Admission to SGH 5 Detailed description of criteria grading system at the 1 st stage of selection process The score for this component is solely based on the result of the admission process of the student to the programme of studies he or she applies from to CEMS MIM regardless of the current semester of studies. a) the points for TKEFL are translated into selection points according to formula presented in Table 1; b) the score of candidates, who were admitted to SGH MA studies on the basis of high GPA of SGH Bachelor s Studies, is calculated based on their GPA achieved after five semesters of bachelor s studies according to Table 1. c) the basis for assigning GPA points to students in other cases not listed in this document (e.g. students who were admitted to SGH as foreigners) is the Page 5 z 15

average number of points assigned to all remaining candidates who fulfil formal criteria of admission to CEMS MIM in this selection process. 2. Language proficiency in the second foreign language (FL2) a) Selection points for proficiency in the second foreign language (in scale from 0 to 100 points) is calculated solely on the basis of the SGH Language Competence Tests or commercial certificate (and equivalents) according to Appendix 1; b) The validity of SGH Language Competence Tests is limited to 2 years calculated according to the following formula: x-2, where x stands for the calendar year in which the selection takes place; there are no validity restrictions on language certificates; c) If the candidate has presented a proof of proficiency in more than one FL2 the selection points will be calculated on the basis of the best result. d) In case stipulated in 1, section 7, the candidate is not given any selection points for proficiency in the foreign language other than English declared as FL1. 3. To the second stage of the selection process may be admitted up to 100 (one hundred) candidates with the highest score. 2. The above-mentioned number may increase (within the feasible capacity of the assessment and/or interview process) following the decision of the CEMS Academic Director at SGH: a) if the number of available slots in partner universities is changed, b) if the score of the 100 th candidate in the ranking is achieved by more than one candidate; c) if there is necessity to interview more candidates due to selection process Page 6 z 15

schedule (i.e. awaiting language proficiency assessment test results); d) due to other extremely important reasons. 3. The aim of the interview is to expand the knowledge about candidates derived from their application forms and to assess their motivation to participate in CEMS MIM programme and their study plan, and finally, to assess other aspects of the student profile required by CEMS. 4. The interview may be composed of two separate parts: a personal interview by the members of the Selection Committee (Jury), and an assessment conducted on a basis of CEMS Admission Criteria. 5. The interview is mandatory and is conducted with candidates in person by three members of the Jury. The interview should last at least minutes (or minutes in case of organising a separate assessment), including the time for candidate s profile presentation to the jury and his/her final evaluation. 6. Candidates may obtain up to 60 points for the interview, and in case of separate personal interview and assessment, the candidate may obtain up to 30 points for each component. 7. In specific cases (sickness, stay abroad) and following request of the candidate, the Selection Committee may agree to conduct the interview on-line (e.g. Skype or video conference) if technically possible. In such cases, the date of interview will be agreed individually with a candidate, and will cover all selection criteria, even in case of organising a separate personal interview and assessment. The maximum number of points for such interview is 60 points. 8. Candidates may obtain up to 60 points for the interview (up to 20 points from each member of the Jury) which is the sum of all points assigned by each member of the Jury who assesses a candidate. In case of organising a separate assessment, the maximum score for that component is 30 (up to 10 points from each member of the Jury). 9. On top of the assignment of points for interview, each member of the jury is obliged to assess the compliance of candidate s profile with CEMS MIM requirements ( Yes of No ). If a simple majority jury members make a negative decision, a request for rejecting the candidate from the selection process is presented. 10. The request described in Section 9 must reach unanimous support of all members of the Jury who interviewed the candidate. In such case, the candidate is automatically rejected from CEMS selection process regardless of the total accumulated score of the candidate without further proceedings. 11. Any absence from the interview results in the candidate s rejection from the selection process unless the candidate has informed members of the Jury in Page 7 z 15

advance about his/her absence (including force majeure situations) and there are still free slots available to conduct an interview. 7 Assignment of university for a term abroad 1. The assignment of university in which a candidate will spend his/her mandatory term abroad means that a candidate has been accepted for CEMS MIM Programme. 2. Only students with a final score of at least 50% of the maximum available points will be accepted. This limit may be raised (in case the number of candidates with required minimum score exceeds the number of available slots), or lowered by the CEMS Academic Director, who is also responsible for setting the number of slots available in the selection process. 3. The assignment of candidates, who successfully complete both stages of the selection process, to a university where they will spend a term abroad, will be conducted by on-line application according to the following criteria: a) total number of selection points accumulated during selection process, and b) preference of universities for term abroad. 4. In case when two or more candidates obtain the same number of total points, the position in the ranking of such candidates is determined by: a) sum of points obtained for the interview, and then b) the points obtained for the assessment (if organised), c) the points for admission process, d) the points for extracurricular activity, e) points for the proficiency in the second foreign language (FL2), and f) the alphabetical (Polish) order on the list by increasing Surname(s) and Name(s). 5. Once the assignment process is complete, a list containing the names of candidates accepted for CEMS MIM Programme will be published along with a waiting list. Waiting list candidates must comply with the requirements stipulated in Section The candidate on the waiting list may be invited to CEMS MIM Programme in the following cases: a) resignation of a candidate who was accepted for CEMS MIM; b) the increase in number of slots offered by a partner university, provided the candidate achieved minimum score as described in section 2; 7. The decision to accept a candidate from the waiting list is made by the CEMS Academic Director; admission is offered to candidates with the highest number of points according to the ranking list. Page 8 z 15

8. The unassigned slots may be offered to CEMS MIM students, who wish to change the assignment due to unstable political situation, natural disasters, or due to rejection of admission by the host university. 9. Remining, unassigned slots may be transferred to selection process for Erasmus+, PIM and bilateral exchange programmes, or offered to CEMS MIM students who will apply and get permission to join CEMS Multi-Country Track (or Tri-National Track). Selection criteria for Tri-national Track is conducted by CEMS Academic Director at SGH after closing the selection process. 10. Appendix 3 to the Rules contains a list of universities participating in the CEMS MIM programme, with the available number of slots for candidates. 8 Detailed rules for assignment of slots to candidates 1. The slots assignment process is divided into two stages: a) the initial assignment of slots, b) the final assignment of slots due to resignations or lack of confirmation for the initial assignment. 2. Initial assignment of slots is based on the Rules as stipulated in 7 Sections 1 to 5. The process ends with the announcement of initial results of the selection. 3. Within two days after publishing the initial results of the selection process, all candidates are requested to confirm or resign from participation in CEMS MIM programme as stipulated in the 9, Section 1 and In case of resignation(s) from the programme after publishing the initial results, the process of assignment of slots is repeated. In this process participation is limited to those candidates who did not reject/resign from participation in CEMS MIM in the initial stage and those from waiting list. 5. After repeated assignment of slots the final list of students admitted to CEMS MIM programme is published, and admitted students must submit confirmations according to 9 of the Rules. 6. In case of resignations submitted after publishing the final results of the selection, released slots are offered according to the following rules based on the waterfall model: a) A released spot will be offered to a candidate who would first get this spot according to the ranking; b) In case or rejection to accept proposed spot, the assignment will be offered to the next students in the ranking, who would get this spot. If again, the candidate rejects the spot, it will be offered to the next person in ranking who would get that spot, provided he or she is not lower than on 40 th position in the ranking. Page 9 z 15

c) Above mentioned process may be continued for the candidates ranked below 40 th place or those on the waiting list following the consent of CEMS Academic Director at SGH. d) In case of rejection to accept the offered spot, a candidate will be omitted in the process of offering released slots in the future and his/her assignment is final; the same applies to those who will accept the offer their decision is final. 7.
