Thank you for applying to our Rey Feo Scholarship program. We are looking forward to working with each student that is awarded a scholarship during upcoming years from our organization. Committee of LULAC Council No.2 will review the scholarship applications in May. Everyone that submitted an application will be notified by mail if he or she was awarded a scholarship by our non-profit organization and the results of their application. ELIGIBLITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for a scholarship: High School Senior pending graduation or no more than 12 months after graduation. Must be a student pursuing full-time studies leading to a bachelor s degree at a college or university approved by Rey Feo Scholarship Review & Selection Committee. As a college student must have a college grade point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent or for entering freshmen, must have a high school grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent. Entering freshman must have a score of at least 23 on the ACT (composite) or at least 970 on the SAT test (combined verbal & math) for Honor Award. Must major in course leading to a four-year degree or an associate degree. Must show financial need and, no other LULAC Scholarship and/or over funding from other sources. APPLICATION PROCESS: Applicant must submit the following 1. For New Applicants, please complete sections A through Q. Make sure your High School Teacher completes section I. Submit your High School transcript. Make sure you attach your college acceptance letter. Last three years of income tax returns must be attached for either the parents or guardian. Letters of reference from three adults (at least one being a teacher or professor) addressed to Rey Feo Scholarship Inc. Include a complete telephone number and mailing address for each reference. Possible inquiry might be needed for processing scholarship application. Typed personal statement of not more than 300 words describing the professional and career goals of your studies, and why you want a Rey Feo/LULAC Scholarship. Explain how awarding you our scholarship would benefit our community. 2. For re-applicants, please complete sections A, B, E, F, G, J, K, L, N,P and Q. Attach official college/university transcript. Attach acceptance letter from college/university that you plan to attend with this award. 1

Recipients are required to be enrolled as full-time students and to maintain a cumulative college grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent to be eligible of the second and renewal scholarship disbursement. (Example: 4 th year, previous award number: SELECTION CRITERIA: The following criteria are used to select the finalists: Likelihood of pursing a successful career in college. Academic performance, writing ability, especially multi-lingual. Extracurricular activities, Community involvement & recommendations. Financial need, if not an honor student. Effects on the Community by awarding you our scholarship. DISBURSMENT FUNDS: Awarded monies will be distributed as follows: First half of Rey Feo Scholarship in the Fall of awarded year. After completion of the fall semester, recipients must submit a copy of their fall grade report and proof of their full-time spring enrollment with minimum of 12 hours status to the Rey Feo office to receive the spring semester disbursement. Maintain a cumulative college grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent to be eligible of the second installment of awarded scholarship for Spring Semester. DEFERMENTS: Applicants who submitted completed applications that were accepted and approved for award, but were not able to accept due to Military service, immediate family death, serious injury or sickness of applicant will be allowed to defer award up to 12 months. This scholarship competition is open to the citizens of the U.S. except the children of employees of LULAC and its affiliated companies, their advertising agencies, Rey Feo Staff, Board of Directors and members of the selection committee. Rey Feo Scholarship Program The Rey Feo Scholarship Program is intended to assist and encourage students in completing and advancing their college education. The program is directed specifically to San Antonio and surrounding area students with career advancement in mind. The Rey Feo Scholarship Program is sponsored and administered by Rey Feo Scholarship, Inc. a non-profit corporation of LULC Council No. 2, an Original Charter Council and affiliate member of the League of United Latin American Citizens. TERMS: The Rey Feo Scholarship Program will award $1,500 scholarships to qualified San Antonio area students who are enrolled or are planning to enroll leading to a four year or greater degree at a college or university approved by Rey Feo scholarship. The $1,500 awards will be divided into two equal disbursements made by September 15 and January 31. Scholarships awards are sent directly to the recipient s college or university and deposited in the recipient s name. The Funds will be allocated toward the payments of tuition and academic fees, and the purchases of required educational materials and books. The school is custodian of the funds and will disburse the awarded consistent with the purpose and policies of this program. Awarded funds determined as over-funded will be deferred for summer tuition or return to program s funds for other students. 2
