2 Vice-Chancellor s Desk The foregoing six mons were very enriching for Karnataka State Law University. The University has been accredited wi A Grade by NAAC, which is a matter of pride & dignity for e institution. The University successfully organized e four Kannada State Level Moot Court Competition apart from conducting several socially beneficial activities like Legal Aid and Legal awareness programmes. Besides, several distinguished scholars, judges, jurists and learned men from public life visited KSLU and addressed e staff and students. The Tiranga March, Vanamahotsava celebration and Swachhta Pakhwara instilled patriotic zeal among e students and staff alike. The Teachers of KSLU s Law School represented e University at various academic platforms and shared eir ideas and experiences. The University in its effort to excel, harmoniously blends academic, cultural, outreach programs, heal awareness programs, Moot Court competitions and Sports, keeping in mind e wholesome development of e students. Academic and Co-curricular Activities -Special Lectures Dr. Ashok Patil, Professor, NLSIU, Bengaluru delivered a lecture on Consumer Laws in India on Dr. Ashok Patil, Professor, NLSIU, Bengaluru, gave a broad sketch of e Consumer Protection Act, 1986 and e loopholes in e legislation. 4 The law does not concern itself wi trifles.

6 Shri M.G.Kulkarni, M.Sc. (Genetics), Accounts Superintendent, KSAD Regional Office Belagavi delivered a lecture on Vedic Astrology as a Tool for Early Detection of Cancer on Prof. James Mayall delivered a lecture on Sovereignty and Self- Determination in International Politics on Shri M. G. Kulkarni shared his research on Vedic Astrology as a Tool for Early Detection of Cancer and spoke at leng on rejuvenation technique, latest gene erapy, cancer genetics, etc. Dr. C. S. Inauguration of Swachhta Pakhwara on Presentation of Awards Shri Arun Pujar, Regional Director, Regional Directorate of NSS, Bengaluru, inaugurated Swachhta Pakhwara. Faculty and students took e oa of maintaining a clean campus and society on e occasion. Hon ble Justice Smt. S. Sujaa, Judge, High Court of Karnataka delivered e valedictory address. S. D. M. Law College, Mangaluru bagged e first place and P. E. S. Law College, Mandya secured e second place. Celebration of 70 Year of Independence on Extension Activities Vanamahotsava Celebration on KSLU family celebrated Vanamahotsava by planting saplings and watering plants, us contributing towards preserving Moer Ear. 9 TIRANGA MARCH on Auorities of KSLU Prof. (Dr.) C. S. Patil, Dr. Ratna R. Bharamagoudar, Smt. Lalia Lamani and Dr. G.B. Patil addressed e staff and students and spoke about e stature of e two dedicated sons of Moer India. Orientation Programme for Deputy Directors of Students' Welfare and NSS Officers of KSLU on The Tiranga March was celebrated wi a great patriotic zeal and enusiasm by faculty and students of KSLU s Law School. A procession which covered Navanagar area, of around 6 kms. was organized to mark e significant occasion. Celebration of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti on Prof. (Dr.) C. S. Patil, Vice-Chancellor (Actg.) and Dr. G. B. Patil, Registrar (Eva.) I/c. addressed e officers. 10 Workshop on Digital India held on Principal District and Sessions Judge V. Shreeshananda was e Chief Guest. He shared his experiences and administered e oa to student representatives. KSLU Journal, Student Law Review and Amruta Vahini 7 were released on e occasion. Legal Aid programme at Mahila Jnanavikas Training Centre, Hubballi on Dr. B. S. Anami, Principal, KLE Institute of Technology, inaugurated e workshop and opined at Digital India, Make in India and Startup India programmes aim at transforming citizens into Digital netizens, under which access to information knows no barriers. More an 220 students from various colleges and 10 NSS officers participated and were benefitted by it. NSS Regional Directorate You Officer Shri D. Catrihigueane, Center for E-Governance SeMT Consultant Dinesh Krishnan were present. Various competitions were held to mark e occasion. 11 Prof. (Dr.) C. S. Patil, Vice-Chancellor (Actg.) delivered an insightful address on e importance of Kannada Rajyotsava. Mass Door to Door Legal Awareness Programme at Shriram Nagar, Dharwad on Principal District and Sessions Judge V. Shreeshananda inaugurated e program and Shri S. B. Bommanahalli, Deputy Commissioner spoke about importance of e legal awareness. Pamphlets regarding e rights of citizens were distributed, and e residents were made aware of various legal issues by students of KSLU s Law School, who actively participated in e campaign. The residents were benefitted by e programme. Awareness Programme on e occasion of World Diabetes Day on A team of Doctors from Indian Red Cross Society, Dharwad in association wi KSLU, visited e University and created awareness about diabetes. Dr. Karpurma Rtd. Surgeon, Dharwad spoke about e dos and don ts to avoid diabetes and ways of maintaining sound heal. The good of e people is e chief law Cicero 10

Puram Law College, Bangalore was felicitated for Securing Bronze Medal in All India Inter University Taekwondo championship on wi cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- 6 Sports Advisory Committee Meeting held on It was inaugurated on 26 November 2016 at 9.30 a.m. by renowned artist Sri Devadas Kapikad and presided over by e Principal Dr. Tharana. Zonal Level You Festival organised on 29 and 30 of November 2016 at Government Law College, Ramanagar Hon ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) C. S. Patil inaugurated KSLU Inter Collegiate Cricket tournament organized by KPES Law College, Dharwad from 21st to 23rd November It was inaugurated on 29 November 2016 by Shri. B. S. Honnaswamy, Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary, District Legal Services Auority, Shri. C. L. Nagaraj, President, Kannada Sahitya Academy, was e special invitee.
