It was started by the then Hyderabad state and was affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad and then latter it was transferred to the Marathwada University, Aurangabad. Further college was transferred from Marathwada University, Aurangabad to PDKV Akola. College of Agriculture, Parbhani was affiliated to PDKV, Akola till 1972 when MKV, Parbhani was established and this college become the first constituent college of the University. The college was established to develop agricultural technologies, educate, train and generate agricultural experts and to cater the needs of the farming community. It is a matter of great pride and privilege for the people of Marathwada and Parbhani, that college celebrated its Golden Jubilee in the year College celebrates its 60 years of establishment in the year Growth of Institution The college offers B. Sc. (Agri), M. Sc. (Agri) and Ph. D. degree programmes. Initially the B. Sc. (Agri) programme was started in 1956 with the intake capacity of 32 students which is now increased to ICAR students. PG programme was started in with the intake capacity of 6 students in each of nine disciplines. At present the intake capacity is 12+ ICAR students in each discipline. The Ph. D programme was started in 1978 with intake of 27 students in 9 various department disciplines, which is now increased to 33.

2 The College of Agriculture, Parbhani adopted trimester system with a view to imparting advanced knowledge in the subjects with more emphasis on practicals. However, experience of initial stages suggested that the trimester system was more rigid and did not take into consideration the cropping season of this country. Objectives: To educate, train and generate agricultural experts. To develop agricultural technology. To carry out need based and applied research in agriculture. To develop and transfer agricultural technology to the farmers of the region. To provide solutions to the problems of farming community. To develop the technology for agro-based small scale industries. To provide technical advice and guidance to the entrepreneurs in the region. Mission: 1. Develop sound economically viable and socially acceptable crop production technology through sustainable use of natural resources. 2. Strengthen post graduate research in frontier areas like agricultural Bio- Technology, precision farming, GIS and remote sensing applications, Hi-tech agriculture and horticulture. 3. Enhancing eco-friendly crop production technology through minimum loss due to biotic and abiotic stresses. 4. Ensuring minimum cost of production through technological intervention. 5 Ensuring better prices of farm commodity through post harvest technology.

4 Mode of admission for under graduate degree programme The MCAER Pune implement and coordinate centralise online admission of UG for SAU in Maharashtra. An advertisement is published in leading news papers by MCAER, Pune in the month of May/June after declaration of the XII std. results. Applications in the prescribed proforma are called from eligible candidates for under graduate courses. The details regarding UG courses, colleges with their intake capacities, reservations of seats documents to be enclosed with the application form are given in the advertisement. The admission procedure and schedule/calendar are given in the prospectus. Students 12 th standard marks and CET Score along with additional 20% marks (vocational courses, 7/12 and landless labour certificate) are considered for admission to UG degree programme. University quota (U quota), Maharashtra quota (M quota): For admission to under graduate courses, 70% seats of the admission capacity will be filled in from amongst the students who have passed the qualifying examination from the school or the institution situated in the University area (U quota) and remaining 30% seats will be kept open for all the students i.e. State quota (M quota). Admission to all the under graduate degree programme are on merit basis. Other State quota (OS) The 2% seats reserved for the candidates having the domicile of other State from India and whose parents have not stayed in Maharashtra State for minimum of three years within the period of ten years preceding the admission year, such seats shall be termed as Other State Quota : OS quota. ICAR quota 25% of the total seats for all U.G. courses shall be reserved to be filled in from all India basis through Common Entrance Examination to conducted by ICAR, New Delhi (it includes 10 % seats over and above the sanctioned intake capacity). This provision relates to constituent colleges. The constitutional reservation is followed as per directives of state government. Mode of admission for Post graduate degree programme Since academic year the common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted by Maharashtra Agricultural University Examination Board, Pune for admission of the students to Post graduate degree programme in SAUs. 30% weightage of UG CGPA and 70% with weightage of CET marks is considered for admission to the PG degree programme.

In this system each academic year is divided into two terms not less than 20 weeks called semester. Subjects to be taught are divided into self contained units called courses. These are taught in a semester through lecturers practical s, library reading, and field work assignments etc. The students admitted to B.Sc. (Agri.) degree course have to complete one semester as rural work experience in the farmer field as per the recommendation of V th Dean s Committee report of ICAR, New Delhi. The getting hands on training the students are exposed to VIII semester for Experimental Learning Programme. Class room equipped with LCD facility Curricula Development / Revision Process The academic curricula is regularly updated and revised in the light of the developments place and as per the theoretical and practical requirements of different and programmes. Some course/subject in degree programme is added while those old are obsolete from the curricula.

A new and revised curriculum for post graduate degree programmes was introduced and is in institution since academic year as per the directives of the NCG and ICAR, New Delhi. Syllabus is revised after 10 years by Dean s Committee. Adoption of ICAR Model Curricula and Deviation U.G. courses As per the V th Dean s Committee the new degree course/subject based Academic programmes are implemented from PHYSICAL FACILITIES (INFRASTRUCTURE) The infrastructure facilities play an important role in organization of the College activities i.e. teaching, research and extension education. Since the inception of the college, the college has made adequate efforts to develop the required infrastructure facilities namely academic block lecture halls, a well equipped laboratories in the college, library, staff quarters, students health centre, play grounds, guest houses, scientist home, farm cattle shade, gardens, farms, irrigation facilities and so on. The college of Agriculture has six class rooms out which four class rooms are supported with smart teaching facilities eighteen laboratories for UG and PG in various departments and separate PG class rooms in each department.

Library The Central University library is close to the college building, students and staff members are exclusively using central library facilities. Each department is having library facilities which cater the need of some important titles of text books and reference books. In addition the thesis depositories are also maintained in each department.

The seminar hall is equipped with all audio visual aids such as PA equipments, LCD projector and one computer system. Boy s hostel The college is having five boy s hostels and one high quality international hostel with the accommodation capacity of 1200 boy s students of UG & PG. The hostel is attached with separate mess facilities. Girls hostel At present the university is having three girls hostel with attached mess with the accommodation capacity of 200 girl students. However, considering per cent reservation for admission to ladies and growing interest of the girl students in taking admission, the present girls hostel facility is inadequate. Hence, one separate hostel with accommodation capacity of 100 girls students is needed.

Auditorium A well furnished auditorium with advanced audio visual facilities is available in the college building. The auditorium is having capacity of 740 seats.

Scooter/Cycle stand The scooter stand of size 50 sq m and a cycle stand of size 120 sq m is available for parking the scooters/cycles of staff and students of the college. Sports complex The college is having separate playground. However as the college is in the campus in the university, University playground is being used by the students for the events like kabaddi, khokho, football, basketball, cricket, long jump and high jump which are arranged at one place. Water supply facility to the playground is also available. The provision of floodlights to the basketball court is also made. Table tennis facility is available at one place. Permanent badminton court with light arrangements is also available separately. A gymnasium hall, where 30 students can be accommodated at a time is available equipped with a station multi-gym. Canteen College is having separate canteen in the campus. Faculty quarters Housing facilities are available to faculty staff is adequate. At present most of the staff of the college is accommodated in quarters. The quarters available in terms of space are also in accordance with ICAR norms.

To increase competitive spirit and to develop excellence, the college organizers inter collegiate sports and cultural activities and also participates in the inter university, state level and ICAR competitions. The activities encompass sports, recreation, NSS, NCC, medical attention and guidance for gainful employment. A separate NSS and NCC unit is functioning which inculcates discipline among the students and promote the spirit of social service. The Government of Maharashtra has initiated different programmes like Ashwamedh, Indradhanushya and Avishkar, for development of the students in sports, cultural activities, and inculcation of research aptitude. For participation in such state level programmes, the student s are selected at the college level by organizing intercollegiate tournaments and the selected students participate at the State level. The students of the college while completing their degree programmes appear for different examinations like UGC/CSIR/JRF,SRF,JRE, TOFEL, Civil services examination, GATE and the examinations conducted by the sports authorities of India and NCC. To help the students for preparation of these examinations at state, national and international level college has a separate cell namely students placement and counselling cell, besides this Associate Dean and Principal helds the meeting with faculty and students to discuss preparation of examination. NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC) College of Agriculture Parbhani has NCC unit of 108 cadets as per the directives of NCC battalion. The Moto of NCC is Unity and discipline. NCC strives to be and one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation. Bringing together to the students and moulding them into united, secular and discipline citizens of the nation.

13 Awards: Best volunteer award for NCC cadet of the College. Cadets selected in National games held at New Delhi. Cadets participate in Army Attachment camps regularly. NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME College has NSS unit of 220 students in which every year students enrol as volunteers. Slogan of NSS is not me but for you. Through the combined participation of students and teachers in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building. Awards: Indira Gandhi National award for best volunteer. State Government best volunteer award in and Appreciation letter as Best Programme officer to Prof. Anis Kamble. Various social, clean campaigns, aware campaign activities are arranged. Student Counselling and Placement Cell: Placement and counselling cell of this college is fully energised and working hard to place students at better positions. The students were placed in various organisations like Reliance, ITC, excel industries, banks, Indian commodities and seed companies. Various national and multinational companies are approaching to select their workforce from this institute.
