3 South Chelsea College prepares students from all over the world for careers in modern business and industry and for further study. The College is accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) and has been approved by the United Kingdom Border Authority (UKBA) for a sponsorship licence (SLN 14C9VYP94) under tier 4 of the points-based immigration system. The College offers programmes up degree level in Computer, Business and Travel Industry Studies. A range of classes in the popular English as a Foreign Language Department are also available. The British Computer Society (BCS) and Association of Business Executives (ABE) courses in IT, in Business Management and Travel.Tourism and Hospitality Management lead professional qualifications which are equivalent degree levels 4, 5 and 6 (the first, second and third years of a degree). Depending on the subject and level chosen they offer access a Masters degree or the final year of an Honours degree programme at Universities in the UK and other countries. SCC, which is located in one of London s most diverse and cosmopolitan areas, has a lively atmosphere with modern facilities. There are four computer suites running the latest software and over 100 work stations for students use. The College is small enough ensure care for the individual student but large enough attract qualified and experienced teaching staff. SCC staff will also help students choose the right course and register with suitable academic or professional bodies. Our reasonable fees mean students of moderate means can gain access quality education, which will expand their range of choices, opportunities and qualifications for the future. 4 COURSES Business Management The Business Management Studies section offers Association of Business Executives (ABE) programmes leading internationally respected and accredited professional qualifications. Students on these programmes come from a wide range of backgrounds, bringing with them appropriate qualifications and prior learning experience. Business Management IT (Computer Studies) Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management English Language (EFL) The Association of Business Executives (ABE) is a professional organisation offering public examinations in Business Management at QCF levels 4 Diploma, 5 Higher Diploma and 6 Graduate Diploma. To sit these examinations you have become a member of the ABE, and the College will assist students in applying for membership. A membership fee will apply. Students are placed on a Graduate Diploma route where they will undertake a three year programme at Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) levels 4 and 5, leading a further one year study for an advanced professional qualification from the Association of Business Executives (ABE), at QCF level 6. This Graduate Diploma qualification is the academic equivalent a UK University Degree and it is recognised by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA). Successful SCC Business Management Students gain internationally recognised ABE qualifications. Students completing their Graduate Diploma in Business Management are invited by several British Universities apply either for their MBA or for the final year of a BA Hons Degree programme in Business Management or in International Business Management via a one year p-up course. ABE examinations are accepted by the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. In addition, University of Cambridge ESOL Qualifications are offered ensure that students at all levels, from level 3 and above on the Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF), have access externally validated examinations. Successful completion of an ABE advanced diploma is equivalent a foundation degree at University. Entry a post graduate course or conversion an Honours Degree can be achieved at several British Universities. Students who complete a BCS Professional Graduate Diploma in IT will have achieved the equivalent of a UK (Hons) degree and will be eligible apply for professional membership and entry a Masters Programme. 2 3

The Computer Studies Department offers Chartered Institute for I.T. - British Computer Society (BCS) programmes leading internationally respected and accredited qualifications. This programme enables students develop analytical skills and a deeper understanding of the business and management problems covered at Diploma level 4. ABE Level 5 Diploma (higher) The Chartered Institute for I.T. - British Computer Society (BCS) is a professional organisation offering public examinations in computer studies at Certificate, Diploma and Professional Graduate levels. To sit these examinations you have become a member of BCS and the College will assist students in applying for membership. 6 graduate diploma ROUTE BCS Professional Graduate Diploma in IT BCS Certificate in IT This is the foundation level of BCS Professional Examinations and is the academic equivalent Year 1 of a UK university honours degree. It is recognised by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) as QCF level 4. This level is equivalent the 3rd year of a UK University Honours Degree. It is recognised by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) as QCF level 6. Information Systems Software Development Computer and Network Technology Success in these examinations qualifies the student progress either further study at diploma level, or appropriate employment. Completion of the Certificate in IT level means you are eligible apply for BCS Associate Membership (AMBCS). Students must demonstrate competence in English Language level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and must be able show evidence of having gained qualifications at level 3 of the Qualifications and Credit Framework, GCE A level or equivalent. Advanced Database Management Systems Management Information Systems Software Engineering 2 Network Information Systems The course culminates in a 3 hour written exam focusing on four of the above modules of your choice. Please be aware that practical experience is required answer some parts of the exam. Professional Project: (6 months may be completed alongside Professional Graduate Diploma) In order finish the Professional Graduate Diploma in IT candidates must complete a project, which will be the academic equivalent of a UK university honours degree project and has a recommended minimum study time of 300 hours. BCS Diploma in IT Successful completion of the project and examination enables you apply for selected postgraduate courses at university and means you are eligible apply for BCS professional membership (MBCS). This level is equivalent the 2nd year of a UK University Honours Degree. It is recognised by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) as QCF level 5. BCS Professional Graduate Diploma in IT or an equivalent NQF/QCF level 6 qualification for which you have received an exemption. The diploma develops students understanding of Systems Analysis and Design, Software Engineering and Computer Systems for Businesses. Students are additionally offered an introduction Java on this course. Professional Issues in Information Systems Practice Database Systems IT Project Management Individual project On completion of the diploma programme, students will be well qualified progress either the BCS Graduate Diploma, the third year of a BA(Hons) degree at a British University, further professional development or appropriate employment. Students completing their level 5 Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management are invited by several British Universities apply for the third year of a BA (Hons) Degree programme in Tourism Management. Success in these examinations qualifies the student progress either further study at diploma level or appropriate employment. Students who enrol for two years on the Degree Access route and who successfully complete the Level 4 Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management at the end of their second year, will be permitted progress the first year of the Diploma route. The Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management section offers Association of Business Executives (ABE) programmes leading internationally respected and accredited qualifications. It offers those with an interest in travel, Tourism and hospitality management an opportunity gain a relevant qualification and skills required for employment in this area. The Association of Business Executives (ABE) is a professional organisation offering public examinations in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management at QCF levels 4, 5 and 6. English as a Foreign Language English as a Foreign Language (EFL) courses prepare students for all levels of the University of Cambridge ESOL examinations. South Chelsea College is accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC), as well as belonging the Association of British Language Schools (ABLS). The College has a sponsorship licence under tier 4 of the United Kingdom Border Authority (UKBA) points-based immigration system. A variety of teaching techniques are used - students will work in pairs, in small groups and on a whole-class basis. The average class size is pupils and we are delighted have students from a wide range of different countries. The College is modern and well equipped, and where appropriate a range of language learning software is available in our extensive Computer Department. English as a Foreign Language The English as a Foreign Language Department at SCC is small enough ensure care for the individual student but large enough attract qualified and experienced teaching staff. Students are tested on arrival at the College ensure they are placed in the most suitable class. Our experienced staff can arrange specialist classes for groups where requested, please contact the College discuss your requirements. Situated in one of South London s most diverse and cosmopolitan areas, with a lively entertainment scene, excellent sports facilities nearby, and a colourful street market, the College is directly opposite an underground station (Vicria Line) and only ten minutes away by tube from the West End (Oxford Circus). South Chelsea College and School of English offers high-quality, affordable English Classes in a lively and trendy South London setting. We welcome both part-time and full-time students and our central location enables teachers introduce students many of the attractions of London within the course of their studies. In addition classes during the academic year, the English Language Department runs an exciting summer programme, where language practice is combined with language learning activities around London. Students who require a visa study in the UK must attend classes for a minimum of 15 hours a week and study this subject they must apply from a country where English is not the designated first language. English classes are available at all levels from Intermediate Advanced and Proficiency. The emphasis is on encouraging students speak fluently as well as enabling them achieve good levels of comprehension, writing and grammar. Courses are devised on a modular basis so that part-time students can choose study the particular language skills that they require, whereas full-time students (studying 15 hours per week) build up a comprehensive package covering all areas of language development. This flexibility is particularly valuable for students who already have some grasp of the English Language, but need help with specific skills, for example, pronunciation. Students may choose the length of their course from 1 month 1 Academic Year with shorter summer programmes available in June, July and August. Please note that South Chelsea College does not offer classes below Upper Intermediate level (B1) for any students who require a Tier 4 general student visa

9 Enrolment and Registration Payment of fees South Chelsea College generally enrols students on courses starting in September/Ocber, January/February and April of each year Students who have been accepted on a South Chelsea Course should check the precise enrolment dates they have been given by the College for their particular course. You can also check enrolment dates online at our website When you receive an offer of a place study at South Chelsea College you must pay your registration fee and full course fees in advance or a deposit of 1,220 (plus bank charges) through bank transfer. Please send a copy of your receipt and/or complete a payment advice form from our website so that we can ensure that your money has been received. A small fee for external, professionally accredited examinations will become payable during the course of each academic year. Students will be expected purchase books relevant their studies and join a library for which there may be a charge. How Register Please note - South Chelsea College is offering courses for students studying QCF and NQF level 4 or above. This means that in order enrol for your course you must meet the entry criteria required by the Awarding body in the subject you intend study. In most cases you will be required demonstrate that you have qualifications at A level or an equivalent NQF level 3 standard. All outstanding fees must be paid on the first day of arrival at the college. If the college enters in an agreement with the student allow payment by installments then an additional charge of 50 per term will become payable. If, for whatever reason, a student is unable start the course by the registration date on his/her enrolment letter, the college must be notified in advance by registered letter or receipted /fax. Failure do so would invalidate any possible refund. Applicants from non majority English speaking countries must have a United Kingdom Border Authority (UKBA) approved English language qualification before starting a programme of study at South Chelsea College. Acceptable English language qualifications are summarised in the table below, but you should check the UKBA website for the most up date criteria and ensure you send the right proof of test with your application. If your English meets the standard required for entry the UK, but we find it is not sufficiently advanced enable you follow your course of study we reserve the right request you undertake an English Language course before continuing in your subject area. Where your qualifications and application meet the minimum standard for entry a course, we will offer you an interview, either in person or by telephone, before accepting you for a course at the College. If you are offered a place study at South Chelsea College, it will be subject payment of your fees/deposit. It is important that you check the visa requirements with the British embassy in your country. 10 Guidelines for entry in the UK The UKBA (United Kingdom Border Authority) has introduced a points-based system for entry in the UK. This means that, in addition a valid passport, students will be expected show that they have the required number of points be allocated a visa. Students will gain points by showing: That they have a confirmed place at a recognised educational establishment which has been accredited by a UKBA approved accreditation agency That they have evidence of sufficient funds pay their fees and living expenses during the first year of their studies. The UKBA requirement is that students should be able demonstrate that they have a minimum of 800 per month or 9,600 per year in addition their College fees. This money is in addition any income earned by the student during the course of their studies in the UK. These guidelines are not a comprehensive list of requirements and you must make your own enquiries at the British Embassy. Accommodation Reasonably priced accommodation is available locally - a definite plus in a city as large as London. Many students initially stay with friends or relatives, and once they have settled they begin seek a flat or room of their own. The College can recommend an international student services organisation, which can arrange rented accommodation in London.
