Today, the University enrolls 62,473 full-time students, 21,184 of whom are graduate students and 1,358 are international students from 102 countries. 6,220 faculty members, with 1,604 full professors have made great contribution to the academic excellence of the University. With the support from the Ministry of Education, especially from 985 Project and 211 Project etc., the University has taken it seriously to create a perfect climate for scientific investigation, educational renewal and personal development. So far, the University has established exchange and cooperation ties with 111 institutions in 24 countries or districts. Language requirements for Free Language Course HSK Intermediate C (level 6) / New HSK (level 5) 180 above Note: no language requirement for the students who apply for the program of Chinese Language Course (for none-native speakers). No free public language course. But we could arrange exchange students to take some Chinese language course free of charge. C. IF AN EXCHANGE STUDENT WANTS TO TAKE COURSES OTHER THAN CHINESE LANGUAGE COURSE FOR FOREIGNERS, WE SHOULD SEE IF THERE IS ANY INSTRUCTORS FOR HIM OR HER. Official transcripts will be obtained when each semester ends and grading procedures have been completed. Some will be available when the next semester begins. Official transcripts will be obtained at the academic advisor of your enrolled college. If you need your transcripts sent directly to your institution, please let the Section of International Exchange know which class you are enrolled in, and submit the address, names of recipient and a list of courses you have attended before you leave China. Upon arrival: Visa Pick-up service International students pursuing study in China should hold a student visa (X visa), which can be applied for and obtain in the nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your country. When applying visa, students are required to submit Admission Letter and JW 202 Form, which will be official sent to you by admission. * It is not required to hold an X visa if an exchange student pursues his or her study in China for less than 6 months. Free for. G. Other information: Residence Permit All international students need a residence permit if staying longer than 6 months in China. It could be applied after arrival. Health Examination Insurance Exchange students could bring the original health examination materials to China, or go through the necessary health examination procedure after arrival. All international students (including ) are required to have a group comprehensive insurance, which includes an Accidental Injury Medical Treatment Insurance & a Hospitalization Medical Insurance. Housing living expenses Average temperature in Changchun Scholarship Work permit On-campus housing Jilin University provides on-campus housing and meals for exchange students. There are two dormitory buildings for international students. All rooms are double occupancy. Off-campus housing You may get the information of off-campus housing from the Office of International Students (OIS for short), register at the local police station and get approval from the Public Security Organization. We do not offer home stay at present. The living expenses (on-campus housing and meals) will be approximately 2500CNY per month. Following is a rough estimate of expenses for a single person living in Changchun: Lunch or dinner at a restaurant Public Bus ticket 1.00 Taxi 1.95/Km Movie Ticket Changchun has four distinct seasons. Average summer temperature ranges from 20-25, highest being some 30, the weather is dry and usually air conditioning is not needed in summer. Average winter temperature is about -12 to -16, lowest rarely reaches -30. Although it s cold outside but rooms are well heated. You could enjoy skating and skiing in wintertime. None for International students (X visa holders) are not allowed to work outside the campus. But it is allowed if students take a part-time job on campus for financial aid. 5
