2 Responsible to: Accountable to: Subject Leader - Psychology Dean, Faculty of Health and Society Overall Purpose The University of Northampton provision in Psychology is expanding, requiring new posts to support the portfolio. We are seeking a qualified individual in the area of Forensic Psychology, although and ability to contribute across the Psychology undergraduate and postgraduate provision is an advantage. You should be a highly motivated individual, able to contribute to teaching, supervision, and module leadership. For a Senior Lecturer post you should demonstrate potential for Programme Leadership. Some experience of teaching in the Higher ducation sector is desirable. You should have a postgraduate qualification in psychology, preferably to PhD level. Principal Duties and Responsibilities To programme / module lead and teach across the area of Forensic Psychology Contribute to the development and delivery of Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses. At Senior lecturer level to provide module leadership on relevant undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. To provide supervision to students on the Psychology undergraduate and at Senior lecturer level postgraduate programmes where appropriate. To make a contribution to the development of the research and consultancy profile of the Psychology subject area through relevant research activity (funding applications, publications, conference contributions and/or other outcomes), and by participating in an applied and/or externally supported research/consultancy/knowledge transfer agenda. To support students through personal and professional tutorials, and dissertation supervision (including undergraduate, masters and possibly doctoral students). To provide professional leadership within the context of specific course responsibilities; including course, module leadership and employer liaison, where relevant. To undertake other professional activities as appropriate relating to the plans and priorities of the subject team, Psychology subject area and Faculty, eg: course/module management, admissions, curriculum development, Quality Assurance activities, student selection and interviews, participation and attendance at open days, etc. To undertake, where required, appropriate professional updating and staff development to support high quality teaching, curriculum development and research. To participate in internal and external networks related to the role in order that the University of Northampton will benefit from the knowledge that this will bring into the institution and also from the personal contacts that will be made. 3 To undertake any other such duties that would normally be expected from an individual of this level: in respect of teaching, research, scholarship and curriculum responsibility. Generic Duties and Responsibilities The postholder will be expected to undertake other responsibilities and tasks as reasonably requested by the Subject Leader or Dean of Faculty. The postholder will be responsible and accountable for ensuring all employment legislative requirements are adhered to including equality and diversity and health and safety issues. 6 Terms and Conditions of mployment Job Title: Duration: Hours: Salary: Work Base: Pension: Holidays: Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychology Permanent Full Time: 1.0FT (37 hours per week) Lecturer Grade 7: 33,518 37,706 per annum Senior Lecturer Grade 8: 38,833-47,722 per annum Waterside Campus or any of The University of Northampton premises as required ligible to join the Teachers Pension 35 days per annum plus Bank Holidays and Closed days. Notice period: Probationary period: 2 months 12 months Additional Points to Note Applicants are required to provide two referees who can give an opinion on academic and/or professional work experience. Successful applicants are required to provide any stated/required qualifications and evidence of any memberships to professional bodies.
