1 Department/Program 3-Year Plan 1. In the grid below, please describe a few (no more than five) long-term, big picture goals for your department, discipline, and/or program over the next three years. These should be goals you feel are important for you, your students, and the college and should be supported by some of the shorter-term objectives included in your annual program review updates. Please also indicate the status of each goal (the categories Completed and Dropped should not be selected if this is the first time you are filling out this grid), and describe how the goal(s) align with the College s Strategic Master Plan/Educational Master Plan goals, department/program SLOs/PLOs, and/or LAMC s Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILOs). Also specify the actions and/or activities you are planning (or that are ongoing) that will enable you to achieve your goal(s). It is also important that you include measurable outcomes supported by data that signal the completion of the activities and actions. DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM 3-YEAR PLAN Department/Program Goal 1. Art/Art History: Add Gallery and Museum Studies Certificate 2. Hiring Committee Meetings The new hire for Music will be responsible for writing the curriculum. Work with the College to identify space and budget. Work with faculty to develop on-line shells. Spring 2016 Improved learning outcomes, improved enrollment and student success. Spring 2016 Degree will be approved. Music students will have a place on campus to practice. On-line courses will be offered. Humanities is taught by adjunct instructors who have limited office hours and will be working mostly from home on their shells. There are no FT faculty in Interior Design to help chair organize work. Time. We have received 229 applications. Can be an expensive program for the College as individual music lessons and practice rooms may be required. Space and budget. New faculty or adjunct faculty will need to develop shells.

Transfer Degree in Film/Cinema Curtis Stage will be responsible for alignment of curriculum and meetings with District Committee Work with faculty to develop on-line shell. Continue offering TA291 Rehearsals and Performance and creating shows each semester. Prepare students for larger productions once the new building opens. Promote theatre arts on campus in order to build enrollment and audience. Shell needs to be completed and approved. Gather the advisory board to meet in early Compile a curriculum that includes existing Mission courses and new courses. Acquire software and equipment. Forge an educational partnership certificate and get internships and jobs in the theatre arts. By , present a full season of student productions, with two shows each semester. All attainable by certificate and get internships and jobs in video design and production. Offered in Fall Enrollment in some of the more specialized courses will be an uphill battle. Currently, there is only one full-time theatre instructor. The opening of the new building. Hiring adjunct faculty. Building enrollment. Outreach into the community. Adapting a course about the live experience to an online forum. Enrollment. Acquiring the software and hardware necessary for the courses will take significant funds. Getting enrollment in a new program, in a field that is largely unknown, will be a challenge. Creating a new

We have added the AA in Gallery and Museum Studies, this Certificate will complement the AA degree. Los Angeles presents many work opportunities in Galleries and Museums. The Certificate will give our students and advantage in applying for internships and entry level positions, such as Assistant Preparator and Assistant Curator. 2. Adding a Sculpture Certificate will expand access for art students to work on their portfolios for jobs and transfer. 3. Adding on-line courses in Humanities expands access to our students. On-line classes are very popular and will help LAMC grow FTES. 4. Interior Design Certificates need updating to meet to current industry standards, LAMC may be offering too many Certificates in Interior Design.

6 5. New FT hire for Music needs completion. 6. Adding the AA-T Music Degree will create a needed program at LAMC and help us to grow and enhance cultural events on campus. 7. Adding music practice rooms will be essential to support the music program. 8. Adding on-line courses in Music expands access for our students. On-line classes are very popular and will help LAMC grow FTES. 9. Multimedia course offerings need updates to stay current within the Arts and Entertainment industry and for transfer. 10. Media Team/Bi-Weekly TV Program to have a voice and creative media outlet for students and programs. It would also give students valuable hands-on experience in media content creation. 11. Update Photography courses and add Certificate. Photography courses are very popular, but do to space and budget, many courses are not able to be offered. With the new building, we will have an exciting opportunity to grow this area. 12. Add Online courses in Cinema and Script Writing to increase access for our students and will also increase enrollment and retention. 13. A Transfer Degree in Film/Cinema will provide an easier pathway for our students to transfer to some of the highly competitive 4-year programs in Film. 14. The Theatre Arts AA-T degree will allow students to transfer their units to schools with more fully developed theatre programs, enabling them to enter the industry with a wider breadth of experience. 15. The regular presentation of theatrical productions will give students critical hands-on experience that will move them beyond the classroom and into the professional world, as well as augment the cultural life on campus. 16. Online theatre classes will increase enrollment, provide more students with opportunities to learn about theatre, and help feed into other theatre classes. 17. A Video for Performance Certificate will give students technical skills and experience in a creative field that is the future of performance, and will place Mission at the cutting edge of live entertainment.

7 18. New AM&P Building needs support staff. We are currently the only computer and technical based program(s) with no Instructional Assistant on campus. Faculty should not be expected to maintain computers and equipment. Violation of AFT contract. 19. A viable gallery program needs a Gallery Director. Faculty member Dr. Tom Folland was hired for his expertise in Gallery Exhibition. The release time is needed to develop a gallery program that will not only enhance our Institutional Learning Outcomes and Community Outreach, but also our PLOs and SLOs in the department by exhibiting quality work by professional artists in conjunction with educational programs that will engage the public and college community. 20. Develop Room Naming Brochure for AM&P building for fundraising. Room Naming will help us expand our outreach and fundraise seed money for our programs.
