1 VIETNAMESE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION OF GEORGIA (VABA-GA) SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION Thank you for taking time to apply for a VABA-GA Scholarship. To ensure we have all the information needed for evaluation, please complete this application in full and follow all instructions. Once completed, please submit your application and all required documentation to VABA-GA as follows: By Mail: By VABA-GA Attn: Attorney Jenny Nguyen 5430 Jimmy Carter Blvd, Suite 202 Norcross, GA jenny@nspclaw.com ELIGIBILITY The applicant must satisfy all of the criteria below: (1) Applicant must be a permanent resident or citizen of the United States; and (2) Applicant must be of Vietnamese descent (father and/or mother has to be Vietnamese); and (3) Applicant must meet one of the requirements below: (a) Applicant is a Georgia resident* who is attending/will be attending college or law school in Georgia; or (b) Applicant is a Georgia resident* who is attending/will be attending college or law school out of state; or (c) Applicant is not a Georgia resident* but is attending/will be attending college or law school in Georgia. *In order to prove Georgia residency, an applicant must provide proof to establish a primary or permanent Georgia home at least six (6) months prior to the scholarship application deadline. 2 AWARD One scholarship is awarded in the amount of $5,000 for a student attending /will be attending law school. One scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1,000 for a student attending/will be attending college (for any major). DEADLINE The deadline to apply is June 30, All applications must be postmarked by June 30, REQUIREMENTS (1) Completed scholarship application (2) Most recent transcript (must be a certified copy from the school) (3) Proof of enrollment or acceptance letter from an accredited law school or college/university (4) Proof of U.S. legal permanent residency (e.g. green card) or U.S. citizenship (e.g. U.S. birth certificate, U.S. passport, or certificate of naturalization) (5) Official test scores (ACT, SAT, or LSAT) (6) Resume (1-page only) (7) Copy of driver s license (8) Copy of birth certificate (in cases where it is difficult to ascertain whether or not the applicant is Vietnamese) (9) Short essay as to why you should be awarded the scholarship (maximum length: 1 page, 1-inch margins, double-spaced, 12 font Times New Roman Resume (1-page only) (10) Letters of recommendation (Optional) Page 2 of 5
