2 Himacha Pradesh University T he Himacha Pradesh University was founded on Juy 22, It is ocated at Summer Hi which is at a distance of 5 kms from the main town, Shima. The University is nested amidst ta and ush green trees of deodars, oats, pines and rhododendrons. The ocation of the University presents a panoramic natura view among the woods, setted around Summer Hi. The camps where one haf bathes in the fresh sun towards the east and another haf in the grandeur of unique sunset on the West. The Himacha Pradesh University set up a Directorate of Correspondence Courses immediatey after its estabishment in The University has payed a pioneering roe in aunching the programme of distance education at under graduate and post graduate eve. It was the first University in India to impart instruction at under graduate and post graduate eve in sociasciences, humanities, commerce and teacher training through the mode of distance education. The Directorate of Correspondence Courses graduay adopted the muti-media approach to impart instructions and has been renamed as the Internationa Centre for Distance Education and Open Learning (ICDEOL). 6 Institute of Integrated Himaayan Studies (UGC-Centre of Exceence) The Institute of Integrated Himaayan Studies is the UGC Centre of Exceence which has been estabished in Apri 2002 in Himacha Pradesh University.
