1 REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION SEPTEMBER 12, 2017 Seventh Avenue Multipurpose Room 7:30 p.m. The Haddon Heights Board of Education welcomes participation of the public and interested organizations. We will schedule time as appropriate for the public to speak at the Board of Education meeting. The length of time scheduled for public discussion shall be 30 minutes. For the initial public participation session on agenda items only, each participant is allowed to address the Board only once and each statement made by a participant shall be limited to five minutes duration. For the second public participation session, each participant is allowed to address the Board only once and each statement made by a participant shall be limited to five minutes duration. Presentation of HIB Self-Assessment Presentation of District Goals District Enrollment Update Activities going on in Haddon Heights, Barrington, Lawnside, Merchantville Recognition of Junior High School Students Executive Session RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SUPERINTENDENT: Personnel: 1. Approval to revise the start date of Jennifer Arcolesse, Jr./Sr. High School Vice Principal (7-9), retroactive to September 1, Approval of Theresa Klawunn to receive additional compensation of $5, for teaching an additional period for the school year. 3. Approval of Carolyn Kampe as a paraprofessional aide for the Band and Indoor Color Guard and Percussion for the school year. 4. Approval of the following substitute personnel for the school year: Teacher Fred Kimble 5. Approval of the following 100-day Substitutes for the school year at the rate of $90/day with no medical benefits: Robert Cook Janet Dagrosa Suzanne Jones Saralyn Morrisroe

Approval of Saralyn Morrisroe as a long-term substitute part-time special education instructional aide at Atlantic Avenue School, at a rate of $15.00 an hour, with no medical benefits, retroactive to September 7, 2017, through October 13, Approval of Caitlyn McCullough as a long-term substitute part-time special education instructional aide at Glenview Avenue School, at a rate of $15.00 an hour, with no medical benefits, retroactive to September 7, 2017, through September 29, Approval of family leave of absence for Grace Styer, part-time special education instructional aide, retroactive to September 1, 2017, through September 29, 2017, returning to work on October 2, Approval of paternity/family leave of absence for Matthew Baals, Elementary Guidance Counselor, effective November 28, 2017, through December 14, 2017, returning to work on December 15, 2017.

Approval of Kellyanne Lunn as the Night Custodial Supervisor, at a salary of $37, (prorated), effective September 13, 2017, through June 30, Approval of William Trotman as a full-time custodian/grounds with medical benefits, Level 2, at a salary of $28,163.00, effective September 18, 2017 through June 30, Approval of Keenan Hill as a part-time custodian at a rate of $10.15 per hour, with no medical benefits, effective September 18, 2017 through June 30, Approval of Tara Hatfield as a part-time custodian at a rate of $10.15 per hour, with no medical benefits, effective September 18, 2017 through June 30, Approval of Andrew Lydon to supervise open weight room for the school year at a rate of $15.00 per hour.

Approval of Jaclyn Jarden, a student from University of the Sciences, to complete her clinical internship under the supervision of Debra Lischak, an employee of Rehab Connection providing Physical Therapy services to Haddon Heights School District, effective October 23, 2017, through February 9, Approval of Robert Shaw as a bus driver for the school year at the rate of $20.00/hour. Programs: 28. Approval to revise the following Back To School Night Date: Glenview Elementary School Tuesday, September 19th (6:30pm) 29. Approval of the New Jersey Safe Routes to School resolution. 30. Approval of the submission of the ESEA application for Fiscal Year 2018 and accept the grant award of these funds upon subsequent approval of the FY 2018 ESEA application. Allocations are as follows: Title IA: $101,203 Title IIA: $17,884 District will refuse funds for Title III of $ Approval of the Mentoring Plan. 32. Approval of the District Goals. 33. Approval of the Uniform State Memorandum of Agreement between Education and Law Enforcement Officials for the school year. 34. Approval of the revised Crisis Response Manual for the school year. 35. Approval of the School Self-Assessment for Determining Grades under the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act for the Jr./Sr. High School, Atlantic Avenue School, Seventh Avenue School, and Glenview Avenue School. 36. Approval of Brett DiNovi & Associates to provide behavioral supports and services for the school year. 37. Approval of the facility use agreement for the Nexxt Level Aquatic Center for the swim team s practice site for the school year. The time frame runs November 13 th to February 9 th. We will have 6 lanes from 7:30-9:00 PM Monday-Friday on non-meet days. 38. Approval of the updated Athletic Booster Club Guidelines. 39. Approval of PTG s Proposed School Assembly Listing and Budget.
5 40. Approval of a delayed opening (10:40 am) at the Jr./Sr. High School on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, so all 10th and 11th grade students can take the PSAT. Seniors have the opportunity to also take the PSAT if they have not fulfilled their graduation requirement. 41. Approval of a coin drop fundraiser for the Girls Basketball team on Saturday, November 11, 2017, from 10 am-2 pm at the intersection of Clements Bridge Rd. and Browning Rd. Only parents and coaches will be collecting money. Students will be on the sidewalk with signs. Facility Use: 42. Approval of the following facility use requests: Crack of Dawn Basketball/Weightlifting to use the Jr./Sr. High School gymnasium from 5:30-7:00 am on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Stratford Men s Basketball to use the Atlantic Avenue and Jr./Sr. High School gymnasium from 7:00 9:00 pm as a backup facility on dates to be determined by the Athletic Director. Garnet Basketball League to use the Jr./Sr. High School gym for their Fall Varsity Summer League from 4:30-10:00 pm on Monday and Wednesday effective October 2 nd through October 25 th. Girl Scouts of Southern & Central New Jersey to hold their Brownie/Junior Girl Scout Troop meetings at Seventh Avenue School cafeteria from 6-7:30 pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month effective October 12, 2017, through June 8, Finance: 43. Approval of transfers. 44. Approval of a transportation jointure with Haddon Township Board of Education with Haddon Heights as the host district, route #CS1, in the amount of $11, Approval of the Treasurer s and Secretary s Reports for the month of June Reports are in agreement. In addition, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-16/10 (c) 4, the Haddon Heights Board of Education certifies that as of June 30, 2017, and after review of the Secretary s Monthly Financial Report and the Treasurer s Monthly Financial Report and upon consultation with the appropriate district officials, to the best of the Boards knowledge, no major account or fund has been over-expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23A (a) 1 and the sufficient funds are available to meet the district s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year. 46. Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23A (c) 3, I certify that as of June 30, 2017, no budgetary line item account has obligations and payments (contractual orders) which in total exceed the amount appropriated by the Haddon Heights Board of Education pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A: and N.J.S.A. 18A: and no budgetary line item account has been over-expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6: (a) 1.
