1 Economics Transfer Pathway Program Guide Sheet Central Lakes College Campus contact(s) for this program: Michael Hopps, Program Description The Economics Transfer Pathway (AA) offers students a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an Associate of Arts degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated Economics bachelor s degree programs at Minnesota State Universities. The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor s degree programs in a related field. This Economics Transfer Pathway AA will transfer to the following designated majors (upon approval by the University and the system office): At Bemidji State University: Minimum transfer GPA: 2.0 Economics, B.S. At Metropolitan State University: Minimum transfer GPA: 2.0 Economics, B.S. At Minnesota State University, Mankato: Minimum transfer GPA: 2.0, or upon successful review by Admissions Office of Minnesota State University, Mankato based on evidence of a positive grade trend Economics, B.A. Economics, B.S. At Minnesota State University, Moorhead: Minimum transfer GPA: 2.0 Economics, B.A. At Southwest Minnesota State University: Currently No Bachelor s Degree in Economics is offered At St. Cloud State University: Minimum transfer GPA: A cumulative college GPA (all colleges/universities previously attended combined) of 2.0 Business Economics, B.S. Economics, B.A. At Winona State University: Minimum transfer GPA: 2.4; student s application with GPA between 2.2 and 2.39 will be reviewed by a transfer specialist Economics, B.A. (a minor is required)
2 A student with an AA economics degree must first meet the minimum requirement for transfer to a prospective university before being considered for its economics bachelor program. For more information, please consult the admission office of the prospective university. Although the minimum requirements for major admission vary among the seven universities, students with C or better in each of the four courses principles of microeconomics, principles of macroeconomics, college algebra and economic/business statistics (or statistics, or equivalent) will fully or partially qualify for admission to the economics bachelor program at any of the seven universities. Some programs may require additional courses that can be taken at the prospective university. The following is a list of course-specific major admission requirements of the seven 4-year institutions: Bemidji State University: None Metropolitan State University: A grade of C- or better in Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, and Economic/Business Statistics (or Statistics, or equivalent) A grade of C- or better in Math 210: Calculus I or equivalent; MATH 210 can be taken at Metropolitan State University A grade of C- or better in MIS 100: Fundamentals of IT in Organizations or equivalent; MIS 100 can be taken at Metropolitan State University Minnesota State University, Mankato: A grade of D- or better (letter grade option) or a Pass (Pass/No Credit option) in Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics Minnesota State University, Moorhead: None St. Cloud State University: A grade of C or better in Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics A grade of C- or better in College Algebra and Economic/Business Statistics (or Statistics, or equivalent) Southwest Minnesota State University: Currently No Bachelor s Degree in Economics is offered Winona State University: None

Required courses must be completed successfully according to the transfer University s standards.
6 Economics Transfer Pathway AA Degree (TPEC) Program Planner Revised 2/20/18 Name Student ID or SSN These requirements apply to new students, and students who have been absent from this college one academic year or longer. At least one semester before you plan to graduate, complete an Application to Graduate. A total of 60 college level credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher are required for an Associate in Arts Psychology Transfer Pathway Degree. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher in all Minnesota Transfer Curriculum courses is required to complete the MnTC. 15 credits must be earned at Central Lakes College to be eligible for an Associate in Arts Degree. Classes may meet requirements for more than one goal area, but credit will not be awarded for any course twice.
