1 Role Description Year Level Coordinator "In seeking to serve God faithfully, The Scots College exists to inspire boys to learn, lead and serve as they strive for excellence together Scots to the Fore: Brave Hearts, Bold Minds Our Strategic Intent Title: Year Level Coordinator 2. Role Purpose: The Year Level Coordinator leads the delivery of education in Year X in the College. The Year Level Co-ordinator is responsible to the Campus Leader (Director of the ELC, Assistant Head-Junior Prep, Assistant Head-Senior Prep) and Head of the Preparatory School. They lead the delivery of the College s Strategic Intent through the achievement of annual goals and the delivery of excellence and rigour in teaching programs and practices in their year level. They implement College assessment and reporting policies and practices. They communicate relevant College policies and initiatives, information and campus effectively to staff, students and parents. They ensure all published information is comprehensive and up to date. They promote student achievement through the display of student work in the learning environment and contribution of sample work to campus or College initiatives. 3. Location: The Preparatory School, Bellevue Hill 4. Responsible To: Directly responsible to the Head of the Preparatory School Ultimately responsible to the Principal. 5. Principle Relationships: 6. Key Accountabilities Works with the Campus Leader, Head of the Preparatory School, various T-12 Directors/MICs, the Coordinator of the Learning Enrichment and Honours Program and other senior staff. Supervises other approved staff in Year X. Year Group learning and teaching program Student outcomes Student development and welfare
2 Adherence to policy and procedures 7. Key Tasks and Expected Outcomes: Operational Leadership Leads the delivery of the College s Strategic Intent through the achievement of annual goals for Year X and the delivery of quality, excellence and rigour in teaching programs and practices including: o Completion and electronic storage of teaching programs and other records. o Completion of relevant Board of Studies paperwork and ensuring that Board of Studies compliance requirements are met on an annual basis. o Implementing College academic policies and practices in a developmentally appropriate manner. o Ensuring Year X is resourced effectively to deliver its teaching programs. o Supporting and consulting with the Campus Leader about matters related to Year X. Supports the Head of the Preparatory School and the Campus Leader in the development of a financially viable and compliant timetable structure. Communicate relevant College policies and initiatives, information and effectively to staff, students and parents, ensuring all published information is comprehensive and up to date. Promote student achievement through the display of student work in the learning environment and contribution of sample work to campus or college initiatives. Committing to the development of best practice strategies in all aspects of College operations, especially those related to the delivery of education in Year X. Developing the distinctiveness of the educational programs offered by the College. Supporting all aspects of the life of the College. Student & Parent/ Carer feedback Range and quality of teaching strategies used Programs developed Student outcomes Quality of feedback to students Quality of feedback from team members
3 Assessment & Reporting Taking a T 12 perspective in decision making. Supporting the development and implementation of a culture of excellence and customer support throughout the College in which prospective and current community members and Old Boys receive consistent messages from the College and that their experience of The Scots College is positive and customer-focused. Implement College assessment and reporting policies and practices in Year X, including: o Ensuring that assessment practices are used to inform teaching practices and to collect data that can be used to help staff develop more effective strategies for teaching particular concepts. o Supporting the generation of timely and meaningful Reports and notifications to students and parents, including responsibility for ensuring the quality of Reports o Ensuring the maintenance of Year X records pertaining to student progress and assessment. Adherence to policy Quality & timeliness of Reports Student & Parent/Carer feedback Quality of records Moderation reports Teaching, Pastoral Care, Co-curricular Activities, Personal Planning and Team Leadership Teach classes, participate in the pastoral care program and take sporting/co-curricular to be agreed on following discussions with the Head of Campus, Campus Leader and the Director of Sport T-12. Provide leadership, support and mentoring to Year X members and other professional colleagues in the development and implementation of personal professional, team and whole-college goals within the framework of the College Strategic Intent and Operational Plan. Develop and implement personal professional annual goals within the framework of the College Strategic Intent and Operational Plan. Report to the Campus Leader and the Head of the Preparatory School on the progress of annual personal professional and team goals. Manage allocated budgets and resources to support the College s Strategic Intent. Promote Year X and provide an appropriate Student and Parent/Carer feedback Culture surveys
4 Policy Implementation Co-curriculum and Sport presence in the College s daily life and at an approved range of functions and events. Represent the Principal, the Head of the Preparatory School and the Campus Leader as required. Contribute to and implement Preparatory School policies and practices in a developmentally appropriate manner with special regard to the development of Year X Ensure students wellbeing and safety within the College by implementing College and legislative requirements Monitor and minimise risk through implementation of College Risk management procedures Incorporate strategies to promote the safe, responsible and ethical use of ICT in learning and teaching Support the Christian ethos of the College Comply with relevant legislative requirements, codes of ethics and conduct established by regulatory authorities, systems and the College Participate in co-curricular/sporting within and outside College hours Plan and deliver a consistent, coherent and relevant program in the co-curricular/ sporting area in collaboration with the Director of Sport and Head of Preparatory School Provide the appropriate duty of care and supervision of students Related Duties Participate in supporting the organisation of College functions including the biennial Preparatory School Visual Arts Exhibition, Speech Nights, and other Performances Carry out student supervisory duties as required Adherence to policy, procedures and legislation Participation Quality of program Student / colleague/ parent/ carer feedback Participation rates Stakeholder feedback Professional Development Set and implement individual work and professional development goals Participate in the regular performance appraisal process of the College Participate in professional development Gather evidence and participate in accreditation processes Meet regularly with a mentor as part of the performance appraisal and professional development practices of the College Individual plans in place Participation rates Number of staff moving t0 higher levels of accreditation

An external Performance Review will be conducted at the request of the Principal.
