6 DO YOU QUALIFY? You must be a full time student at AU You must be an active student You must be able to transfer 30 ECTS per semester from your study abroad You must fulfil specific requirements for the partner institution you apply for

7 SPECIFIC CRITERIA Business Development Engineer (BDE) o o 30 ECTS Minimum bachelor level MSc in Engineering Technology Based Business Development o 30 ECTS electives o Maximum 10 ECTS within traditional areas of social sciences, predominantly business administration o Minimum master level

8 SPECIFIC CRITERIA Check the academic regulations for your study programme regarding rules and regulations for your study abroad period Check with you study coordinator, if there are exams that you have not passed

10 APPLICATION DEADLINE The AU GO database opens 3 November 2015 for applications for study abroad in Autumn 2016 and Spring 2017 Possible changes until November The application deadline is 1 December 2015 You will receive an electronically generated confirmation by when submitting your application. The confirmation contains a copy of your application Answer to your application: January 2016 Let us know immediately if you for some reason do not want the position after all

15 PARTNER INSTITUTIONS - COURSE SELECTION Course Selection Courses should fit in your study programme (preapproval of courses is applied for after you have been allocated a position) Courses should fulfil the requirements listed in your curriculum 30 ECTS full semester s workload Finding the right academic programme and the relevant courses is your own responsibility AU/BSS will provide the best possible assistance, but in the end, it is up to you

16 PARTNER INSTITUTIONS - CONTINUED Additional information regarding application via AU GO Requirements and restrictions will be displayed in AU GO Check language test requirements TOEFL-test is required by most non-erasmus partner institutions GPA requirement by some institutions When submitting an application, make sure you can obtain 30 ECTS!

18 APPLICATION PROCEDURE AU GO Online application at Prioritize your destinations and apply for as many as you like. We recommend minimum 3 destinations (better to get your 3rd priority than going through the 2nd allocation round)

25 AU GO APPLICATION ATTACHMENTS Must be uploaded as 1 single PDF-file A complete course selection form for each of your priorities Language test, if one or more of your priorities have a requirements for this and you have already taken a language test Master s degree students holding a Bachelor s degree from another university must also submit proof of this. If you hold a foreign Bachelor s degree you must further enclose an explanation of the grading scale used in the country in question. Joint application document with signatures from you and your fellow student, if you wish to apply for study abroad together

26 COURSE SELECTION FORM You must complete a Course Selection Form for each of your priorities

27 COURSE SELECTION FORM This is NOT an application for pre-approval of courses Do not submit course descriptions together with the form The form is just to make sure that you only apply for institutions that offer relevant courses within your study programme Students who can find already pre-approved courses from their study programme in the AU GO database are welcome to list these courses in the course selection form

28 JOINT ALLOCATION You and your fellow applicant must complete an sign the document Joint Allocation

29 JOINT ALLOCATION You and your fellow applicant must both submit the individual electronic application, and in the section Special needs write that you wish to apply for joint allocation and add the fellow applicants name You and your fellow applicant must submit the exact same list of priorities in your individual electronic applications You and your fellow applicant must upload a completed version of the document Joint Allocation in each of your individual electronic applications Be aware that you will be allocated positions according to the applicant with the lowest GPA!

30 ALLOCATION CRITERIA GPA o o master GPA from bachelor diploma (weighted average) bachelor GPA from bachelor grades at the time of allocation (weighted average) Specific requirements listed in AU GO (e.g. GPA requirement by host institution) Joint allocation: lowest GPA Seniority of study (for university wide agreements) Once allocated a position, you cannot change it!

31 2ND ALLOCATION 2nd allocation round with remaining positions: February 2016 for students who applied in the 1 st application round but were not allocated a study abroad position All eligible students will receive information directly about 2nd allocation Available positions in 2nd allocation are allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis. You must show up in person

32 AFTER ALLOCATION Your international coordinator at AU will nominate you to your host institution You will receive application information from your international coordinator or the host institution The deadline for applying to the host institution may vary Take language test if required by host institution More information will follow at the after allocation meeting in January/February

33 APPLICATION TO HOST INSTITUTION Application online or paper Language proficiency proof, if required Other specific documentation if required: recommendation letters, bank statement, health statement, insurance documentation etc. Be aware that AU cannot guarantee you admittance to the partner institution

34 PRE-APPROVAL OF COURSES Not due until after you have been allocated a position Apply for pre-approval of courses as soon as possible AFTER the nomination Apply for pre-approval of courses with your study board through mit.au.dk Find more information about the application procedure on your study portal More information will follow at the after allocation meeting in January/February

35 FREEMOVER You may choose to go abroad as a freemover if you prefer a non-au partner institution You will need to apply on your own directly to the host institution start early! You will in most cases have to pay tuition fee We recommend that you register as freemover in the AU GO database during the application round. Just choose freemover as your first priority in the electronic application Please register as a freemover in the AU GO database before 1 December, if possible After 1 December, please bring a copy of your admission letter from the host institution to international coordinator, Lena Tarpgaard Møller, in room 2112 or send a copy by to lenam@au.dk

36 FREEMOVER If you register as freemover in the AU GO database, you will automatically receive invitations to relevant meetings and receive s concerning other information regarding your study abroad If you prefer going abroad as an exchange student, but want to go as a freemover in case you cannot be allocated a position, just choose freemover as your last priority in the electronic application You will need a pre-approval of the courses from your study board (apply through mit.au.dk) It is a condition that the study period abroad is fully credited in your AU study programme

37 FINANCING YOUR STUDY ABROAD Make sure you have enough funds to study abroad as there will be costs in connection with a study abroad e.g. travel expenses, insurance, visa, administrative fees, higher living costs etc. You have a big influence on cost size e.g. when choosing destination and living costs Prepare a budget

38 FINANCING YOUR STUDY ABROAD AU partner institutions - Europe When going on exchange to one of AU s partner institutions you will not pay tuition fee When going through the Nordic programme (Nordplus) or the European programme (Erasmus+) you will automatically be considered for a grant of approx Euros per month depending on the country you are going to You must fill in a Learning Agreement You must take an online language test before and after the study abroad period You must fill in an evaluation of your study abroad when you come home

39 FINANCING YOUR STUDY ABROAD AU partner institutions - overseas When studying at an overseas partner institution, you may apply for a BSS Travel Grant (Fakultetsstipendium) upon returning to AU (DKK 1,000 per transferred ECTS past 20 ECTS i.e. DKK 5,000 for 25 ECTS or DKK 10,000 for 30 ECTS) You will still receive you regular SU if you are eligible for that Legatnet.dk More info at:

40 FINANCING YOUR STUDY ABROAD Internship/placement Erasmus+ placement grant if your take an internship in one of the 32 countries participating in the Erasmus programme Your internship must be approved by your study board or study coordinator as part of your AU study programme As a rule you should receive at least ECTS per semester The length of your stay should be between 2-12 months The internship cannot take place in European Union institutions, other EU bodies including specialized agencies, organisations managing EU programmes The grant is approx. Euro 300 per month

41 FINANCING YOUR STUDY ABROAD Freemover You will have to pay tuition fee at the host institution You can apply for the Study Abroad Scholarship (Udlandsstipendium) to help you cover tuition fee, if you are eligible to receive SU The Danish students Grants and Loans Scheme and if the programme abroad is at SU s fast track list The amount depends on the field of study but approx. DKK 22,000 per 30 ECTS You must provide documentation that you have paid tuition fee, how much you have paid and what the tuition fee covers

42 FINANCING YOUR STUDY ABROAD Freemover - continued Should the tuition fee be higher that the Danish Study Abroad Scholarship, you must pay the remaining fee yourself or apply for a loan (udlandsstudielån) You will still receive your regular SU Legatnet.dk

43 CREDIT TRANSFER You will receive a transcript of records from your host institution after your study abroad period Apply for credit transfer with your Study Board through mit.au.dk More information will follow at the after allocation meeting in January/February

44 REEXAM In case you fail one of your courses while abroad, it may be possible to take a reexam contact your international coordinator when you get back from your study abroad. More information will follow at the after allocation meeting in January/February
