1 Women's College Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah started a School in 1906 for the education of Muslim girls which ultimately became the Women s College, a maintained institution of AMU in UG girl students in the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences, Science,Life Sciences,Commerce, Agricultural Science receive instruction in the Women s College. FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES 1. Course of Study : B.Sc. (Hons.) Home Science with not less than 55% marks in aggregate and 55% marks in Science subjects (Any three of these - Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Home Science) FACULTY OF ARTS Important : (a) Candidate applying for admission to B.A. (Hons.) Courses should indicate only the main subject in the Application Form which she wants to offer. Subsidiary subjects shall be decided at the time of admission, subject to the options available. (b) In addition to the minimum qualification for admission to B.A. (Hons.) Courses, admission will be based on the merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in English and three subjects other than vocational subjects, offered In various Faculties of AMU. The condition of English is not applicable for admission to B.A. (Hons.) Arabic / Persian / Urdu for the candidates passed out from the Madaris recognized by A.M.U. 2. COURSE OF STUDY : B.A. (Hons.) Minimum Qualification : Senior Secondary School Certificate OR an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate. For admission to B.A. (Hons.) Geography Minimum qualifying marks will be 55% marks in aggregate. Following degrees of the Madaris / Instiutions mentioned below are considered equivalent for admission to B.A. (Hons.) 2 + Preference will be given to those candidates who offer Fine Arts as a subject at the Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent examination * Communicative English can be offered only as a main subject.candidates offering Communicative English have to take English as one of the subsidiary subjects. The 2nd Subsidiary, should be from among the Social Science Subjects (out of group 1,4,5and 6). PERMITTED COMBINATIONS FOR B.A. (HONS.) (Subsidary Subjects) a. A candidate offering the main subject in the Faculty of Arts shall not offer more than one subsidiary subject from the Faculty of Social Sciences. b. Candidates seeking admission to B.A.(Hons.) shall choose two subjects out of the following six groups as subsidiary subjects but not more than one subject from any group. c. Any of the combinations may be refused due to constraint of timetable of the concerned Faculty. 1. Arabic 1/ Persian / Sanskrit / Economics. 2. English / Philosophy / West Asian Studies / Statistics2 3. Urdu/ Hindi/ Modern Indian Languages (Bengali,Tamil,Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi and Kashmiri)3 / Sociology/ Mathematics4 / 4. Linguistics / Political Science / Functional Hindi / Urdu / Fine Arts 5. History / Psychology / Islamic Studies / Geography 6. Library Science / Tourism / Language Teaching and Translation / Education / Theology / Women's Studies 1. A candidate who has not studied Arabic at 10+2 or equivalent level is allowed to offer Elementary Arabic as one of the subsidiary subjects. Such candidates shall not be allowed to offer Advance Arabic. 2. Statistics shall be offered by only those who have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at the Senior Secondary School Certificate level and with Economics main. 3. Candidates who have not studied the language at the Senior Secondary School Certificate level shall not offer it as main or a subsidiary subject. 4. Mathematics shall be offered by only those who have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at the Senior Secondary School Certificate level. FACULTY OF COMMERCE 3. Course of Study : B. Com. (Hons.) Minimum Qualification : Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (Commerce) or an equivalent examination with not less than 55% marks in aggregate of English and Accounts and two subjects from amongst Economics, Business Studies, Business Organization, Commerce, Banking, Mathematics and /or Statistics. OR

3 Women Candidates who have passed the Diploma in Office Assistantship and Secretarial Practice (Diploma in Secretarial Practice) examination of this University with not less than 55% marks (in theory subjects only) in aggregate are also eligible. FACULTY OF LIFE SCIENCES 4. Course of Study : B.Sc. (Hons.) A candidate seeking admission to B.Sc.(Hons.) has to choose three subjects of which one shall be main and two subsidiaries.at least two of these subjects shall be from the Faculty of Life Sciences. 1. The following subjects may be taken as Main or Subsidiary Botany, Zoology or Biochemistry may be offered as Main 2. Chemistry may be offered as subsidiary subject only. NOTE : 1. Candidates with Biochemistry as Main subject shall offer Chemistry as one of the subsidiary subjects. 2. An applicant for B.Sc. (Hons.) Course should indicate only the main subject which she wants to offer. Subsidiary subjects shall be allotted at the time of admission.+ IMPORTANT: In addition to the minimum qualifications for admission to B. Sc. (Hons.) Courses, admission will be based on a merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in Physics / Home Science, Chemistry, English and Mathematics / Biology. For students who have offered Mathematics and Biology both, the higher marks obtained in one of these subjects will be counted for preparing the merit list. 5. Course of Study : B.Sc. (Hons.) Biochemistry with Biology / Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with not less than 55% marks both in aggregate and in Chemistry. 6. Course of Studies : B.Sc.(Hons.) Botany / B.Sc.(Hons.) Zoology Minimum Qualifications : Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent examination with not less than 55% marks both in aggregate and in Biology (Zoology and Botany).

4 7. Course of Study : B.Sc. (Hons.) FACULTY OF SCIENCE An applicant for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) Courses should indicate in the Application Form only the Main subject which she wants to offer. Candidates wishing to apply for admission to Main Subject of Faculty of Science as well as that of Faculty of Life Sciences should submit separate Application Forms to Faculty of Science and Life Sciences Details of Main and Subsidiary Combinations Course of Study B.Sc.(Hons.) For the candidates who have offered Mathematics and Biology both, the higher marks obtained in one of these subjects will be considered for determining the merit list. 3 Students taking Geology as the main subject shall be allowed to offer Physics as a subsidiary only if they have passed Mathematics in Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination. 8. Course of Study : B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics/B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics with not less than 55% marks both in aggregate and the subject concerned.for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) with Physics as main/subsidiary subject, the candidates should have passed Mathematics at the qualifying examination. 9. Course of Study : B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry with not less than 55% marks both in aggregate and in Chemistry. 10. Course of Study : B.Sc. (Hons.) Geography with not less than 55% marks in aggregate. 11. Course of Study : B.Sc. (Hons.) Geology

Note : Students taking Geology as the main subject shall be allowed to offer Physics as a subsidiary subject only if they have passed Mathematics in Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination. 12. Course of Study : B.Sc. (Hons.) Statistics with Maths/Statistics as one of the subjects with not less than 55% marksin aggregate. 13. Course of Study : B.A. (Hons.) FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES Minimum Qualification : Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate except in Geography. Minimum qualifying marks for admission to B.A. (Hons.) Geography will be 55% marks in aggregate. Any one from the following list may be offered as the main subject: Economics, Education, Geography, History, Islamic Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and Physical Education Permitted Combinations for B.A. (Hons.) Candidates seeking admission to B.A.(Hons.) shall choose two subjects out of the following six groups as subsidiary subjects but not more than one subject from any group. 1.
