3 Deputy About Norwood Green Infants School The school recently expanded from three to four forms of entry meaning we currently have approximately 480 children on roll. We are lucky to have a centre for Hearing Impaired pupils whose children play a pivotal role in the life of the school The school is located in a diverse, multicultural area close to. The proportion of children speaking English as an additional language and with special needs is well above the national average. The proportion of children in receipt of the pupil premium is broadly in line with the national average. The school is set in large, attractive grounds with extensive playing fields, outside learning zones for each year group and an amazing forest area. We have a creative curriculum based on our school values, which has a strong emphasis on the whole child. We make sure our pupils receive a broad range of experiences and opportunities and promote active, investigative and imaginative learning throughout our community. Governors and staff are committed to providing the very best education for the children. Teachers have a wealth of experience and expertise and work collaboratively in year groups. 4 Deputy Job Description: Deputy Head teacher Salary: 57,370-62,985 including Outer London Weighting Responsible to: The Head teacher and the Governing Body The deputy head teacher at Norwood Green Infant and Nursery School will work with the Head teacher and together they will be responsible to the Governing Body for leading and managing the school effectively to the highest possible standard. Duties include those outlined in the conditions of employment of deputy head teachers and the conditions of employment of teachers other than head teachers (published within the school teachers pay and conditions document.) Main Responsibilities: Working with and supporting the head teacher (HT) on key school leadership and management areas as delegated by the HT. Deputise effectively and efficiently in the absence of the HT. Consistently demonstrating high standards of personal integrity, loyalty, discretion and professionalism. To work with the HT and Senior Leadership Team to take the strategic lead on community partnerships. Promote the values and achievements of the school to the community. To lead a key curriculum area. Take a major role in the day to day running of the school. Contribute to a positive ethos for learning, helping develop an exciting, stimulating and creative curriculum. Support the HT and Governors in annual budget planning and monitoring. Take the role of deputy designated lead for safeguarding. Oversee CPD arrangements.
5 Deputy Strategic direction and development of the school Promoting and demonstrating the school values, ensuring that the ethos of the school is maintained. Working with the HT to contribute to the strategic direction of the school and analyse and plan for its further development within the local, national and international context. Actively seek out and develop effective partnerships with other schools Determining general school policy and managing its implementation Engaging positively with parents and other stakeholders Teaching and learning Providing an example of outstanding practice as the leading classroom practitioner. Consistently acting as an inspiring and motivating force throughout the school. Working with school leaders to sustain high expectations and outstanding practice in teaching and learning. Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching through quality assurance including lesson observations, book scrutiny, pupil interviews and assessment data. Monitor and evaluate standards through the use of assessment data, tracking and set targets for improvement Leading and managing staff Working with the HT to lead, motivate, support, challenge and develop all staff to secure continual improvement To lead in appraisal for designated staff including teaching assistants To promote effective team working and high morale Effectively managing own time when dealing with the wide range of demands of the post Efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources In consultation with, and by the direction of the HT, deploy people and resources efficiently and effectively to meet the specific objectives in line with the school s plans and financial context. e.g. cover supervision timetables, deployment of teaching assistants and supply staff. Manage and monitor the range, quality and use of all resources to improve pupil s achievements and provide value for money
6 Deputy Key accountabilities Supporting the head teacher and Governing Body in accounting for the efficiency and effectiveness of the school to relevant stakeholders. Work with staff to analyse data, identifying patterns in progress and attainment, identifying areas where additional support or resources may be required Support team leaders at all levels with the moderation of core subjects to ensure accurate assessments are made at each point in the assessment cycle Provide regular and accurate updates to governors on progress and attainment Specific accountabilities within the School Development Plan
