2 Welcome Letter from the Head Teacher March 2018 Dear Applicant Thank you for your interest in the position of Head Teacher at St Lawrence Church of ngland Primary School. St Lawrence Church of ngland Primary School is a welcoming school with a warm, family feel, where children feel safe. The school is committed to providing education of the highest quality within a happy, secure Christian environment. We currently have 144 children on roll from Reception to Year 5. In September 2017 St Lawrence made the transition from lower school to primary and our current Year 5 will be our first Year 6 cohort in September As part of our transition to primary we will have two new classrooms and work will start on this project in May. We also have nursery provision on the school site, with 21 children currently on roll. At the age of 11 the majority of children transfer to Sharnbrook Academy. As a Church of ngland school we promote a strong Christian ethos, nurturing the social and spiritual wellbeing of our children, and ensuring everyone is treated with equal respect and opportunity. We are looking for someone who will not only support our Christian ethos but recognise its significance in raising standards. We are looking for an ambitious, dynamic Head Teacher to lead the school on the next stage of our journey to becoming a full primary school. We are in the process of moving towards federation with Christopher Reeves Primary School in Podington to commence September Our new Head Teacher will have the support of a newly formed federated Governing Board and an excellent leadership team, including a recently appointed Senior Teacher. 4 Job Description Post Title: Salary Scale: Responsible to: Head Teacher Leadership Governing Board The Head Teacher, who is accountable to the Governing Board, will be an inspirational, professional and dynamic leader with the vision, drive and passion to build upon the school s strengths and achievements. The Head Teacher will be responsible for ensuring that the School's strategic planning takes into account the views of parents, carers, children and staff. They will also ensure that all aims and objectives are met fully by the appropriate deployment of human and financial resources. The Head Teacher will ensure that all staff put safeguarding and the welfare of children at the heart of the School's operation so that all children can develop their abilities in a nurturing and inclusive environment, where discipline and good behaviour underpin the school s vision for all children to participate, learn, enjoy and achieve. The post will be performed in accordance with the provisions of the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions document and within the range of teachers' duties set out in that document. Management of Resources and Premises Promote creativity, innovation and the use of appropriate existing and new technologies to achieve excellence Agree and set appropriate priorities for expenditure with the Governing Board; allocate funds and monitor the effective administration and control of school budgets so that the School secures its objectives Deploy and manage the school s financial and human resources efficiently and effectively to achieve the school s educational goals and priorities in line with the school s strategic plan and financial context nsure school buildings and facilities meet the needs of the pupils and staff and are of the highest standard of cleanliness and repair and compliant with health and safety regulations. xplore and develop additional sources of funding Stakeholders and the Local Community Secure the commitment of all parents, carers, PTA and the wider community to the vision and direction of the school Liaise, consult and provide all necessary information to the Local Authority, Diocese and Df as required Act at all times as an ambassador for the school in a manner which upholds its values and ethos Work in partnership with the Head Teacher of Christopher Reeves Primary School. Accountability and Governance Develop a culture in which all staff recognise that they are accountable for the success of the school and its reputation Work with the Governing Board to analyse and plan for the future needs and further development of the school within the local, national and international context Present a coherent and accurate account of the school s performance in a form appropriate to a range of audiences, including parents, the local authority, the local community, Ofsted and others, to enable them to contribute effectively The Head Teacher may be asked by the Governing Board to undertake other duties reasonably regarded as falling within the duties and responsibilities of the post.
