The School of Social Sciences and Humanities currently offers six programs of study starting Fall 2015 in the following fields: History, Philosophy, Sociology and Anthropology, Arabic Language and Linguistics, Political Sciences and International Relations and Comparative Literature. Note: The Doha Institute might announce on its website before the end of this current year, the launching of more programs: Legal Studies and Media Studies. If not for the upcoming Fall 2015, the launching of these programs will be postponed until Fall The School of Public Administration and Development Economics currently offers two programs of study starting Fall 2015 in the following fields: Public Administration and Policy and Development Economics. The purpose of this section in the application form is to understand the grading policy used at the applicant s university and to calculate the overall average obtained or expected to be obtained by the end of this year in case the applicant did not graduate yet. - Due to the differences in grading policies between different countries and different universities, the will evaluate applicants grades based on the grading policy implemented in their universities from which they graduated. Some grading policies are based on qualitative descriptions (such as Excellent, very good, good, acceptable or High distinction, distinction) whereas others rely on the grade point average (GPA) system. 11 5.3 Academic writing Sample (optional at this stage) Applicants who meet the minimum institutional admission requirements and their applications are transferred to the 2 nd phase of admission i.e. school/department evaluation will be asked to submit an existing sample of academic work (e.g. a research paper or essay) written during undergraduate studies. Though this sample is not mandatory at this stage nevertheless the admissions office highly recommends providing it to support the application. 13 7. LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY EXAMS 7.1 English language assessment The Doha Institute of Graduate Studies requires that all applicants demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English. Applicants must submit TOEFL or IELTS results to fulfill this requirement, if they have not graduated from an English speaking university in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom or Australia or are non-natives A. 14 8.1 Applicant Curriculum Vitae: 8. ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS AND WORK EXPERIENCE Document-10: Applicants must provide an updated copy of their curriculum vitae (CV) in Arabic. The CV must state all high schools, institutions and universities attended by applicants and should specify the following information: A Sequential statement of dates and periods spent by the applicants, since high school and until the date of application, studying, working, training or unemployed along with a brief description of what has been done during each period as well as in case any certificates or qualifications or experience were obtained or in case applicants published research or participated in books and obtained awards and certificates of appreciation in any period of these periods. This is particularly important for those who have graduated few years ago. 13
