1 Master of Science Technology Management Information for Applicants The one year MS in Technology Management (MSTM) program is an intense and wholly immersive experience. Here, you will learn how to think critically about competitive strategy and how to effectively execute it within a rapidly changing technological environment. Our program has a unique energy and place within a vibrant campus community. Through innovative, team based learning activities and engaging classroom instruction you will investigate the Frontiers of Technology, gain invaluable experience in multicultural collaboration and grow in understanding the responsibilities of leadership in quality organizations. You can customize your program by choosing an optional concentration in Supply Chain Management, Business Data Analytics, Information Technology and Control, or Corporate Governance and International Business. Whether you are an engineer seeking management acumen, or a business professional in need of more analytical training, the MSTM s ability to act as a bridge between the two cohorts is its hallmark. For Graduates to Professionals Beyond the bridging of engineering and business, the MSTM tailors itself to two groups of students; those who have a few years experience, and those are only recently finished with their undergraduate education. As such, the MSTM is ideal for both fast track professionals and recent graduates who want to distinguish and challenge themselves. Graduate Track (begins mid June) The Graduate Track is right for you if you have less than two years of work experience with a degree in engineering, science, technology, mathematics or are similarly qualified. This track enables you to gain a valuable business perspective about how companies strategically manage, use, and consider technology. Such an added perspective lends itself to a portfolio of skills that enables technological leadership and sets you apart from others. Our program thoroughly prepares you for leadership roles in any organization that deploys, creates, or shapes technology. You will broaden your scope of business understanding and enhance your capability to move quickly toward positions of responsibility. Advancement Track (begins August) The Advancement Track is for you if you have worked for over two years since undergraduate. This track will expand upon that experience and enhance your ability to be an effective manager in the marketplace. The curriculum approaches technology from a business perspective, emphasizing the strategic issues that confront executives today. This approach will significantly improve how well you perceive the synergies amongst technology, finance and business strategy. Beyond mere perception, executing on that kind of strengthened business intuition requires sophisticated analytical and problem

2 solving skills. By learning to put the two together, you will drastically elevate your managerial performance and thus prepare yourself to take on a leadership role in any organization. Apply at Program: Choose Technology Management Degree: Choose Technology Management MS Tuition and Fees The proposed tuition and fees for the cohort starting in June and August 2018 have not been established at this time. The previous year s tuition and fees were approximately $50,400. All tuition and fees are subject to approval by the Board of Trustees. Tuition and fee waivers are not available for this program. Curriculum The MSTM program consists of 40 credit hours taken over three semesters (one calendar year). MSTM s coursework can be divided into three categories: core business courses that build a solid business foundation, technology management courses that target management issues of technology, and professional developmental activities. Program Requirements for Application GPA of 3.0/4.0 for the last two years of undergraduate study and a 3.0 GPA for any previous graduate work completed from an accredited college in the United States or a recognized institution.

3 Bachelor s degree. Any students with a three year bachelor s degree must confirm that their degree is acceptable for admission, based on their country of origin, at: Proof of English Proficiency (non native English speakers only) o TOEFL minimum score of 103 (ibt) o IELTS minimum score of 7.0 overall o TOEFL or IELTS score must be less than two years old from the first day of class at the proposed term of entry in order to be valid. o Students may be admitted on limited status if the TOEFL ibt score is , or if their IELTS score is 6.5 overall with a 6 or higher in all sub sections. Limited status admission requires the student to take the English Placement Test (EPT) upon arrival at the University of Illinois. On the basis of the EPT results, applicants may be required to enroll in non credit English as a Second Language (ESL) courses. Students are currently charged $500 for each ESL course enrolled; subject to change. Tell us something about yourself that isn t on your resume that the admission committee will find interesting or entertaining about you as a person. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY: For International students seeking employment in the US: Realizing that the US job market is extremely competitive and challenging, if unable to secure employment in the US, what are your alternative plan(s)? 2 Hire Me Essay: Employers expect graduates from the College of Business at University of Illinois to have a set of skills including 1) excellent communication (both oral and written), 2) teamwork, 3) leadership, 4) analytical, 5) adaptability, and 6) flexibility. These skills are also critical to your success in the MSTM program. Consider the MSTM program as your employer for the next year and tell us in no more than 500 words what you have done to demonstrate these skills and why we should hire you. The College does not review unpaid applications. Applicants will be notified via when the application is received and if additional items are required. FAQ Frequently Asked Questions Application Information Page Fee Waiver Q: Am I eligible for an application fee waiver? A: Certain domestic applicants (U of I Civil Service Staff, Academic Professionals, Faculty, Employees of Allied Agencies, or applicants to designated programs, such as Project 1000, McNair Scholars, CIC FreeApp) may be eligible for an application fee waiver or exemption. If you are eligible for a fee waiver, choose the appropriate waiver in the application. Unfortunately, unless the applicant is covered by one of the waivers described above, the application fee will not be waived. International applicants are not eligible for an application fee waiver unless studying under an exchange contract that includes an application fee waiver.

6 Q: Where can I get a Declaration and Certification of Finances form? A: The form is available in pdf format within the online application or at Q: Do I have to submit a Declaration of Finance Form when I submit my application (International Students Only)? A: It is highly recommends that this form is submitted with the application. It will save time if admitted to our program. Students who submitted their proof of funding at the time of application received their I 20 approximately three weeks earlier than those who waited until admission. Q: Where do I send my official transcripts? A: Simple You Don t. The College does not require official transcripts unless you are admitted to our program. Once the I 20 is completed, it can take up to a week before it is received by Business Graduate Programs. The Business Graduate Programs Office then requests the document to be sent. A tracking number will be sent to the student.
