5 PROSPECTUS FOR FIVE YEARS INTEGRATED B.A. LL.B. (Hons) Course (CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM) INTRODUCTION The Fakir Mohan University, Vyasa Vihar, Balasore was established by the Government of Orissa, under Section 32 of the Orissa Universities Act, 1989 (Act 5 of 1989) and it was notified vide the Government s Notification No. 973 dated 3rd July, The University has also been duly recognized by the UGC under section 2(f) of the UGC Act by the Notification No. F-9-1 / 2000 (CPP- I), dated 11th February 2000 as well as under section 12(B), vide UGC letter No. F.9-1 /2000 (CPP-I) dated 23rd December, It has also been accredited by the Association of Indian Universities, vide their letter No. Meet: SC: 261:2K/108693, dated 22nd August, At present it is functioning in two campuses: the old campus at Januganj, besides the N.H. near Remuna Golai and the new campus at Nuapadhi, in and around Balasore town. The Fakir Mohan University is committed to develop itself as a value and need based quality education provider in the state of Odisha in general and Balasore and Bhadrak district in particular. It has the ultimate objective of producing qualified and competent manpower responsive to the changing needs of the society at the national and international level. To fulfill the long standing demands of the people of North Odisha Fakir Mohan University introduce the Five Year Integrated Course from the session under Self Financing mode at Balasore Law College, Balasore. The curriculum is designed as per the guidelines prescribed by the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. PROGRAMME OFFERED F.M. University has decided to impart Five Year Integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) course at Balasore Law College, O.T. Road, Balasore from the academic Session The course has been designed in the same line taking into account the standard prescribed by the UGC and Bar Council of India, New Delhi. The course is at par with the syllabus prescribed by the leading Universities/Law Schools in India offering Five Year Integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Programme in law. STUDENT STRENGTH The student strength is 60 seats per year. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS A candidate shall be eligible for admission into 5-year B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), If he/she has passed +2 Examination (at least 10+2 pattern) securing a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate for General and 40% marks for (SC/ST). APPLICATION PROCEDURE Candidates seeking admission into 5 years B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Degree Course shall apply in the prescribed form obtainable from the office of the Principal, Balasore Law College, Balasore on payment of Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred only) in cash or by sending a Bank Draft of Rs. 600/- (Rupees six hundred only) drawn in favour of the Principal, Balasore Law College, Balasore. Candidates shall write their full name on the back of the Bank Draft. Application forms can be downloaded from the college website-

6 The application form duly filled in by the candidate shall reach the office of the Principal at respective Colleges on or before last date mentioned in the advertisement/notification. The forms can be submitted either by person or by post. The institution shall not be held liable for any postal delay. The following documents are to be attached along with the Application Form: 1. Attested copy of HSC/SSC OR equivalent Certificate and Mark sheet. 2. Attested copy of CHSE/SSE certificate & Mark sheet. 3. Attested copy of Conduct Certificate from the Institution last attended. 4. Attested copy of Caste Certificate in case of SC/ST category. 5. Four Passport size photographs signed by candidates. 6. Two self addressed envelopes (9" X 5") 7. Original Money receipt of the Application form. ADMISSION PROCEDURE Selection of the student shall be made strictly on the basis of Merit i.e mark secured at +2 or equivalent exams. SELECTION FOR ADMISSION Selection for admission will be made on the basis of merit of the candidate. The selected candidates in order of merit from the merit list will be intimated by and also the list will be notified in Notice Board of Balasore Law College. RESERVATION Reservation of seats will be as follows- 1. 8% of the seats for the SC and 12% for ST category students. In case of non-availability of candidates in these categories, seats will be filled up from the candidates of the other category. 2. 3% of the total number of seats will be reserved for physically handicapped students at the time of admission. In case of non-availability, the seats will be filled up from the merit list. 3. However the reservation is subject to rules framed by the Govt. of Odisha from time to time. COURSE FEE Each candidate is required to pay a sum of Rs. 30,000/- (Rupees thirty thousand only) (Rs. 20,000/- as course fee and Rs. 10,000/- academic fee) per annum for admission, in shape of Bank Draft in favour of the following- Rs. 20,000/- shall be drawn in favour of FM University, SFC Fund. AND Rs. 10,000/- shall be drawn in favour of Principal, Balasore Law College. COURSE STRUCTURE B.A. LL.B. (Hons) Degree shall be awarded to candidates on successful completion of ten semesters. In ten semesters, there shall be 60 papers with 6 papers in each semester carrying 100 mars.
