1 Important Notification: Result & Subsequent Stages of Admissions Process for all candidates who have applied to B.Des and M.Des programmes (including candidates in overseas category). All Candidates are required to the read this document carefully and proceed as per the instructions and schedule mentioned to accept and confirm their seats. 5 1 Announcement of Results 1.1. Results Results for admission to NID for the Academic Year for both B.Des. and M.Des. programmes (including overseas candidates) will be declared only on the official admissions website on Tuesday, 31 May 2016 by 1100 hrs. The ranks / scores of the candidates will be available for viewing on the official admissions website from Tuesday, 31 May 2016 by 1100 hrs. Candidates will have to login on the official admissions website admissions.nid.edu to view the final results. Separate result scorecards will NOT be sent individually to the candidates. The scores obtained in Admissions cycle are valid only for entry to the academic year The scores/ranks cannot be used by any person/ institution without prior permission of the National Institute of Design Rank List for Academic Year The Rank list for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme will be generated category wise, based on the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate at each stage of the admissions process. The Rank list for each discipline in the Master of Design (M.Des) programme will be generated category wise, based on the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate in each stage of the admissions process. The Rank list of Overseas Category (supernumerary seats) shall be separate as announced in the Admissions Information Booklet Weightages for each stage of Admissions Process Programme/Test Design Aptitude Test Studio Test Interview B.Des 20% 60% 20% M.Des (all disciplines) 20% 50% 30% Note: Only candidates who have appeared for all the three stages of the tests will be considered eligible for the Merit List. 6 1.4. Relaxation in Cut-Off scores for candidates in reserved categories The score of the last qualified candidate (based on the number of seats available) in the merit list for general category will be considered as cut off score for General category. Candidates belonging to the OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PH categories will be declared as qualified on the basis of a relaxed criterion as follows: OBC-NCL 10% less than cut off score of General category SC ST 20% less than cut off score of General category 20% less than cut off score of General category PH 30% less than cut off score of General category Unfilled seats based on cut-off in merit or unavailaibility of candidate in the OBC-NCL category will be allotted to General category candidates. Seats remaining vacant under the SC and ST categories shall NOT be allotted to candidates belonging to other categories. The reservation for PH candidates is horizontal across all categories. Reservation policy is not applicable to candidates who have applied under Overseas category. The category chosen by a candidate at the time of submitting the application form is final and requests for change of category will NOT be permitted under any circumstances. The number of seats available, category wise for B.Des and different disciplines of M.Des programmes is as declared in the Admission Information Booklet, Section 10, page number 14, available online at edu. Change of discipline at any stage of the admission process and thereafter is strictly NOT allowed Tie break policy In case of tie break (the total marks scored by two or more candidates are the same), then the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks: (i) Higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage II Studio test. (ii) If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage III Interview. (iii) If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage I Design Aptitude Test. (iv) If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage I Design Aptitude Test Part B. (v) If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage I Design Aptitude Test Part A. 7 1.6. Re-checking Re-evaluation or reassessment is not permitted. Requests for rechecking of Studio test paper/answer book only will be restricted to verification of (i) checking whether all the answers have been examined, (ii) that there is no mistake in the totalling of marks for each question in that test, and (iii) transferring marks correctly on the first cover page of the answer book. Any requests for such rechecking must be submitted on or before 02 June 2016, 1700 hours. Candidates are required to send scanned copy of the Studio Tests & Interviews Admit Card along with their request for reassessment by an only to Any requests sent without scanned copy of the Admit Card or received after 02 June 2016, 1700 hours will not be entertained under any circumstances. 8 2 Online Consent by Qualified Candidates Qualified candidates (as per the rank list, based on the merit, and number of seats available, category wise) will be allotted seats provisionally after online verification of documents. Candidates in the merit list, will have to submit their consent ONLINE only, to be eligible for the next stage of admissions process, from Tuesday, 31 May 2016, 1100 hrs to Friday, 03 June 2016, 1600 hrs. Merit List will refreshed daily from Tuesday, 31 May 2016 to Friday, 03 June 2016, at 1600 hrs, based on the consent submitted by candidates. It is the responsibility of the candidates to check updates on the official admissions website and submit their consent as per the deadline. Not submitting the consent online within the given deadline will disqualify the candidate from admission to NID. Only the qualified candidates who have submitted their consent online will be considered in the first merit list for B.Des & M.Des (all disciplines). 9 3 Uploading of Documents Online by Candidates Qualified Candidates as per Merit List 1, will have to upload scanned copies of their relevant documents for verification. All the documents must be issued in the name of the candidate. Scanned copies of original documents must be in JPEG format only. Uploaded Documents will be verified against the information provided by the candidate in their Application Form, failing which their candidature stands cancelled. Provisional admission will be offered only to qualified candidates who are found eligible after the verification of the scanned copies of relevant documents uploaded by the candidate. Candidates who have applied under the OBC-NCL/SC/ST category have to submit valid category certificates issued by appropriate competent authorities in the prescribed format as available on the official admissions website ( OBC-(NCL) certificates issued AFTER 31 March 2015 will be considered valid. Candidates who have applied under PH category must produce a valid Disability Certificate issued by the appropriate competent authority, as per the format provided on the admissions website Last Date for Uploading Documents Last Date of Uploading of scanned copies of original documents for verification is Thursday, June 13, 2016 at 1600 hrs. In case of results awaited of Qualifying Exam: *Candidates with Class 12 results awaited (for B.Des.) and Graduation results awaited (for M.Des.) will have to obtain and upload a bonafide certificate from the Principal of their School/College in the format available online at admissions.nid.edu Such candidates whose results are awaited and fail to upload their bonafide certificate in the prescribed format will forfeit their candidature. It is mandatory for candidates to pass their qualifying exam, produce the original marksheet of qualifying exam (class 12 for B.Des., and Graduation for M.Des.) and submit a self attested copy on or before Wednesday, 31 August 2016, failing which the candidate will forfeit their seat. The date of birth of the candidate as recorded in their Birth Certificate or High School (10th std. / 12th Std.) / first Board / Pre-University Certificate will be taken as authentic. Uploaded Documents will be verified against the information provided by the candidate in their Application Form, failing which the candidature will stand cancelled. No queries will be entertained in this regards and decision of the Institute shall be final and binding on the candidates. Page 11 of 14. 12 4 Offer of Admission 4.1. Provisional Offer of Admission Provisional offer of Admissions including details of fees to be paid, will be sent to only those candidates whose uploaded documents have been verified and found to be in order. The Offer of Admission will be sent only by , with the following documents as an attachment: (i) Rules and Regulations (ii) Format of Physical Fitness Certificate (to be certified by a RMO) (iii) Format of Undertaking to be submitted by the candidate (only in case if the result of 12th Standard or final year Bachelor programme is not declared). (iv) Indemnity. (v) Hostel Rules and Regulations* (vi) Hostel Application Form* * Applicable only for candidates of M. Des. Disciplines at the Gandhinagar campus, and candidates of B.Des. at the Ahmedabad campus. Candidates are required to fill in all the required details along with the candidate s and parents / guardian s signature on printed copies of all documents before proceeding to payment of fees. 4.2 Confirmation of Seat Seats will be considered confirmed only on physical verification with original documents and payment of the required fees Payment of Fees Indicative annual expenses for each programme are as declared in the Admission Information Booklet, Section 12, page number 18, available online at Candidates are required to prepare a Demand Draft in favour of National Institute of Design, payable at Ahmedabad. On the reverse of the demand draft, write in clear handwriting the following details: (i) Candidate s full name (ii) Roll Number (iii) Name of Programme (B.Des. / M.Des.) 13 Candidates are required to login and fill in the details of Demand Draft online. On submitting the details, the Acceptance of Admission Form will be generated Documents to be Submitted Print the generated Acceptance of Admission Form, fill the checklist of relevant documents, paste a recent passport photograph and attach the Demand Draft and duly signed copies of ALL documents mentioned below, in sequence: 1. Admissions Acceptance Form, signed by the candidate 2. Demand Draft in favour of National Institute of Design 3. One set of self-attested copies of ALL documents submitted online 4. Rules and Regulations, signed by candidate and parent/guardian 5. Physical Fitness Certificate, certified by a RMO, in format provided by NID 6. Undertaking by the candidate only in case if the result of 12th Standard or final year Bachelor programme is not declared, in the format provided by NID 7. Indemnity 8. Physical Verification of Documents The candidate has to remain present in person at the respective campus for verification of documents as per the given schedule with all the above mentioned documents and original documents as mentioned in Section 3. Admission to the BDes and MDes programme is subject to the physical verification of the documents at the time of counselling session (campus wise) as per the schedule provided. (only disciplines at Bengaluru Campus) on Thursday, 14 July hrs onwards Candidates failing to report personally on the date specified or candidates with incomplete/missing/false documents will be disqualified and their admissions offer will be withdrawn. 14 4.6. On the spot offer of admissions If qualified candidates in the merit list 1 as fail to provide relevant documents or pay fees as specified before the deadline or decline their admission, their candidature stands cancelled. A selected number of qualified applicants in order of merit (depending on the vacancies available and category wise reservation), will be called for spot admission at the respective campuses as per the schedule below. At Ahmedabad Campus: Candidates of B.Des on Monday, 11 July hrs onwards Candidates of M.Des. (only disciplines at Ahmedabad Campus) on Tuesday, 12 July hrs onwards At Gandhinagar Campus: Candidates of M.Des. (only disciplines at Gandhinagar Campus) on Wednesday, 13 July hrs onwards At Bengaluru Campus: Candidates of M.Des. (only disciplines at Bengaluru Campus) on Thursday, 14 July hrs onwards It is the responsibility of such candidates to remain present in person with the necessary documents and fees for such spot admissions. Spot admission will be based on the merit rank and category-wise vacancy, and hence does not guarantee admission for all candidates who are called for spot admission. Important Notes (i) Admission to a candidate will stand cancelled, if the proof of having passed the qualifying exam [std. 12 for B.Des. and Graduation for M.Des.], as per the eligibility criteria specified, is not submitted to the Institute latest by 31 August (ii) Admissions are subject to verification of facts from the original certificates / documents of the candidates. If an applicant is found ineligible at a later date even after admission, his/her admission will be cancelled. The decision of the institute regarding the eligibility of any applicant shall be final and binding on all candidates. (iii) A candidate must satisfy all the aforesaid eligibility criteria in order to be eligible for admission. (iv) Records of the exam related documents will be retained only for a period of one year from the date of declaration of final result. (v) If any claim or dispute regarding NID Admission 2016 arises, the Courts and Tribunals in Ahmedabad alone shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to entertain and settle such dispute or claim.
