Courses ( Session) under Sports Quota University Profile: Jadavpur University has originated from National Council of Education established by the doyens of the then Bengal intelligentsia. Since 1906 the Council had to intensify its technical education activities through the Bengal Technical Institute later named as the College of Engineering & Technology, Bengal functioning as a National University exclusively under national control. Govt. of W.B. with concurrence of the Govt. of India enacted legislation to give a statutory recognition to the National Council under the name of Jadavpur University on the 24 th December, At present the University has three Faculties: Engineering & Technology, Science and Arts. The Faculty of Engineering & Technology runs 16 (sixteen) B.E. courses, 3 (three) 5-year (Evening) Engg. Degree courses, 2 (two) Post B.Sc. B.Tech. courses, thirty-seven (37) Post Graduate Courses (M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Pharm/ Evening M.E./M.Tech.) with a lot of specialisation and M.C.A. course. At present most of courses are approved by AICTE. Some courses are University approved. However, these courses are recommended by AICTE Committee within the final approval process of AICTE. Jadavpur University was declared, along with four other Universities of India, as the University having Potential for Excellence. The University has been reaccredited with a CGPA 3.61 on 4 point scale at A Grade by NAAC. Following U.G. Engg/Tech/Arch/Pharm courses offered by the University under Sports Quota: 1. Instrumentation & Electronics Engg. 10. Mechanical Engg. 11. Metallurgical Engg. 12. Pharmacy 13. Power Engg. 14. Printing Engg. 15. Production Engg. Admission Information : 1. A properly filled in Downloaded application form has to be submitted by the applicants of Sports Quota by within 4 p.m. at the Office of the Principal Secretary, Faculty of Engg. & Tech., Jadavpur University Main Campus. Eligibility: Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other equivalent examination of a University/Board with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English are eligible for admission to the First Year Class of the aforesaid Undergraduate Engg/Tech/Pharmacy courses. In addition candidates will have to satisfy the ELIGIBILITY FOR SPORTS QUOTA as specified in item No.4 below. Medical fitness: Candidates seeking admission to aforesaid Undergraduate Engg/Tech/Arch/Pharm courses should possess good health and physique with sound mind and should be capable of undergoing N.C.C. Training. They should not have any physical deformity or infirmity and should not be suffering from any disease or illness that might incapacitate him/her in future. Eye-sight standard : (a) should not be color blind for admission to Chemical, Civil, Architecture, Pharmacy, Metallurgy and Printing Engineering; (b) allowable defect - myopia or myopic astigmatism correcting lens not exceeding Medical fitness will not be required for Physically Challenged candidates. Eye sight standard may be revised by the University.

3 2. Provisional admission will stand cancelled in case the candidate fails to pass the H.S. (10+2) or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English and to submit the mark-sheet within 30 days from the date of publication of the result of H.S. (10+2) or its equivalent examination. 3. ELIGIBILITY FOR SPORTS QUOTA: a) The candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other equivalent examination of a University/Board with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English are eligible for admission to the first year Class of the Undergraduate Engg./Tech./Pharm courses provided they satisfy the prescribed medical fitness. b) The candidates must qualify in the Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE ) of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board for admission to Engineering Degree Colleges and must hold General Rank up to 12,000 only. c) The applicants in the Sports category shall have to furnish original and attested copies of the certificate/s issued by the following Authorities in support of their participation in the relevant tournaments organized in current year and two years preceding only: 1. Candidate with State Representation merit/certificate (i.e., participation in Inter-State completion) or above in the sports and games recognized by the Association of Indian University. 2. Sports representation is to be made in the current year (calendar year) and two preceding years (calendar years) only. 3. The application form for admission under sports quota is to be submitted along with sports certificate issued by the Secretary/President or the respective State/National recognized Authority of the sports. 4. The candidate/s may get themselves admitted in any Engineering Degree College including Jadavpur University in the discipline available to them at the time of counseling organized by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) Rank. However, they shall have to submit their properly filled in downloaded application form for Sports Quota of Jadavpur University along with all requisite certificates including Sports participation certificates, as stated above to the Office of the Principal Secretary, Faculty of Engg. & Tech. located at the First Floor of the Integrated Building of the University at its Jadavpur Main Campus by within 4-00 p.m. positively, if they want to be considered under sports quota category. 5. The candidates will have to produce Original and attested copies the following documents given below at the time of provisional admission:- (a) Rank Card issued by WBJEEB Board (b) Admit Card of WBJEEB-2013 (c) Admit-card and Mark-sheet of Madhyamik & H.S. examinations or equivalent. (d) SC/ST Certificate in the name of the student issued by the authentic authority of Govt. of West Bengal, if applicable. (e) PWD Certificate in the name of the applicant from the authentic authorities, if applicable (f) Family Income Certificate of Parent/Gurdian from the authentic authority. (g) 5 (five) copies passport size photograph. (h) All Sports participation Certificate from the competent authority. (i) The students and their guardians have to submit a signed Anti Ragging declaration in Non-Judicial Stamp Papers as per format of affidavit such as Annexure I and

For Information Technology (IT) Course Fee : Rs. 30,000/- Annually a) For all U.G. Engg./Tech./Arch./Pharm courses (except Information Technology) will have to be deposit Rs.5600/- by Demand Draft / Bankers Cheque in favour of Registrar, Jadavpur University, payable at Kolkata, at the time of final admission for Tuition Fees and other charges for the session & (for two years only) except for the Information Technology Course. Enrolment No., JEE Rank, Name of the Student and allotted course must be written in block letter on the reverse side of the Demand Draft / Bankers Cheque. b) For Information Technology course of J.U. will have to be deposited Rs.30,800/- (annually) for the session by Demand Draft / Bankers Cheque, in favour of Registrar, Jadavpur University, payable at Kolkata at the time of final admission for Tuition Fee and other charges for the session (one year only).
