage 2: Offer acceptance The deadline for accepting an offer will be highlighted on UCAS Track, depending on your application submission date. 26

The Pearson Edexcel BTEC HND is designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications appropriate to the skills needs of a range of business sectors at RQF levels 4 and 5. Our HNDs aim to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to achieve your employment ambitions, fulfil your academic aspirations or make the most of new opportunities in your current role. The Pearson HND also enables you to progress straight onto the third year of a bachelor s degree, assuming you meet the other admission criteria and your application is accepted by the institution. This is called a topup degree. 28 HND IN BUSINESS (GENERAL) The HND in Business provides practical preparation, industry insight and technical advice in a general business context. With a strong vocational focus, it has been designed to develop the skills and techniques needed in business and enable students to apply their learning to real industry situations. Each unit is tailored towards helping you develop knowledge and skills across a range of business disciplines, including national and international marketing, management, accountancy, business growth and forecasting. This course is ideal for students who have an interest in developing their business understanding and capabilities, or who want to gain a higher-level qualification in business management to enhance their current career path. 42 Higher National Diploma (HND) ENTRY REQUIREMENTS GCSE passes at grades A to C including English Language, and either a minimum of one A Level at grades A to E, or a BTEC Level 3 Certificate or Diploma, or an Access to Higher Education Certificate awarded by an approved further education institution; or College-recognised certificated learning equivalent to the above. Where possible Regent College uses the NARIC database to determine equivalents to GCSE and A level qualifications; or Normally, two or more years of work experience at a managerial/supervisory/admin level relevant to the programme applied for. This must be evidenced via a personal statement, work experience form and successful interview, and supported by employment reference(s) indicating the duration of employment and the role. You may be eligible to join an HND programme if you have previous learning that satisfies the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the course you are interested in, normally with 90 credits (subject to syllabus studied previously). It is your responsibility to demonstrate this with objective evidence. Prospective students who are not UK nationals, or who are UK nationals but do not have GCSE English Language at grades A to C, are required to take the Regent College s Wembley English Academy English language assessment. If you hold IELTS grade 5.5, with both reading and writing at grade 5.5, you do not need to sit this assessment. If you do not meet the required standard of English in the assessment, you will be offered an English language course to help you improve your English to the necessary level to gain admission to the Pearson HND Business programme. 43
