1 Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland Report on Collaborative Research Grants Submissions, number of awards, and success rate 1.1. Summary data 84 applications were submitted by the deadline of 31 st January applications were judged ineligible. 43 applications were shortlisted for review by a selection committee of Carnegie Assessors. 9 awards were made, 1 of these was in Arts, Humanities, 7 in Science Engineering and Technology and one interdisciplinary between Arts and Science. The total amount awarded was 419,971 and the average value of award was 46,663. The overall success rate was Peer review process 79 Carnegie Research Assessors contributed to the review process. Due to the high number of applications and to avoid potential conflicts of interest, additional academics were recruited as reviewers at universities across the UK, and internationally. Assessors were asked to review proposals against the following criteria: Significance and originality Feasibility Collaboration Outcomes and outputs Overall quality Following a first sift by the Carnegie staff a long list of 43 proposals were sent for peer review by the Carnegie Assessors, then a shortlist of 22 applications were selected by Prof Andy Walker and Daniela Bolle for review by committee.
