1 Notification for Admission to B.A. LL. B. (Hons.) Program under the NRI/NRI Sponsored Category Seats (Academic Session ) (Only those candidates who have applied for and appeared in CLAT-2017 under the NRI/NRI Sponsored category are eligible to apply) Date: 30 th May 2017 Hidayatullah National Law University, Naya Raipur, has 16 seats earmarked for the NRI/NRI Sponsored category of candidates in the five-year integrated B. A. LL. B. (Hons.) Program. To be eligible for admission to the five-year integrated B. A. LL. B. (Hons.) Program under the NRI/NRI Sponsored Category Seats, the applicant should either be a Non-Resident Indian or must be sponsored by a Non-Resident Indian relative and must have applied for and appeared in CLAT-2017 under the NRI/NRI Sponsored category. Note : It is also important to be noted that following the Ministry of Home Affairs Guidelines, OCI/PIO Candidates who have applied for and appeared in the CLAT-2017 under the NRI/NRI Sponsored Candidate category will also be eligible to apply for admission under the NRI/NRI Sponsored Category Seats. Accordingly, in order to be eligible to sponsor a candidate under the NRI Sponsored Category Seats, the NRI/OCI/PIO who sponsors the candidate for admission should be a first or second degree relation of the candidate and should be ordinarily/permanently residing abroad as a NRI/OCI/PIO. For example, the person must be a close blood relative such as father, mother, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, half-brother and half-sister. The NRI/OCI/PIO Sponsored candidates are required to submit a Declaration by their Sponsors stating the relationship with the candidate. If the candidate has no parents or near relatives as NRI, OCI or PIO and he/she has been taken as a ward by some other NRI/OCI/PIO relative, such candidate may also be considered for admission provided the guardian has treated the candidate as a bona fide ward. Such a Guardian shall submit a Declaration indicating the interest shown in the educational affairs of the candidate and also his relationship with the candidate and such person should also be a NRI/OCI/PIO and ordinarily or permanently residing abroad. There are no specific seats reserved/ earmarked for NRI and NRI Sponsored candidates separately. The offer of admission under the NRI/NRI Sponsored category seats shall be made entirely on the basis of merit, i.e. the Score/Rank obtained by the candidates in CLAT In other words, irrespective of their status such as NRI or NRI Sponsored Candidates, the candidates having higher CLAT Score/Rank will get preference over the candidates having lower CLAT Score/Rank. In case of non-availability of NRI/NRI sponsored candidates and the consequent vacancies, if any, the vacant NRI/NRI Sponsored seats shall be filled by opening it up for all the candidates belonging to the All-India as well as Chhattisgarh Domicile on 50:50 basis. Application Procedure: The eligible NRI/NRI Sponsored candidates (i.e. those who have applied for and appeared in CLAT-2017 under the NRI/NRI Sponsored category) and are interested in taking admission at HNLU under the NRI/NRI Sponsored category seats, may therefore apply in the prescribed Application Form with the copies of the following certificates/documents: (a) Copy of the Birth Certificate in proof of age (b) Proof of Nationality (Copy of valid Passport of NRI/OCI/PIO Candidate/ NRI/OCI/PIO Relative Sponsoring the Candidate) (c) Certified Copy of the Passport (Photostat copy of the Passport certified by Indian Embassy or Indian Consulate of the Country where the NRI/OCI/PIO is residing) (d) Certified Copy of the OCI/PIO Card (Photostat copy of the OCI/PIO Card certified by Indian Embassy or Indian Consulate of the Country where the OCI/PIO is residing) (e) Declaration by the NRI/OCI/PIO Sponsoring a Candidate (NRI/OCI/PIO Sponsored candidates are required to submit a Declaration by the NRI/OCI/PIO Relative stating his/her Relationship with the Candidate and the interest shown in the educational affairs of the candidate as per Annexure 1/1A) (f) NRI/OCI/PIO Certificate (Certificate from Indian Embassy or Indian Consulate of the country where the NRI/ OCI/PIO is residing as per the format given in Annexure 2/2A & 3/3A)

2 (g) Copy of the Statement of Marks obtained in the Qualifying Examination, i.e. Senior Secondary School/Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent (With Conversion Certificate issued by the Competent Authority stating the percentage of marks equivalent of the grades obtained, in case the Statement of Marks is issued in terms of Grades) (h) Certificate Recognizing the Qualifying Examination Passed (Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from a county other than India are required to submit a certificate from the Indian Embassy/Indian Consulate or the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, stating that the examination passed by the candidate is equivalent to the qualifying examination prescribed by various education boards in India) (i) Application Fee of Rs. 1000/- payable either through Demand Draft (drawn in favour of Registrar, HNLU, Raipur, payable at Raipur) or through National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) as per the Bank Account details given below. The receipt/proof of payment made through electronic transfer (i.e. UTR No./Transaction ID) must be enclosed/attached along with the Application Form. The duly filled-in Application Form complete in all respect and accompanied with required certificates/documents must be sent/submitted through registered/speed post so as to reach the Registrar, Hidayatullah National Law University, Naya Raipur (Chhattisgarh), India, latest by 05:00 p.m. of 20 th June Alternatively, the scanned copy of the filled-in application form along with the digital (scanned) copies of required documents can also be submitted electronically through to: admission@hnlu.ac.in with a copy marked to: registrar@hnlu.ac.in on or before the scheduled date and time specified above. Note : As the Hidayatullah National Law University is located 30 kms away from the main city of Raipur and the courier services are not up to the mark, the candidates are strongly advised not to send their applications through courier. Incomplete applications and applications received after the last date shall not be considered. The university authorities shall not be responsible for the postal delay, if any.
