Oversee planning, stewardship, management, and accountability of fiscal, capital, and human resources of the Office for Diversity and Inclusion. Was responsible for administrative and programmatic oversight and coordination of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Ally

Developed and managed Recruitment and Multicultural Services budgets ($300,000). Developed and implemented a comprehensive strategic recruitment plan. In partnership with the Director of Communications developed persuasive and effective student recruitment materials. Analyzed data related to student enrollment. Represented the school at conferences and recruitment fairs. Developed an evaluation plan to assess effectiveness of various recruitment practices. Increased percentage and number of students of color enrolled. Served as a member of the Dean s Operations Group (School s management group). Served as a resource for

Planned, designed, and directed efforts to recruit and retain students of color. Led efforts to create a climate for multicultural learning and growth for students, faculty and staff. Guided the development and implementation of a strategic plan for multiculturalism and diversity in the School. Developed the Public Health Around the World presentation series. Provided personal and academic support to students and insured that they were informed and encouraged to utilize campus resources. Director of the Minority Student Program University of Minnesota, Morris Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, managed the Minority Student Program office, including direct supervision of professional and support staff. Managed the Minority Resource Center, including two computer labs and a TV/Study lounge. Managed office and program budgets including two grant programs. Formulated and articulated a vision for the office. Provided assistance and support to the Minority Alumni Association. The office academically advised all first year students of color. Monitored academic progress encouraging students to utilize campus resources, making referrals as needed. Collaborated and assisted the minority student organizations in developing and implementing cultural programs and activities. Created a minority resource guide for first year students. Collaborated with the Director of Admissions to develop a recruitment plan and strategy to recruit students of color. Assisted with recruitment by going on the road to college fairs, visiting agencies and TRiO programs. Wrote and received a three year grant to establish a Diversity Community Outreach Program ($141,000). Wrote and received a grant for start up money to establish a minority resource library ($5,000). Rewrote and received a grant for the Minority Alumni Mentorship Program ($45,000). Met regularly with the mayor, chief of police and the city manager to address issues students of color were faced with in Morris. University of Iowa Organizational Seminar January 13-16, 1998 One of four-seminar faculty working with leaders of fraternities and sororities on what it means to be a leader and how to run an effective organization. Worked primarily with leaders of Black and Latino/a fraternities and sororities on getting back to their founding principles emphasizing community and what that means. Coordinator of Project ACHIEVE June 1997 August 1997 Belin/Blank Center, University of Iowa Oversaw a residential summer math program for 16 talented and gifted students of color from Chicago. 5 Outreach Admissions, University of Iowa Developed a proposal of how to get students of color involved in the recruitment process. This consisted of interviewing university professionals that work directly with students of color, meeting and interviewing students, and designing a questionnaire that was completed by the students. Teaching Assistant January 1994 June 1995 Office of Student Life, University of Iowa Coordinated the Leadership Series, a series of workshops presented by Student Affairs staff. Coordinated the Life Skills Committee, comprised of representatives from Student Affairs offices. Service-Learning Coordinator for the Volunteer Iowa Program. Helped coordinate the annual Black Student Awards reception. Advised minority and international student organizations in the areas of educational, developmental and leadership programming activities. Advised the Multicultural Director for the annual campus festival Riverfest. Coordinated crowd management for concerts brought in by the Student Commission on Programming and Entertainment. Advised the National Pan-Hellenic Council, which consists of the eight historically Black Greek organizations.
