3 REQUIREMENTS All campuses required completion of CSU -UC A- G courses for admission. DHS diploma with distinction and advanced scholar diploma align with the A-G requirements Only grades of C- or higher meet the requirement SAT/ACT scores are required unless you have a GPA All campuses accept either the SAT or the ACT exam. Test scores are still recommended May substitute for English and Math placement tests Will enhance application for impacted programs If student has a GPA lower than 3.00, the SAT/ACT will be combined with the GPA and must meet the CSU eligibility index. Dublin High School students are given first priority for admission to Cal State East Bay and Cal State San Francisco. If not among your top choices, great option for safety schools.

5 CSU IMPACTION IMPACTION DOES NOT MEAN IMPOSSIBLE 2 categories of Impaction Impacted Majors - Number of eligible candidates far exceed the number of spaces May be admitted in an alternative major Fullerton, Long Beach, San Diego, San Jose, Fresno and San Luis Obispo campuses are impacted in all majors Impacted Campus number of eligible applicants exceeds number of instructional resources. Impaction is a protection of over crowding & being about to serve admitted students.

6 APPLYING TO THE CSU S A-G COURSES * 10 TH /11 TH GPA * SAT OR ACT SCORES Applications are completed online at CAL STATE APPLY When you have submitted one application to a campus, you will have the option to indicate other CSU campus you would also like to submit an application. Application window is October 1 st through November 30 th for most campuses. SAT/ACT should be completed by November testing date. Check individual campuses to confirm if they will accept a December sitting. Include a SAFETY campus with your top choices (remember DHS has priority at CSU East Bay and SF)

7 Freshman Application Checklist When you re ready to complete your application to the CSU, be sure you have these items on hand: Unofficial transcripts You ll be asked to enter all the courses you ve completed on your CSU application; those that are currently in progress; and any you plan to take. Transcripts will be requested by campuses as needed. Do not send unless requested. Test scores (SAT, ACT, AP or IB) Report test results so far as well as any future test dates. Your Social Security number, if you have one. Your citizenship status A method of payment You can pay the application fee by credit card. Your parent s citizenship status Annual income Your parents if you are a dependent; your income if you are independent Your parent s employment background and two recommendations Applies only if you re applying to EOP (see your school counselor for more info). California statewide student ID Optional; every K-12 student in a California public school is assigned an ID number. The number isprinted on your DHS transcript.

8 HELPFUL HINTS - COMMON MISTAKES Before you start: Set aside uninterrupted time. Set up an designated for your college and scholarship correspondence. BE PROFESSIONAL! READ AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY If you are retaking a class to improve a D or F grade, *only use the improved grade* in your application. Use the in progress option in the application In the category other courses add only relevant courses you have completed ROP classes, electives related to your interest/major, community college classes, etc. WATCH DEADLINES. Don t wait to the last minute!

9 HELPFUL HINTS - COMMON MISTAKES If you get an error message (red box), don t panic READ the warning, make the correction or check the the bottom to continue with application. Still have problems, check the CSU Apply help page. Call the CSU help desk or see your DHS counselor. Proofread and have someone else review before submitting. Common errors: Names not capitalized, mis-spelled course names, course/grades errors. Double check EVERYTHING. WATCH DEADLINES! DON T PROCRASTINATE

10 MISC TIPS Spend some time exploring on CSU APPLY and visiting the individual campus websites. Review the individual campus freshman profile. You should match fairly closely if you are considering applying. DON T CATCH SENIOR-ITIS Acceptance letters are *conditional.* Don t let Sem 2 grades jeopardize your college acceptance. Visit the campus in person. Call ahead and ask for a student to give you a tour. It s not too late. WATCH YOUR DEADLINES! Applications, Acceptance, Housing, Summer courses if required.
